Good picture, but unstable for streaming Review by John

Couldn't be happier with the picture quality, but there are problems with the Yahoo app platform that cause the TV to crash and freeze up when you are streaming content. I would not recommend the VIA platform if you want to stream content to your TV.

Great TV - If you can live with the problems Review by DentonTX Reviewer

I have had this TV for exactly one year. I must say that I'm becoming dissapointed in the firmware that keeps being pushed. The problems keep getting worse. You have got to fix these random power offs. Sometimes it will lock up tight and I've got to power reset by unplugging, doesn't matter if it is connected to Internet or not, I've reloaded about as many times as I can stand.

Now I get MW3 and the TV turns off everytime the screen goes dark black. Beginning to think you have a poor processor that doesn't like deep blacks.

Happens on HDMI inputs from Blu-Ray, Netflix Apps, and my XBox360 connected via Component Inputs (RGB). Also, the power down on VGA inputs is annoying. I want the TV on when I turn on my computer instead TV powers down before computer comes alive or can switch if I use laptop.

Otherwise. I love this TV and I'd buy another Vizio product, heck just bought your Bluray player last week. But, come on fix the problems already.

Excellent TV and Excellent Customer Svc. Review by Davis

Best picture I have ever seen! I feel like I am actually on set with the actors. We had a problem with the remote, and I called and the customer svc guy fixed the problem over the phone! Superstar service.
I felt bad when I came to put in my two cents and saw that someone else returned their remote and is having the same problem. I simply called them and they handled it impecably with a simple power reset on the remote itself!
The remote is a bit complex, but certainly my kids know how to operate the whole thing...I am learning. ;)

XVT423SV Review by Nterao

I love the TV, but hate the remote. I have sent back one of them since after 7 months it went down. Now after 5 months the remote is having problems again. I do not know how many times I have reset it and called tech support, these do not last.

Best picture I have ever had on any set. This and the 240hz for football season, what a combination. Review by Butch

Being an engineer, I do not buy anything until I research the heck out of it. That said, I walked in Wallmart a few months back and handed the guy in electronics a note. The note read "Vizio XVT423." He told me I was the first person he had ever had to tell him up front the model of the television I wanted. He had it, I bought it, and the rest is just plain old pleasure of watching the "Crimson Tide" on the best television I have ever seen. We have a lot of friends and family on Saturdays watching the games. I think your sells should go up. Great product at a great price. The only thing I have added is the Vizio Sound Bar. This made a great television into the Perfect television.

Great Set for the money Review by TennesseeUser

After long debate and discussion between this HDTV and the Samsung 40C6300 I chose the Vizio for the full panel LED array. The set is exceptional. I did have a brief problem with the HDMI inputs not working but a call to customer support fixed that in a week and the "house call" tech put in a new board and all is well. I am looking at getting a 32 inch soon and already have 21 inch LCD I bought a couple of years ago finding out then that Vizio is a good solid product.

Awesome tv Review by willowlafaye

Well, we have had our TV since 2/27/2011, and I have got to say I am impressed, my whole family loves our TV, the picture is just breathtaking and the internet apps have allowed us to "cut the cord" on satellite TV.

When we did run into a sanffoo, tech support answered right away, was very helpful and got it fixed right up. We needed a soft reboot.

Overall, the best TV ever!!!

Totally Awesome Review by Lovinit

If your looking for a new LED/LCD TV this is a good one for sure. I have had mine for about 6 weeks now and I am Loving it. Very good picture quality.

Pros: LED- backlit, Low Energy Usage, Less heat than older LCD's. Amazing Contrast Ratio, Beautiful HD picture with lots of picture settings. Internet Apps is totally awesome, the wave of the future is internet connected streaming video. Easy Setup, Wi-Fi Wireless N and Wired Eithernet capable, Onscreen Widgets, Yahoo, Netflix, Blockbuster, etc. too many to list them all.
Onscreen Netflix menu for watching thousands of on demand streaming HD movies and TV shows with 1 remote.

Cons: The remote is a little heavy and the buttons are a very small for a guy with big fingers. No backlit remote. The slideout Keypad is not really needed, I have only used it once, the buttons are way too small.
Changing channels is very slow for some reason, the tuner takes about 4-5 seconds to respond after entering a channel number.
The speakers are a little cheezy, but not bad since you really should be outputting to a sound system for quality sound.

Suggestions: For a few bucks more invest in the 480hz 3D model, maybe even a bigger screen if you can afford it.

Love it! just wish it had a YouTube app Review by Alan

I have been researching my first LCD/LED TV purchase extensively for nearly a year now, and finally made my purchase of the Vizio 42" XVT Full-Array LED TV. The picture is amazing. I was disappointed that their is not a YouTube app, but overall, I would buy this TV again! :-)

Fan freaking tastic Review by melacon

Like many others, I picked this up at BJ's. They are the place for Vizio. I was going to get the lower 120Hz model, because this one wasn't advertised online. I'm glad I spent the extra $150 or so to upgrade, as this TV is phenomenal!

The walkthrough setup was a breeze. I didn't know, but this TV can program it's remote to control other devices in your home theater, like a DirecTV box or audio receiver. I will admit, though, it did not have a working code for my Insignia Blu-ray HTIB.

The tv allows you to have 'logins' that can connect to different peoples Facebook, Twitter, etc (password protected of course), access weather, hulu, and many other popular Internet apps. I wish I was more a fan of Yahoo, because they seem to be the dominant brand there. Or if Vizio liked Google more, which is my personal favorite for searches, etc. But their use is outstanding, and you can continue watching your program while you browse the apps.

The picture is bright, colorful, and auto adjusting to the room's lighting and environment. It makes Blu-rays look out of this world, and even an episode of Stargate Atlantis watched over Netflix looked like a Blu-ray. I am completely in love with this new TV, and with Vizio, after being a huge Sony fan. Please, Vizio, make a 65" of this set!

good, although less than 1 mo and having strange problems Review by Ca

Not even 1 month old and all of a sudden when first turning on the tv there is a strange popping and hissing noise. Also the picture flickers a little. It only lasts a short time, but this should not happen on a new tv. I am extremely technically challenged and know next to nothing about set-up, etc. My husband has set it up with some difficulty, it really is a learning experience, but all seemed to be well until the popping noise.

I bought the tv at BJ's club warehouse. I can return it within 30 days. The only thing is I'm not sure they have any left and we did get a good price. I especially chose this tv because it had the best side view, being a tru-led and all. Also, I thought getting the internet feature would be something I would like, although I now have to have someone help me reset my password on wi-fi since it rejects any password with both alpha & numeric characters.

Has anyone else had any problems? I really do like the tv and don't want to return it unless I can replace it with a new one.

Thanks :)

Another Great TV from Vizio Review by mc887

This is my second Vizio TV bought in July and is GREAT. My roomate has a Samsung that he paid more than double what I did and he will be the first to admit that my picture is hands down better than his. This was not my first Vizio and definitly will not be my last. You CANNOT beat the Value in these TV's and dont let the price fool you. You dont get what you pay for is these products you get more than what you pay for.

Excellent LED Flat Screen Review by Stuke

I've had this product for a few days now and all I can say is WOW! What a great flat screen HDTV/monitor. It was a breeze to set-up (great packaging) and hook-up was less than 15 minutes. You need an HD cable box for the HD TV signal. We also hooked-up the Playstation 3...what a difference. I use VIZIO HDMI cables for the box and PS3. The internet apps are great but I haven't played with them extensively. The menu system is a bit unintuitive as I find it hard to get to the Parental Controls features, even when creating a new profile (user). I would recommend this set 100%.

Worth Every Penny Review by David

My wife and I bought this tv from Walmart for my parents as a Christmas present this year and they absolutely love it. The clarity of the picture from any angle in the room is amazing. Their cable bill even went down because of a current special the cable company was having on HD DVR cable boxes.

We aplaud VIZIO for their superior product. VIZIO may become a household name in our family in the years to come. Thank you.

Best TV For the Money Review by benhogan

We bought this tv from sams club about 2 weeks ago, and it is truly awesome, even wii games look better. I am glad I waited a year to buy a tv. Last year a tv like this would have cost 2000. We paid less than 800. I would recommend vizio tv's to anyone.

Perfection in Video, unbeatable price Review by Intobluer

We bought this XVT423SV from Samsclub to replace our 9 year-old Sony HD CRT, based upon reviews from Cnet and elsewhere. The sale price was nearly half it's competition, and frankly, we feel like we made out like bandits!

First, WHAT A PICTURE! The few menu quirks make a fair trade off for a display this stunning, at a market-leading quality/price ratio. The intuitive set-up is well thought out, and allowed the remote to be easily programmed to operate all of our connected devices. Make sure all of your devices activated at set-up because doing so afterward may not be easy.
We enjoyed the Vizio's speakers (impressive for their size) for a couple of days, then decided to pump the sound through our 5.1 system, and discovered a minor software glitch; the menu instructions for the Audio Receiver read "please to if" etc...but we figured it out, and you will too if you have ever operated a TV before. Then, it offered only "0" and "1" for codesets for Sony, and defaulted to "Yes, it worked" as the only option - when it didn't. So, we went into the Help menu, reset the TV to it's out-of-the-box state, and included the sound system with the set-up - the menu now properly showing 33 codesets, of which the third worked fine.
Hey, if you want to spend hundreds of dollars more just to get a better menu - knock yourself out.
Oh yes, the Local Dimming feature is off, so go turn it on when you finish set-up.

Connections: 4 HDMIs are on the back, with 1 more thoughtfully on the side next to 3 non-functioning USB inputs (the manual says they are for "future expansion"). There is only 1 set of component inputs on the back combined in a either-or fashion with a composite input. With no separate composite input and no video-out, we had to ditch the VCR - which we have not used in years anyway, but would like to have kept just in case. Every display manufacturer thinks we all have modern equipment!
Inexplicably, the RGB (computer) video and audio connections are on separate panels.
There is an ethernet connector for you streaming junkies, but we like our free OTA HD so the excellent built-in ATSC tuner works fine with our antenna.
Here's a nice surprise: the specs do not show this set having a NTSC tuner, yet it picked up 3 still-operational low-power ANALOG stations...COOL!

In summation, this is the best TV we have ever owned, at less than half the price we paid for our last one nearly a decade ago.

Best HD tv one can buy for well under $1000. Review by Aaron

I bought this tv from sam's club for $789 on sale, and I'm more than impressed with the picture quality and sound. With a few minor tweaks to the picture settings, this tv will deliver nearly perfect colors and great blacks. There is a little blooming but it's no big deal.

The sound quality is also outstanding. The sound will fill any medium sized room.

Overall, this tv is amazing. It's crazy to think someone would pay thousands of dollars for other tvs like Samsung or Sony when Vizio delivers a tv that can perform for a much better price.

Excellent Value - Nice Widgets Review by JL

We purchased the TV about two weeks ago from Sams Club. We decided to go with this TV because it received great reviews on cdnet. We love the Internet widgets and can't for more widgets to be released. We also love the QWERTY keyboard on the remote. The "real" keyboard is far, far better than having to navigate a virtual keyboard on the screen with a normal remote.

The first two movies we tried to watch (Star Trek and Iron Man) looked horrible. The movies looked like they were shot with a camcorder. I read about the problem in some forums and found this was a common complaint with a lot of 120 Hz ad 240 Hz TVs. Long-story short, we turned off the smooth motion effect and the blurays look perfect!!

Great TV and a great price! With the one tweak mentioned above, blurays look fantastic.

XVT423SV represents a great value Review by JEG Columbus

I bought the XVT423SV, the features for the price were just too good to pass up. I paired it with the VIZIO VBR231 Blu-ray Player. The setup was very easy and the picture is absolutely amazing. While I was at it, I also upgraded my home network with a new Vizio WR100 router. I bought everything at Sams Club, and had it all operational in about 2 hours. I really like this set and you will too. The features, performance and value make this set a great value.

For quality and economy Review by Fiend

Picture is fantastic. Preset picture modes very helpful. Sound is excellent. Sound still fills the room at low volume levels. Used Vizio VBR-200W Blu-Ray player through HDMI and picture was so good it lost the "feel" of being an actual film or movie. Video game console has no problem making sure I see and hear everything. Manual and quickstart instructions could use some improvement. Difficult to find instructions for all package contents that are clear and easy to understand. Figured it out eventually though. It is a little thicker in depth and more weighty than I anticipated, but that has not been problematic.

i could not be more happy Review by zaga

i got this tv at a sams club, originally intended to go for the razor series but after seeing the picture quality of this puppy .... i fall in love ,definitely not as good looking as the razor series but the sound is great(hence a little bit of extra weight) and the refresh time, do really make a big difference (if you are a gamer this one is the one )
movies turn into a totally different experience the immersion is amazing
just spend a little time calibrating the picture and you will see how Samsung got nothing on vizio
i have not try the internet features
the view angle it is a little narrow ....you do not lose view but lose contrast as you move to the sides
the menu it's really user friendly and overall i liked the interface
the matte finish of the screen make a great feature if you have a bright room
i really hope to have this tv for a long long time ......
