Great, easy to setup, limited range Review by FanLarm

Everything about this router is great......except the range. Two rooms away, signal is very weak. Wish it was a little stronger but everything else is excellent for the money. Sleek looking.

Excellent Router Review by harry-dallas

I am impressed with this router and functionalities. Since everybody has said good things about it I am going to ask for missing features,

1. USB port should support printers.
2. Router should be used as a repeater.

Easiest to set up and configure.. Review by seacaptdon

I have had a variety of LinkSys, Belkin, Netgear and other routers including wireless over the last couple decades both at home and in office settings and this one was the easiest to install and set up of all of them and actually required no technical assistance at all... however I did call tech service with a question and there was no wait, they were courteous and knowledgeable and efficient. Quite the opposite from the experience I had with LinkSys tech support which basically only wanted to sell me an upgrade at a substantially higher price so I said no thanks and just happened to check to see what Costco had for routers and found this Vizio. A great buy and great router.
I especially like the separate internet, router and wireless setup features.

Wireless Router Review by ScottB

I first tried the Linksys E3200 this router slowed everything down so I replaced with the Vizio and WOW this router work great. Very easy to set up and range is very good I have a two story house and the router is located up stairs in the far corner my down load speeds to my IPad on 2.4G are 24 - 30 Megs and 5G 25 - 31 Megs the 5G does not travel has far as the 2.4 but, works great.

Great Range, Great Price, SImple Config, USB port works with MAC only Review by Drew

I bought this router becuase of the great reviews I read. The router itself lives up to its expectations and then some. The networking functions are awesome and despite the lack of gigabit netowkorking I had three dlna devices running on this router at the same time. The range on this router out performed my linksys and dlink hands down. The setup is dummy proof and anyone can set it up. The only drawback is that I not tech support could get the USB port working on any of my windows machine. I am a seasoned network engineer and we could only get the routers USB port to be recognized with an apple computer. So if your using windows then dont count on the networked storage option. If our using mac then you will get to use all the features of this router. I have bought two of these and neither had functioning USB slots. All my computers find my neighbors USB storage on his network. Out of respect for this company I will refrain from identifying my neighbors router type. I still highly recommend this router except if you need network storage functionality.

Great buy, few notes. Review by p0litik

Been using this router for 9 months now. Great wireless performance. Very reliable operation, very few times I have needed to reboot the unit. Would be 5 stars had it been equiped with a Gigabit switch. The 100Mb switch makes using the USB port for file sharing limited.

RECOMMENDED.

Great Router and simple to install Review by kms

Great Router for the prize - it does provide best connectivity than my previous routers. Can stream HD movies with no issues.
Has capability of having more than one wireless network.
Best of all has the USB port that could support network drives... so no issues to share files within your wireless network

fixed connection problems Review by hapless

I don't expect you would post my 1st review because it wasn't complimentary, but I wanted to update you anyway. I eventually figured out how to connect my HD Tivo, Wii, and PS3 without finding any assistance on your website. It's working fine now, so I will keep it.
It would have been helpful to find an online manual explaining the reason to activate all of the network settings; Because each of my toys used a different band.

can't get connected Review by hapless

I didn't realize that I had bought a second hand router until I started to cut the packaging and saw that it had been resealed. Now, I understand why someone before me had returned it, because I will do the same on Monday if Visio tech support can't remedy this intolerable situation. Set was easy for my PC and laptop, but I can't get my PS3, Wii, nor HD Tivo to find it. The claims of easy setup are a myth.

Beats them all Review by ernie

For months I have been having problems with my internet. It either takes forever to load, freezes, or will not go to a secondary web site. I brought two different wilreless routers top of the line D-Link and Belkin. I also had the cable company replace my modem and connectors. Nothing seemed to correct my problems.

Then I brought a XWR 100 Vizio router. I have three Vizio LCD TV and they have been wonderful. The Vizio router is outstanding. It has solved all my problems. The signal is better that my other routers going through three concrete floors. Installation was automatic and very easy.I used the default settings. Much faster than going through customer service to make the others try to work.

Shot in the dark pays off!!! Review by Fezwon

I bought this router about a year ago not even needing a new. But after reading what it could do on the box, and a little research online, I took a chance and bought one. Best router I've ever had. Streams Netflix to my PS3 in HD quality!! Not to mention the 5GHZ band took surfing the internet and downloading to a whole new level. I recommend this router to anyone, and have. It's nice to not have to worry about my homes networking anymore! Cant wait for Vizio to make a USB adapter to go with it.

BY FAR THE BEST VALUE ON THE MARKET! Review by KMag357

I LOVE THIS ROUTER! Although my Atheros WLAN card would only support the 2.4Ghz N, I simply spent $15.00 on Ebay and upgraded to the dual band Atheros card and I now get the 5Ghz N! WOW! Truly amazing! Downloads are SUPER FAST and setup was EASY! I cannot commend Vizio enough on this router!! Thanks!

Good Router Review by Wolfstep

I have been a Linksys user for many years. Until now.

I purchased a Samsung BluRay player and needed to connect it to my Linksys network. I found the XWR100 at Sam Club and found its features nice with an attractive chassis. Its ability to have 3 seperate channels so I can move the not so important devices to the slower channel an added benifit.

I also liked the ability to add an external USB device and share it was a great benefit.

The one thing I found I didnt like was that I had a difficult time connecting certain devices to the faster channel.

The menu really needs work. Hard to navigate to what you are looking for. So for that I give the device a 'D'. However the other configurabilities are nice. It would be nice if the was a better flow to the setup portion of the system.

I also would like to see the router have the ability to get more feedback to the log and monitor the data flow.

But over all I am thrilled with the router over all. I am sure that as Vizio matures its product line, Linksys wil have to look over its shoulder.

Fantastic Device! Review by ChrisM

I too am coming off using my old Dlink workhorse that was rock solid for ages. And still works perfectly, but I got this new Vizio router as an early birthday gift from my wife, and have to say it is one of the best gifts I have gotten in a long time. I saw a HUGE increase in network performance right away. Connected my 2.5" 500Gig Acer external drive to the USB port and gained a media server. The wifi range is excellent, I was thinking of using the Dlink as an AP / range extender, but there is no need, the Vizio is getting into corners I never could with the Dlink.
Nice sleek shiny look, this is so worth the $59.00 CDN @ Walmart.
Blu-Ray is next on the list for upgrading, and now will be looking to Vizio products for most of my future electronic purchases. Keep up the good work.

It Just Worked Review by mrau

I had an older wireless router, that has been a work horse for years. Recently it started failing and needed to be rebooted every few days. I didn't mind rebooting it, but once I bought a new blu-ray player, I had trouble connecting it to the internet. With this in mind, I decided to buy this router. It just worked. I shut everything down, plugged everything together and turned everything back on. I followed the directions, and within 30 minutes, my blu-ray player, smart phone, laptop, and all of my other wireless electronics were talking on the internet. Good job Vizio.

great product if it had gigabit ports Review by anand

This router has everything I am looking for except Gigabit ports. Not sure how Vizio missed this. Also if they can add one more USB port. So, I will wait for the next model.

Absolutely beautiful. Review by Slane583

I NEVER write reviews for anything no matter how much I like it. But this router is definitely worth writing one.

Originally, we used to have a Netgear wireless G router that I aquired off of a friend ages ago and it would have the typical hissie fits, disconnecting every so often and requiring reboots.

Then a couple of years ago when my older brother moved back here, he had an older Linksys wireless G router he lets us use since he didn't have internet at the time and took our old Netgear.

But we eventually had two cell phones and a laptop hooked to it via wifi, my desktop computer, our old Vonage service plus another older desktop hooked up through wired connection. Then my mother bought a new LG blu-ray player to watch Netflix.

So the thing was showing its limit as it was getting chocked up trying to run 7 devices all at once.

I suggested this router to her because it was designed to run hd video and stream Netflix better plus it was FAR cheaper then other routers that are designed to do the same thing which actually don't do what they say.

We've had the thing for almost two months now and had absolutely no problems with it except for one reboot because there was two internet disconnects two weeks apart from each other. But I found out it was the cable acting stupid and not the router.

Setup only took me about 1-3 minutes tops because all I had to do was plug my computer in to it, punch in the proper codes into the phones & laptop and WHAM. Found the router and connected to it no problem.

We even got the new blu-ray player to connect to wifi with no trouble where as it was giving us fits with the old Linksys. So it was hooked up to wired connection.

Now everything's fine and the performance is far better. Even for the $80 we paid for it at Wal-Mart it's worth every penny when comparing it to units that start at $120 and on up which don't perform nearly as good.

Outstanding!! Review by Bruce

I had a wireless modem from AT&T which stopped functioning. After getting a replacement modem, I needed a wireless router. I saw the Vizio at Costco (along with several other wireless routers). I compared the specs and found that the Vizio offered all of the specs of the more expensive wireless router offered. The more expensive router was more than twice the price. I bought the Vizio wireless router 2 days ago. The set up was very fast and easy and the signal strength has been outstanding!! No restart issues and it was very easy to edit the password already set up to allow me to use my own password. No complaints, very satisfied!!

Update to Versatile Vizio Review by JAK

I could not get my notebook to connect to with WiFi. My netbook had no problem at all so I e-mailed tech support. They e-mailed me back immediately and gave me a toll free number to talk to a tech rep in South Dakota. The rep seemed very knowledgeable, was very courteous, AND I could understand every word spoken in English. After attempting several tweaks to the router, which I had already done on my own, and suggesting settings for the notebook, which I also had tried; he suggested to contact the notebook manufacturer since his steps did not fully work. However, I ran the Windows diagnostic procedure for internet connection, which I had already done and didn't work; but this time it did work. Therefore, the tech's suggestions along with my one other step got the notebook connecting without a hitch, and it is still connecting after rebooting, shut downs, etc.

Maybe the tech rep was a newbie, but one more suggestion on his part would have gotten me up and running immediately. I don't fault him at all since he was honest and did his best. However, I really appreciate Vizio's support service -- and it being in the U S of A.

Versatile Vizio Review by JAK

I spent almost two weeks reading reviews of over 20 different routers and checked stores for routers since this would be my first one. I wanted a dual-band router since I may want to stream on-line videos to my family room's HDTV. The router was very, very easy to set up. No CD is included, but the Quick Start chart tells it all. In about 10 minutes I was up and running and the signal strength with my netbook was 100% at two feet from the router and 85% at 30' away. My house is built with steel studs and this didn't seem to cause any problems. Then I went to the Advanced settings to change the name of the router and do some security tweaks. Otherwise, the default settings work great. I then mounted the router to the side of my entertainment cabinet (where my desktop computer is located) to get it out of the way. I have been reluctant to buy a WiFi system due to security issues, but I don't have the fear anymore with this router. Even though I have an external hard drive for backups, I doubt if I will connect it to the router's USB port -- but it is nice to have that capability. Also, there is a reset button in case your tweaks run afoul.

Easy setup Review by Goodtea

everything is good so far but it freezed when i connected it with my external harddrive and tried to stream movie. I had to unplug the power and plug it back in to make it work again. After all it work great with such a good price. I got it at Walmart for $59.

excellent streaming Review by borrachito

Overall I do recommend this router, since it does what is supposed to do. Two issues I am facing, one, sometimes the 2.4 signal is brodcasted without security code even when a pass-code had been entered, saved and router restarted. second issue, I cannot setup the admin password, or when saved, it does not recognize it. i had to continue using the default ID and Password, or just leave it open so anyone on the network can change it. I dont like that. I will call for support, but it seems I am not the only one facing the same problem. I connected a 1.5 TB external HD and I was able to read it from a wireless computer on the network. watched a couple of movies from the shared HD on the network, it was perfect.

This router has been working fairly well for about 3 weeks or so, with one glitch. About once a day I have to reset it, as I lose connections to my wifi laptops. Otherwise I'm happy with it. Anyone else having the same issue? My firmware is up to date.

I'm Sold on Vizio! Review by BoomerSooner

Two months ago I saw Vizio 55" HDTV, 240Hz, at my friends home - Awesome Picture! I got one for an early Christmas gift to myself. Plus, added the Vizio Sound Bar/Sub-woofer - super sound. Then, never own a Blu-ray; had to add the Vizio Blu-ray too. Lastly, had to upgrade my router. Yep, added the Vizio HD Router as well ! We are hooked up and its one heck of a setup for sure. For many years I bought Sony; I'm now a Vizio Man ! Thanks Vizio, keep the good products coming....

Sleek, Easy and Full of Features Review by JohnC

While looking for an economical replacement for my aging Belkin that needed to be reset several times a day, I can across the Vizio XWR100 in the local Wal-mart and found that quite odd. After researching this product for a week, decided to purchase it and I can tell you this is a great upgrade to any homes network. I currently have all three wireless networks up and running, handling four laptops, several game consoles and two cell phones. So far I have doubled my download speeds and have yet to need a reset of my router.
Basic Setup is easy and the WPS works great, but getting the Classic WEP network up and running is tricky, it won't go WEP 128. Otherwise an easy setup.
Great Job Vizio!

I have test it the router by having a loptop, desktop, iphone, itouch, playstation and the main desktop were the router is set up, and the speed was good. I also get conection on my driveway at list three bars. I've purchase this router about four days ago, buy I can sure tell the difference.

I bought a "Dual band" router (Trend net) only to be let down as it was NOT true dual band IE: using 5 and 2.4 GHZ bands SIMULTANEOUSLY. My new VIZIO router IS true dual band and it cost 1/2 as much and has twice the speed! I can't wait to add a VIZIO Blu ray player to my VIZIO HDTV Model: SV421 XVT
Keep it up the quality, VIZIO ! !

Great Product Review by Imagemaker

My son and I just purchased and installed this incredible solution to replace a D-Link DIR-655 that had been losing connection to our High Speed Comcast broadband modem. Not only was set up fast and easy, it was as automatic as any router I have ever used. We have already connected 5 PC's, 1 Mac, my son's X-Box 360 and my iPad and everything is rock steady and fast. I also have not experienced the disconnect problems I previously had because of conflicts with my business VPN and the Sprint Airave we use to get better mobile service in our home. We have steel construction supports instead of wood in many areas of the house and wireless has always been challenging until now. I have tried Linksys, Cisco, Apple and D-Link routers and this Vizio product, at about half the price of those others is the best. No surprise as we have had Vizio flat panel TV's since they first came out and now own 4 of them.
I highly recommend this router!

Easy Installation Review by Margarita Man

Wow! This was one of the simplest installs I have ever made. No install disc...no hassle. I just re-installed my old wireless router (Linksys G) for my parents. Of course the install CD does not work on their new Win7 laptop, so I spent an hour finiding the insturction on the web and then figuring out my old password.

This Vizio router took 2 minutes to set-up. Very easy...Connected to iTouch with security key password provided on card...no problem I can hardly wait to set-up my blu-ray...well better go back to Costco for it now!!! The vizio router was $69 at Costco.

The easiest and fastest router setup I have ever used! Review by Tinkerbell

I will not rehash what most everyone else has said here, but I did wish to boost up the rating totals for this terrific router.

It is by far the easiest and fastest router to set up, and while I cannot speak for longevity yet (as I only installed it yesterday), I have a consistent and strong signal throughout my (somewhat structurally-challenged) house.

Had I realized how easy this router would be to set up, I would have replaced my existing router long ago (or rather, as soon as this one became available). You cannot beat the price for a dual band!

Feature Rich, Great Performance, Good Price! Review by John

I replaced my aging Linksys 802.11b wireless router that could only run WEP encryption, that is easily crackable, with this Vizio XWR100. To get past the marketing hype, I had checked many user reviews for the more popular name brand 802.11n routers on Amazon.com. In most cases the majority of reviews were pretty positive. Still, every router reviewed had its "real world" flaws. So, I was a bit hesitant buying the XWR100 at Sam's Club ($69.97), because it did not appear to have user support forums and only one Amazon reviewer. There were only 8 reviews here on the Vizio site. Not a large sample of users, like the other routers, to determine if this router had issues. I downloaded the XWR100 user manual and saw a feature set that looked that great for the price. Also, I wanted the dual band capability because the 5GHz band gave me the option to stream video to my TV and get away from potential interference in the congested 2.4GHz band. I've only had it for 5 days now, and this little router has been GREAT! I'm now able to use my netbook throughout the entire house and have seen an improvement in speed, even at the side of my home that my old Linksys could not cover. The set up went VERY smoothly. After getting it to run with the default setup, I decided to run it with WPA2 AES encryption because it is the most secure today. Also, for increased security, I changed changed the default Vizio SSIDs to non standard names and set it up to require logging in with a strong password when changing configuration settings. To work with the new XWR100, I bought a very nice Airlink AWLL7025 Dual Band N USB adapter on Amazon for only $14 to replace the 802.11b adapter on one of our desktop PCs. Compared to other routers in the same price range, this one far exceeds the others in price vs performance and features.

Unexpected Surprise Review by Steve

I just happened to be looking to upgrade my old router and I wanted one with USB to attach a drive. WALLA there I was in Sam's Club and the XWR100 was staring me in the face practically begging me to check it out. $69.97 and a 2 minutes set up later I'm convinced it was some kind of devine intervention. Exactly what I wanted for the price I had in mind with a set up so simple even I could figure it out. Actually the XWR100 pretty much does all the set up for you. Very impressive stuff.

Great Router - Easy Setup Review by BarbaraB

This router was a great find. I saw it while shopping at Sam's Club; it's only $69. I didn't know Vizio made wireless routers and getting this one was appealing since it has HD transmission and we recently bought an HD Vizio TV with apps. I thought the Vizio router might be more compatible with the TV (although it probably doesn't really matter). It also has a hookup for external data storage. We recently bought a 2Tb drive and the idea of being able to access our data from any computer on the network is very appealing.
I hooked it up with no problems at all and even connected to my work VPN without having to change any settings (which I had to do on my previous router). The external drive data access is great too. A little slow on the classic setting, but so what? Keeps me from having to hook up/unplug the storage from the computer I'm using, plus the computer is now mobile since the storage isn't attached to it.

Great Router and Easy Set-Up Review by GadgetMan1

I just purchased this router b/c I wanted a simultaneous dual-band N router. I was concerned about my ability to set it up and hook up all of my wireless devices to it. Set up was a breeze with online set up and I was able to customize the router. My devices immediately recognized the router and I was online with all of them in less than an hour. Great product and price for a simultaneous dual-band router. Thanks Vizio!

Excellent wireless N router Review by Peter Le

This XWR100 is the best wireless n router (cheap price, very smart and high quality), sold on WalMart for $78.00 USD and on Sam's Club for $69.97 USD. I bought one yesterday to replace my old Lynksis wireless G router (very reliable, but it can not go to 300 Mbps). I had a beautiful and reliable Vizio TV for 3 years and love it, and this Vizio router really surprised me. To my experience as a computer tech./engineer, this Vizio router is a beautiful perfect router: cheap price with very high quality (at this time, no other expensive brands in this class can compete), come with one year warranty, simultaneous dual-band, can run 3 networks/devices at the same time, 1 USB ready for external device, WPS push button, very good on both range and speed, no heat problems, very easy to set up (less than 2 minutes). You don't need CD to install anything at all; just follow instruction; turn on your computer; connect to your DSL or cable modem; open your web browser; it will automatically connect to internet; just follow the instruction to set up/edit/configure the way you like, everything is straight forward and extremely easy! I am sure that your grandma can do it in 2 minutes! Remember to print out your wireless network information before you finish set-up. I also bought a Netgear N600 wireless dual-band USB adapter for my old Dell PC (Win. XP OS) to pair-up with this new router, and they are a perfect combination. I have 5 destops/work-stations/servers, 3 laptops, 1 X-Box, one Play Station, 1 Nintendo Wii, 1 network printer... running without any network interruption with this new router. It's really universal! I just purchased one year extended warranty on line for less than 10 bucks. The total price is still very cheap if comparing with other expensive routers. I hope this wireless router will last longer than 2 years, and I don't need to buy another extended warranty plan. Go ahead, and buy one for your home/office; trust me; you will not be frustrated.

Working like a charm Review by Norgertech

I bought this in Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA for $78. CDN. Previously had a Linksys N router that kept dropping out every time the wireless phones went off. So far I'm very impressed...took 2 minutes to set up the modem/router connection and get our main desktop going. Since that I've reconnected a Blackberry Bold, an Iphone 3G, and an aging HP laptop. With 3 levels of speed, I can hook up newer bleeding edge phones and Blueray players, while keeping the old stuff going, all the while knowing that they are all as 'secure' as I can make them. This is my second Vizio product, and so far, I LOVE what they do. It works, out of the box...w/ 1 coffee, and no university degree required. Thanks Vizio.

Vizio's Router Works and Priced Perfectly. Review by Jason K

I just received this router as I was looking for one that could send and receive info simultaneously over 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands. Not only is it half the price of the Linksys but it works perfectly.

And the set up could not be easier. The online interface is already optimized for the router right out of the box but there's plenty of customizable options as well.

I've already noticed a definite performance increase since switching to this router both on hard line and wi-fi band G. I haven't even had the chance to use the N band yet. Still waiting on my Xbox N adapter to arrive.

So Far So Good. Review by Squid

I Just Purchased the router about two hours ago to replace my aging router that had been dropping it's connections for about a month and today it died, there was no hope in reviving it this time. I had been looking for a new router for some time knowing that mine was not doing so well... I had looked at a good bunch of possible routers and was a little hesitant to go for the " VIZIO XWR100 " since I didn't know that VIZIO made a router and was unsure of the quality but I decided to go on a gut feeling and I purchased the router. The Installation took about 4 minutes (No Install Discs Just a nice and simple Web Based interface) I then set up the wireless connections on two Mac's and a PS3 and one wired connection to an i2eye Videophone took about 8 Minutes. I have to say I'm quite impressed with the product so far and will write a follow up review in the next month or two.
