Piece of Crap Review by Bob

XVT553SV purchased 11/26/2010
This tv has a mind of it's own. Went away for three days in the summer and when we returned the damn thing was on. Don't have a notion for how long. I have gone to bed only to see flashes and hear voices and find it turned itself on. Just recently the sound cracks and pops when first turned on in the morning. Picture freezes. Right now we are waiting days for a repair person to show up to fix the current problem (via extended warranty). The latest problem showed this weekend just in time for the big football games. The stupid thing shuts down every thirteen seconds and restarts (they blinking vizio light).
Would not recommend the led.
Vizio washes their hands for fixes the day the warranty expires. If you buy one you better get a service extension, you will need it.
Should have stuck with original decision to purchase Samsung

Great TV Review by Mike

I bought this over one year ago. Great performance. Hook to cable and I just LOVE to PIP feature. I'd be lost without it. Plus, I did not have to pay for all the add-on bells and whistles that I am not interested in, like internet, 3D, etc. Please come out with a 65 or 70 incher just like this.

Just bought the 55 inch tru led tv. After researching decided on this one. Best decision...picture quality is awesome! Sound is pretty good too. If you want a clear crisp picture this is the one. Very, very pleased with this purchase.

Waiting for football season! Review by SteveF50

I purchased my 55" about a week ago and the performance has been all I wanted and then some! I cant wait for football season now. I have direct tv and am able to pull up to 8 games on the screen at once. I researched and checked out several LCD and Plasma sets and for the money this one will hold its own with anyone else. If it has a weakness it may be in the audio. But I am hooking speakers to it for the surround sound experience and it wont make a distance after that.

Vizio 3D tv Review by majorbuzzkill

I bought my tv a couple months ago, and have fallen in love with the tv. It's simply the coolest thing I've ever owned. I run a PS3 with it for true 3d Video gaming. My tv is an experience all its own. My kids describe watching it as "An action packed window" I couldn't have said it better myself. I love the Yahoo twitter widget, but don't care for any of the other Apps it comes with. The Face Book App is not user friendly. I like the bluetooth wireless access for "whatever" i want to use it for. I use it for internet.
Thank you Vizio for an affordable 3D tv.

This" Tube rocks" Review by Vic

I haven't used all the features yet, I am loving this...I get the apps, with facebook, financial s, you tube, this is great. I look forward to the weekends when don't have to go out and pay high price for movies . I can now relax in my own home and enjoy.
I have read many of the other reviews as well and think they are right on. I am still needing to get some of the additions but will do that in time. Need Blue ray player and the surround sound. I will have to budget or wait for a good sale.

Thanks VIZIO

GOOD FRIGGIN TV Review by JOELITTLE

Bought this tv with some left over money earlier this year and was surprised at how much I had left over due to the great pricing for such a great tv. Never had any experience with Vizio prior to this tv but have to say after learning its an american tv and its just as good if not better (I think so) then all the other major japanese brands I was totally sold on it. Especially after the picture quality compared to others and so far not a hitch in operation and going about a year now of ownership. Love it. Get one they are worth it. Good job Vizio!

Awesome Review by Tony

Ordered My 55in Vizio LED LCD on Nov 29th, took advantage of the cyber monday deals and ordered direct from Vizio. Great savings on the TV but shipping ate up most of the savings though but the shipper did excellent. Shipped to my wife's job because they give a delivery time range. The guys were really nice. The TV is awesome. Makes HD look like its live footage. My wife said yes to my early xmas present but after watching her favorite movie True Lies streamed through netflix commented i understand why you wanted this. True Lies never looked that good even in the movies! Setup was a breeze. The VF551XVT recognized my wifi instantly, just had to type in our password. I spent more time trying to activate netflicks then i did anything else. This is my 2nd Vizio. I also am the proud owner of a 47In LCD bought about 2 years ago. I remember the satelite guys coming over and commenting that this set has 4 hdmi connections and they were surprised at that. I think they are sony guys. I would rather take the savings and buy another Vizio myself. If you want the best picture i've ever seen at a affordable price, BUY A VIZIO!! You won't be disappointed!

Vizio is by far the best. Review by SunnyD

I purchased my Vizio 55" XVT like some back just before Superbowl. I had finally convinced my wife to allow me to spend the 1800 on the TV. Of course I was on this exact sight looking over the different BIG TVs being offered. I saw the TruLED and couldnt say no. To my surprise also, the TV was 300 cheaper.
I own 3 Vizios now. I started back with the 37" 720p LCD. Thoought it was great for the money. After a year my boss turned me on to the XVT models and he said they were unbelievable. I found one and nabbed it. Of course it was only a 42".
Have been very pleased to say the least. Vizio has become my household name for the TV. I am a manager at a large box retail store and I cant pitch my story enough when asked about Vizio. I believe in the name, and product. Its easy to sell something when you believe the way I do about a product.
Vizio will be my next purchase, of course the blu-ray, but most importantly the latest 3D TruLed.
Keep it going Vizio, your leading the way.

Trust me, you will love it! Review by Stadarr

I had the Vizio 47 above the fireplace, and loved it. Just had 'the wants' in late '09. Reviewed A LOT ! Could not see a definite difference between the much more expensive brands and the new 55 LED. Got it a week before the Super Bowl, installed on a Sunday night. Now admit, this TV stuff is mainly a 'guy thing'. So, imagine my sense of pride when, with absolutely no request on my part, that my wife called me at work on Monday and said, 'WOW, this TV is Awesome!' She said that she and our 5 yr old were watching cartoons, and it looked like 3D. At that moment, she had watched more time on it than I had. But, do you think I was already proud ?! Sure was! Still am!
Cause we get compliments on this TV every time someone first views it.

Oh, and let me finally add...I had reviewed for months, finally decided to 'pull the trigger' and went to Costco, fully convinced that the (approximately) 1800$ was very well worth it. But, when I got there, it was $300 less! I haven't even looked since then, cause it really can't get any better. I don't want 3D glasses, any brighter would be fake, any less blur would detract from the action.

Watching the Falcons hopefully keep beating the Ravens right this second, and could NOT be more pleased with this TV! Thought the back lit was bogus, but it makes a very visual difference! Trust me. I am not a pro. I have been intending to write this for months, and like most, you tend to procrastinate with compliments. But, I can't find my manual tonight, and I want to hook my laptop to this fantastic TV, and while looking for the manual online, I thought it was time for me to let others know of my experience. Hope this is helpful, cause it sure takes me a long time to type this.

Pinch me! Review by mrbmw

I'm one of those guys who looks, compares, looks some more. I guess it's the thrill of the hunt.. I can honestly say this brand is by far ahead of the rest. When Visio first came out I thought they would be another ,Insinga, Hisensa, or some other want to be ,Get you with the low price cause it's kinda close with this or that feature, but not quite as good as the major brands like the Sony's, Samsungs, Sharp, Lg. WELL PINCH ME ,SLAP ME,AND CALL ME CRAZY..... But after owing this set for almost a year It smokes all those other guys , Best Hd tv I have ever owned,(this is my 3rd) And don't have the first complaint with this Set or Brand,, Seems like the other guys would have LEARNED a lesson by now. You don't have to burn your customers with high prices or charge outrageous prices for this or that feature, Offer a great reliable feature rich product for a fair price,(or in this case ) A great and affordable price , And your brand will sell it self!
VISIO YOU GUYS ROCK! Sony , Samsung, Lg used to be the BMW's ,Mercedes,And Audi...... Now thanks to VISIO They are all over priced YUGO's

On a scale of 1 to 10, this rates 100. Review by tomlynda

My wife and I brought this LED TV the Wednesday before the Super Bowl. We first went to both Sam's and Costco the day before and they were both pricing it at around $1880. Still it was a good deal, but my "6th sense" cautioned me to wait a day or two. The next morning I walked into Sams and there it was a $300 off. I raced to Costco and they had dropped $399 too, so I called my wife and we got it at Costco (the extra year warranty free) for $1, 575. I couldn't believe the price, as I had been researching flat screens for about two months and thought that the LED's were out of our budget range. I'm glad I waited for this beauty.

In the four months since we had it, we have had zero trouble with it. None. The picture quality is fantastic. We haven't gotten the sound bar yet (budget thing again-fixed income), but we will in a month or two.

However even without the soundbar and wireless woofer, we love it. It is the first flat screen we have owned (with the exception of computer monitors), but we have seen plenty at our children homes and friends homes, and they all say that we now have them all beat, and at less cost than they paid out for theirs. Oh they are jealous now!

I will recommend this TV to anyone, no hesitation. The model with the internet wireless connection came out the week before our 90 day Costco return was due, but we didn't take it back. Figured it would wouldn't be right, as there was nothing wrong with it, plus with the Blu-Ray player I brought, that has internet hooked up, so all is well with that.

If you are reading these reviews as I was doing back in January and December, look no further, but this beauty. If the price difference is too bad, get the next step up and get the one with the built in wireless internet.

Best Purchace i have ever made Review by jimmy

OMG i just bought a new VIZIO LED Tv. This is the coolest thing i have ever seen. I have a Vizio lcd in my bedroom and i thought it was cool until i started watching the LED. My wife said to me i cant even see the difference until she sat in front of it and we turned on a HD channel, now she is wanting to put this in our bedroom and get a new one for the living room. thanks so much Vizio. if i had a con it would be the width but who cares way to go Vizio, a top of the line TV that i can actually afford.

Blown away. Crystal clear with great sound. Review by Thomas

I too have other Vizio products (42 in LCD HDTV, VBR100 BluRay player), I did just as much research for the 55" TruLED as I did for the other products, and again no one came close to the picture quality and features for twice the price. Bought it through Dell and it was delivered yesterday. Setup was a snap, took all of 10 minutes from box to watching it. Watched AVATAR again last night and it was like looking at it for the first time. You felt like you were on Pandora along with the cast. I am a true Vizio fan and would not buy any other brand. Feature for feature along with price and service no one else can provide what Vizio does.

55" LCD DEL VF551XVT - EXCELLENT Review by tikiwi

We bought this television at Costco. The image is absolutely amazing !
It is totally clear, nice blacks and the sound is very good.
It is connected to HD illico and it seems like almost watching an excellent 3D.
Would recommend to buy this TV with any doubt.
The most good buy we have ever done.

Best TV's out there Review by steemer

My first Vizio was a 47" 120hz, love it. When the Tru LED/LCD hit Sam's I bought it. It is fantastic. Compared to Samsung, Sony Bravia etc. it has them all beat, best picture, ease of operating, best sound, just love it. It is our fourth Vizio, have 22" in spare bedroom the 47" inch in family room and the 55" in the living room. I also bought a 42" for son last Christmas we all love Vizio.

Customer Service At Vizio Won Me Over Review by Mac

This is our second Vizio. We bought the 47 1080 HDTV for our bedroom. We liked it so much, we recommended to friends and family. A family member bought one, and so did a friend.

We love our Vizio's. Had a problem, called Vizio. Vizio took care of our problem, and I mean right away without any BS. The picture quality is awesome, and knowing Vizio stands behind what they make is great.

Way to go Vizio, keep up the great job.

Oh hey we bought the 42 1080 HDTV for our grand daughter has a birthday gift. She loves that Vizio.

EXCELLANT TV Review by RayR

As someone that has spent more than thirty years servicing television receivers. I knew what to look for in a receiver.
This TV has surpassed all that I could want. Picture is almost 3D. With my Verizon FIOS connection HD is like the actors are in the room.
My choice to purchase this unit could not have been better.
Thanks VIZIO for setting the standard so high.

Best TV ever! Seriuosly! Review by nikong33k

I got the Vizio VF551XVT from my family for my birthday. I'm a geek so I was getting all sorts of questions from various family members as far as what type of TV I like and features I liked in TVs. They pretended that this was for my sister's replacement TV in order to surprise me. It was a very pleasant surprise! After almost 2 weeks i have no complaints at all. The picture quality is amazing. The full LED back lighting makes the picture quality rival the best Plasma and LED-LCD TVs I have seen. The TVs menu is easy to use; I never had to use the manual. The only thing I used the manual for was to figure out what that package with a cable and bolt was for - its to secure the TV from falling over if not wall mounted. I've attached my new Blu-Ray player to it as well and I have nver seen TV like this before. No cons seen as yet.

Outstanding TV!!!!! Review by KT

I bought this TV to replace a Toshiba DLP TV that I purchased about 2 years ago. This TV has been one of the best purchases I have made in a while. My wife who does not get very excited about electronics appreciates the quality of this television. The picture and sound quality are outstanding. I am enjoying this television and have no regrets for the purchase. If you are thinking about buying this television you are not making a bad decision.

Fantastic! WOW! Amazing! take your pick! Review by Steve

Where do I start.

Bought this TV yesterday and it is amazing. Went to Sam's and picked this thing up for a fraction of the cost of its competitors. I get it home and even the packing is smart, four tabs and the lid comes off. Once the top was off, the first thing I noticed was the shear size of this monster! By far the largest TV I have ever owned! But once I removed it from the box, I had it set up and working within minutes. The setup was simple and the picture is beautiful.
I am very picky about my electronics, I have researched and compared flat screens for almost 3 years. I was waiting to see what won the plasma/LCD war before I bought. I was leaning toward a Samsung or Sony. But control section of my work, there was Vizio used to display security camera footage. It went out last week, I assumed it was cheap and not a quality product then I found out it was on 24 hrs a day, 5 days a week. for the past 6 years. That's a lot of viewing time....(almost 40,000 hrs).

That was what made me start looking at Vizio. I was always a firm beleiver that when it comes to electronics, you get what you pay for. Cheap meant crap... But with Vizio you CAN actually get quality with a great price.

Bottom line buy this TV you will not regret it...

Buy One Review by Bob

Buy this set.

For years I have wanted a larger TV, but have always put it off as unnecessary / too expensive, etc. ( I have been watching the same 20” RCA I bought when I finished college, in 1989 !!!!!!! )

With tax refund money in the bank, last week I checked out TV’s at Wal Mart and Best Buy, several looked interesting, including the 47” Samsung LED / 240hz unit, but was put off by the prices.

Friday night at Sams Club, I saw this 55”’ Vizio, and was back lunch time Sat to buy.

Out of the box, the picture in unreal. ( I don’t know how to make any adjustments / haven’t even tried to figure out any settings.)

Sat night (looking for HD content to watch) HBO HD showed the Bruce Willis movie the Fifth Element. I usually hate sci fi, but the visuals in this movie sucked me in. The space shots containing planets / space with stars / space craft were incredible. (The contrast of the white clouds around earth / the deep black of space, was incredible.) In one scene, a hand reached out of the screen, 3 d effect. A futuristic cab is in one scene, you could see the smudges / dirt on the protective glass between the cabbie and the back seat “passenger”. The eyes of the lead female character were beyond words.

I spent the rest of the weekend looking for HD movies. Sunday night was Clint Eastwoods Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. The Montana countryside was gorgeous.

In short, don’t hesitate to buy this 55” Vizio.

Sick, Amazing, I would have paid $3000 for it Review by vonoventwin

After about 4 months of research, this is the sickest, nastiest, most amazing TV I have ever seen. Seriosuly! Regardless of price. I saw a couple of $4500 LEDs, who cares... This really was the best! Buy the TV, stick is Dark Knight in Blu-Ray and try to tell me different.... Oh btw, my living has the brightness of an island in the middle of sea on a hot summer BRIGHT day! Who cares, the matte finish + LED makes it very easy to see without glares.. I LOVE IT!

to keep it simple... 5+ stars, 3 thumbs up Review by SOLD!!

Well i decided what i wanted to say and logged in to do so, when i read some other reviews much better worded than i could, and some were to the "t" the way i felt. a review by The Future Of TV states: "I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive. The 551XVT doesn't have bluetooth or WiFi or the Vizio internet Apps or the Qwerty Keyboard Remote. Keep that in mind when viewing their website.
My old TV was a Phillips 55" HD Widescreen Projection TV. Even though that was HD, it can't even compare to this. Not even slightly!!! The picture on this TV when watching 1080P is "sick", its so crystal clear. I actually kind of dislike it in a weird way. When I am watching a movie it feels like I'm standing on the movie set and watching them film the movie. Its feels like I'm watching a play. Everything is magnified, if an actor is a bad actor, they look 10X worse. If a set is fake and chessy, it looks 10X cheesier. Before this TV it was like watching a movie with beer-noculars on. Everything was fuzzy and blurry which made shows seem surreal. Now when you watch shows, its like your sober. As a big fan of 3D, the TV doesn't look like your watching a 3D movie. But because its so clear it feels like your on the set and everything has a nice depth perception that you dont get with regular TV's.
Anyways this TV is awesome, get yourself a BJ's Wholesale, Sams Club, or Costco membership and buy it. Dell and Amazon have it too. You will not find a better TV anywhere. I have looked at the Samsung LED's many many times and honestly this TV is better. Nuff Said!"

and sorry for posting that much but OMG it needed to be said again. This is one of the ...THE Nicest picture I've seen.

another reviewer gave a great comparison between the "big-dog" in the market and i agree there as well. this is by far, at this time, THE BEST VALUE for an undeniably top 3 picture available if not the top.

Great TV with a like "you are there" picture !! Review by Road Dog

On Super Bowl Sunday I tuned on my 53" HITACHI big screen to watch the pre-game and instead of watching one image I was watching four ! I called my tech head buddy and he told me that the focus regulator probably went out, about a $500 fix. He said, after laughing for 10 minutes Costco had a great deal ($1,599.00 after a $300 in-store rebate) on a 55" LCD LED flat panel from VIZIO if I was interested. He told me if he was in the market for a new big screen, he has done the research and this would be the TV that he would buy. When it comes to electronics he has never steered me wrong.

So at 1300 hours on Super Bowl Sunday I was at Costco buying a brand new big screen! I was a hero amoung the guys that were shopping for beer and other goodies for the big game.

With help from my son and a few beers we got the TV hooked up and ready to go 45 minutes before kick off! The instructions for setup and for connecting the components were easy to follow. The HD picture is one of the best I have ever seen. This TV made the Super Bowl one to remember and thanks to VIZIO for making a great product! After working some more overtime my next purchase will be a VIZIO 42" flat panel for my bedroom! Thanks again VIZIO !!

When I first saw this TV, I said Wow. The Price is right and it is a true Picture and sound. I have a Sony wega and it isn't even close to it. I have to get it even if I have to charge it. I got it at costco At a good price and compared to others out there which are 1000 to 2000 more. Amazing quality, again the size 55 fits where I had my Sony. I'm a happy camper Vizio Thanks.

The Future of TV Review by TriAxis

I bought this 551XVT TV fromSams Club on Thursday 02/04. They have it for 1597.00. I had to buy a Sams Club membership for 40.00 to get it, but it was worth it. If anyone is thinking about getting an LCD, get this LED instead. LED is the latest and greatest technology. LED is still just an LCD screen, but the backlighting can turn on and off is different areas to make the screen brighter or darker. This is crucial when you have a white color next to a black color. This TV has like 960 LED lights, that turn on and off in groups of 12 at a time for a total of 80 blocks. Think of a Light-Bright where the lights turn on and off 120 times a second. Not to mention the TV runs at 240 scenes per second. Its still a 120hz LCD screen, but it doesn't look like one. I have not seen hardly any motion blur at all, and when I did it was watching a low-def show. All the Hi-Def stuff looks perfect.
I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive.
Nuff Said!

Amazing Quality Picture Review by jcurtis711

When I first watched this TV after easy hookup, the picture quality and detail was so good that what I was watching almost seemed like a digitallly animated show. However, it wasnt. I popped in a blue ray and wow!

I've never watched TV with this level of quality and I have 2 other LCD's and 1 other Sharp LED.

Love my Vizio!

Wow!! Review by Greg

I am a diehard TV guy and sports fanatic. This flat pannel Television is everything that Vizio advertises and more. I removed the stand, attached this 55 inch monster to the wall, and concealed all of the cables inside the wall. The entire project took only about an hour. The result is a thing of beauty. When watching a sporting event in high definition, it feels like you are standing on the field. When watching a movie, it feels like you are at the movie theater. Enjoyed by the entire family. All I can say is WOW!!

Call 911 I Stole this from Sam's Club! Review by Joey the Hammer

$1,200. I repeat. $1,200. That is what I just paid for this TV just days before the Super Bowl 44 broadcast.

In my room I already have a Samsung LCD 52" 750b series 240hz (not LED) hanging on the wall. Since I paid $2,400 for the Samsung in May 2009, I now feel like an idiot for not waiting (I couldn't wait for this Vizio 240hz to be released because Vizio Corp couldn't give me a release date). I knew the Vizio LED 240hz was coming so I didn't buy the Samsung with LED technology, and I liked the standard non-led Samsung to Samsung anyways.

I just put the Vizio on my dresser for a side by side comparison.

The LCD and LED/LCD are two very different pictures and the Samsung seems deeper and richer in quality. I am convinced the Samsung is a better TV picture quality even though the Vizio LED is a brighter picture.

The 240hz technology in the Samsung is SUPERIOR in performance as the Vizio is really 120hz with a LED feature added on that replicates the 240hz experience. Now notice that I said superior in PERFORMANCE, as far as viewing enjoyment the Vizio is superior in EXPERIENCE! Sometimes the Samsung is annoying on the 240hz mode and the adjustments are difficult and buried in sub menus, whereas they are easier to make in the Vizio presets, vs no picture presets in the Samsung for the type of programming you are watching.

So overall, the Vizio is bigger (55" vs 52") and the 240hz technology is more viewer friendly and the picture performance is brighter. The number one feature that makes me love the Vizio over the Samsung is the LIP SYNC adjustment!!! The Samsung has been driving me nuts for 6 months because the lips and the voice with direct tv are about a 1/2 second apart (sound first, then lips move.) Vizio has solved the problem I set it on 3 for lip sync adjustment and the problem is solved.

So head to head each tv has great features, but for the overall user experience and value, I choose the VIZIO as the winner!

Outstanding Review by Guccia

We thoroughly researched every product out there, compared the quality and clarity with the competitors. Interestingly, we found the only two close (not as good) were the phillips 52" and the Sharp Aquuos 60".

We decided after studying the direction the market is leaning that this TV was the best choice, greatest value, and the sharpest image. The TV was simple to setup, and we were surprised with the ease that it synced up with FIOS. From the time we unpacked the TV and set up it was less than 30 minutes. This is our second Vizio. The first was the 52" plasma two years ago.

WOW!! I have never seen a television with better clarity or picture quality. Watching Blu-Ray movies in Full 1080p HD is phenomenal. Look no further. Any attempts to find a better TV will be fruitless.

STILL IN AWE! Review by Pam

Let me say that I purchased this TV at Costco in early January after reading many reviews and looking at many units and I am still in awe at the quality of this picture! We have been watching satellite HD programs for almost 3 weeks and can't pull ourselves away. The TV installation was a breeze and the manual is actually very well written. I hooked this up with our Bose system and it's better than going to the movies!! Blu Ray DVDs and HD programs are all we watch now. We're even still mesmerized by all the nature shows!
Right now at Costco there is even a manufacturers rebate (which Costco honored even though we bought this TV over 3 weeks ago!), so you can get it for $1600 - which is a real bargain for such a great TV. Vizio rocks! I used to be a die hard Sony fan, but no longer! If you purchase this TV you won't be disappointed, only wondering why you didn't do it sooner.

Love my Vizio TruLED! Review by Tom

This is the TV we have been dreaming of for the last six months. Yesterday we bought it and at a special Sam's price of $1597! Can't wait to watch the Superbowl with this wonderful--out of this world--TV. Vizio makes the best LCD TVs on the market. We have three smaller Vizios we enjoy in other rooms but for the living room, this baby takes the cake. It has a beautiful HD picture with black blacks and extreme whites. The colors are so beautifully vivid and true. Needless to say, we are very happy campers.

Thanks to All Review by Running Cloud

I got the TV yesterday and immediately awarded it 4.9 stars. The rating went to 5 today after I figured out how to turn off the Tech Logo on the lower left of the set. ( I wonder why Vizio added this feature. It adds to the manufacturing cost while adding nothing to viewing performance.)

I want to thank all the reviewers who proceeded me. It was largely due to your praise that I bought this set . I live in an area where WalMart is the only retailer selling Visios. They didn't have this set, but the picture on the Vizio 55" non-LED bested all competitors in the store display. Coupled with your reviews, I bought this set sight unseen from Amazon -- and got triple reward points on my credit card. All in all, a great deal: the Vizio LED and a bunch of free books for my Kindle.

Unbelievable, Truly unbelievable Review by Anderson

This is our third Vizio tevelivision, and first LED and the realism of the picture is uncanny. Even old black & White movies and T.V. shows take on a whole new perspective. The picture clarity, the color, and the crispness are incredible and have to be experienced. Great price and value aside, Vizio, one again, is without peer !!

BREATHTAKING Review by Sirlumpy

VIZIO has set a new bench mark of TV viewing with the VF550XVT1a.
With the switch to HD broad casting I could not see the difference on my old TV. Then I got the 55inch VIZIO. Well let me say it has been am eye opening experience. There is a sports star that asked the question if sports is shot in HD should it be watched in HD. After he has watch this VIZIO TV; I think he would jump ship and say it should be watched in VIZIO HD.
With this TV allows you to see what the director of movies intend you to see the movie as they see it in their mind. Next you will be asking what I mean by that statement. I don’t care if you’re a Star Trek fan or not but watch the latest Star Trek movie on this TV and you will wonder if you are in IMAX movie theater. Not to mention if you have a video game system such as the XBOX 360. You will wonder if the game is really going on in the room you’re in.
With this TV I ask myself this question, would I go to the movies ever again or just wait to watch it on DVD? As of right now I would say I am staying home. I cannot wait till REDS Baseball. Opps did I give away what area I live?
The remote is easy to use also. Switching between the components that are hooked up to the TV has never been easier.
I have to admit that there is one area that this TV falls short in. Personally I feel it falls flat in the sound. I wonder if this was done on purpose because of the thinness of the TV or so that we would have to upgrade to the sound bar.
That is the only, I mean only thing, negative that I have to say about the TV is the sound. That can be fixed.
As you stand there in front of the bank of TV looking at them. I know that you will keep going back the Sharpness, Great picture, amazing, Clear, and wondering why the other TV are not like this. You would be a fool if you buy another TV because it’s a little cheaper.

amazing picture!! Review by Jerry

I have been doing research on flat panel TVs for the past several months by reading user reviews. Then I would go to various electronic stores and observe. I settled on this Vizio, purchased from Dell by the way. Words cannot describe the clarity of the picture. There are times I feel like I am just looking through a window with the scene on the screen. Watching the NFL playoff games was like being in the stadiums! I have also read complaints about the sound bar attached below the TV. I have my TV mounted on the wall above a fireplace and it looks GREAT! The thing that surprised me is the sound that comes out of the sound bar. I was worried about not having a sub-woofer but you don' t need one. This is a total package and Vizio has created a fantastic entertainment product. Don't hestitate on this one, it's a real winner.

First High Def - Love it Review by Beroy

This is the very first HDTV I have owned. We have a Vizio LCD at work, which has been great, but it's 4 years old and doesn't compare well to this new technology. I bought this TV the day before the divisional round of the NFL playoffs and I'm so glad I did. The games looked incredible. I also purchased a Blu ray player the same day. It has internet access for streaming movies and music , so I'm not missing that feature, which I understand a later model of this TV will have. I feel like I made a great choice. This TV has incredible definition, smooth motion and great sound.

It's like magic to my eyes!! Review by AceR

I own a Vizio for three years. I am extremely satisfied with the quality so I decided to purchase this one yesterday. I am amazed how it is crisp, vivid and brings every single image to life. I spent weeks trying to find something better than this one. Nothing can be compared to this product. I understand it is thicker than the other slim LED TV's, but who cares?? I care about image quality and not how thick it is, so this is why I purchased this one. It satisfied my needs and my family is extremely happy.
If you are reading this and thinking of buying a LED TV, don't think twice!! Go ahead and buy this!! I guarantee that you will not experience a buyers remorse.

New Level Review by SanDiego_Surfer

This is my second Vizio TV after buying one in March 2009 for my bedroom. I had a 52" Sony on my cart at Costco and was pushing it past a row of large flat panel TVs when I was stopped in my tracks by the sight of the Vizio 55", I was amazed by the depth of color and deep blacks in the picture on the screen. It took me about 10 seconds to make the decision to drop the Sony and slide the Vizio on my cart. I have been amazed by the quality of the regular and HD channels on this set. Blue Ray movies on this set are way better than being at the movie theater in terms of picture quality and sound. You will seriously not go wrong buying this set as soon as possible. Now I want another Vizio TV for my garage.

Read this first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review by Mr.B

I did an extensive amount of research before buying a new tv. I found that no other tv surpast this one in tech and the price was at least $500 up to $1500 cheaper than tv's with the same specs but had a different brand name. Right now there are plasma TVs going for $1000 or so with the same size but those tv's are very touchy. If you do one wrong thing around it the tv is shot. There goes your 1000. Plasma is a dying tech thats why they are so cheap right now. Its a waiste of money. Not to metion that the contrast ratio on the best plasma is 1,000,000:1 where as this LED is 2,000,000:1 but anyway compare all the specs if you dont believe me. This tv double just about all of them at least.. LED is the wave of the future and Visio is a new company buy now while prices are so low or miss out on this great deal.BUY BUY BUY even if you don't think you can afford it just do it

Excellent Product, Totally Happy with it Review by Linker

I have a Vizio 47 inch LCD TV that I purchase around a year ago and was totally happy with it, so I decided to buy an additional TV for another room in my house. Having already good luck with the first Vizio, I decided to go with the latest 55 inch XVT51. I was blown away with the quality of this product and ease of installation. I would recommend this product to any friend or relative without hesitation. I had one question when I installed the new TV but one call to Vizio Support and that was cleared up in a matter of seconds. I wasn't sure what the Picture Position adjustment was for. The technician Ray was extremely knowledgeable and very professional.

thanks for the Great Product!!

Awesome Review by Dondjr79

Great TV.. Was gonna wait for the 552 but Verizon Fios and PS3 allow everything the apps would have. Glad I didnt Wait. Picture is insane with Bluray as well with HD programming. Non HD channels can be a little weird at times but I think I fixed it with some screen adjustments. Sound is good as far as tv sonud goes. I am using the optical out to my Bose system. Color is great. No motion blur at all... I used to be a faithful Samsung man but this TV has changed my mind as far as spending more means getting more. This tv is priced GREAT. Thanks Vizio.. Now to go shop for a flat screen for the kitchen!!

Its all good! Review by 55

Decided to make a move to a new set prior set was an outstanding 53" 1080i Hitachi rear projection unit. After some lengthy research, looking at units that fell in my price range and recommended sets from the THX list for comparison, the Vizio XVT 47" on display was unbeatable. No matter what set I saw, including Pioneer Elite series, Samsung and Panasonic Viera, I found the Vizio provide the best image for the dollar. I decided to take a shot at the 55 sight unseen based on the outstanding 47 image. All I can say is the HD cable and blue ray picture are incredible. Every movie is brand new on this set. Not only in terms of clarity, but in how the unit is able to recreate detailed lighting queues that make the imaging naturally appear 3D. The black levels are everything you expect with an LED set. There are a couple of areas for improvement; Remote codes for blue ray players are not available, (but that's an issue for most sets including universal remotes). The second is the speakers are good for standard programming but you will need to invest to take advantage of the HDMI/Digital/Optical or enhanced audio output for Dolby Digital sound. So far, its all good!

Fantastic television for the price and feature sets Review by Methadras

I did research a long, long time. I literally held out years waiting for the promise of LED back-lit LCD's and before Christmas, the wife and I took a trip to Costco in a long time just to see what was sitting on their shelves and saw that this TV was there too. First of all, I'm not a fan of the non-detachable sound bar at all, so this really turned me off in getting the television. I was actually looking at the new LG wireless 55LH85 tv, and one of the Samsung A line of TV's. I owned a Zenith (before LG bought them) 52" rear projection LCD for 5 years. It was a great set, but after replacing 3 bulbs within 18 months of each other and finally watching the light engine die just after New Years, we had to get a TV. So I went back and did even more research and realized that the VF552XVT will be coming out in February, but needed a TV now. So I bit the bullet and bought the 551, set it up and I am very very happy and pleased with it. Setup was a snap. I've finally switched everything over to HDMI (Cable box, XBox, Blu-ray, Tuner, etc.) and I am as pleased as punch. In HD, this TV is phenomenal. I've never seen a better picture. It's better than a Samsung.

I'm still learning all of the new features with the 240hz smooth motion and the different viewing modes, but it's fun to learn and play with. Hey, if anyone has any calibration tips or wants to share their preferred settings, I'd love to see them. A couple of annoyances so far and they are very minor. When the tv turns on it defaults to cable, not the HDMI connected Cable box. I have to hit input to get it to scroll to that device. Also, when viewing non-HD programming, the TV, doesn't auto-adjust the screen to stretch/scale automatically. Again, just a minor annoyance that hopefully the 552 will take care of. Good job Vizio. Now let's see if the build quality and reliability hold up.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review by Sandy

Just set up the LED and WOW what a picture! I had a Sony WEGA 60" that was only 4 years old and it had what I thought was a good picture but let me tell you it takes a back seat to the Vizio 55" LED.
The sat is a lot less than any one else on the market that has LED's.
Great set and well worth the money.
Sam's has for $1876.

Best Value in LED Review by TV Expert

Pros: Great picture, brightness is good (better than perimeter LED illumination), contrast is great, whites and blacks look real, there is no motion blur- period, wall mounted it with articulating arm for awesome display, NFL games are a treat as are BD movies. Samsung's only advantage is their slender design but for $1000 or more, there is no comparison. Buy this is you are in the market.

Cons: None on the TV, Costco is a joke (according to the local store, there wasn't a Vizio TruLED in the state, but there were 4 at a store 10 miles away) but Vizio rocks. No support required as of yet.

Truly awesome value and picture! Review by Keith

My tired (11 years old) projection TV was really making me frustrated after going over friend's houses with HD TVs so I started my research. Wanted plasma for the blacks, then LED technology came out. Decided against plasma as I wanted a matte finish due to the lighting in my house. Compared all the large names, and always came back to view this unit. Unquestionably the best looking one in all side by side comparisons at the big stores (it sells itself being next to other brands). The price point sold it to me for the technology you are getting. Don't be afraid of this unit, you will love the picture quality. I'm still viewing 480SD on it and love the picture!

Can't ask for anything else! Review by DelBronx

This television is all that and then some! I reviewed and priced other TVs with the same features Vizio offers with this model, but I would have had to pay close to $2000 more for the competitor’s products. This TV is so good that it is hard to keep on the store shelves. It was definitely worth the buy. The picture on my 37" Vizio is outstanding but the picture on this VF551XVT is just superb. The colors are very vibrant. I am very happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone to purchase (except my friends because I want to remain the guy with the best TV on the block).

AWESOME TV Review by rack

We had a 37 Vizio for 3 years and swore it was the best tv we have seen until this unit came out. We were amazed when we saw it at the store and we decided it was time for an upgrade. The picture looks like the people are going to jump right into the livingroom. We put in a Blu-Ray movie and were speechless at the quality and color.
The sound on the old vizio was poor and we had to use other speakers but the sound on this set is perfect. We can set it to 15 and it is perfect.

I would reccomend this set to anyone that wants to get the most out of programming and movies. I cant wait till my wife goes to bed tonight to see how awesome Madden 10 looks with the PS3

WE LOVE THIS TV!!!! Let's put it this way, I've had a hi-def tv for 3 years now. I plugged in this TV and it's almost like I'm watching 3-D! It takes some getting used to because the 240hz make it look like no TV I've ever watched. Even watching regular TV is so much clearer. No more blurry camera angles. We looked at the Samsung LED that came out at Best Buy and this is a "Better Buy." You can save around $600 by buying the Vizio. I would recommend this TV to anyone!

AMAZING - I want one in every room. Review by jaysin01

Just bought this TV last night and had a write a review. I have been researching for months on a new tv and saw the LED technology and the price. I was planning on waiting a year for the prices to come down but VIZIO made it possible now. I was very hessitant with VIZIO because my mom has a older lcd and the picture quality is crap....until I connected her blu-ray play up to it. I was shocked that the picture was so clear thought it was a crappy tv and it was just the quality of cable being streamed to the TV.
So I looked into this tv more. Compared to all other LED TV's if anything this one looks the best. Ran to COSTCO last night and bought the last one on the shelf. Very easy to set up and mounted just as quick.
Put in Transformers 2 and was amazed by the picture. The FBI warning alone is a beautiful thing to look at. The quality of the movie was ridiculous and after 10 minutes of the movie I realized I had not heard a word because I was looking at all the detail and picture quality I couldnt focus on the story line. But it wasnt the first time watching so that was ok. Can't wait to get home and watch some more movies.
All I want for Christmas is BLU-RAYS

I realy appreciate the USB port to view my pictures or listen my music. Very comprehensive menu feetures. Sound is great compare to other HDTV TV without need to use home theater system. 2 years waranty with Costco plus one addtional year if payed with Costco credit card. Want more.......

UNBELIEVABLE Review by Rich

Just installed this masterpiece over the weekend and cannot believe the quality levels we are experiencing. After a few months of research and going around to see the competition, there is no comparison, especially at this price level. We replaced a 14 year old Mitsubishi 50" rear projection TV with the Vizio and it's like stepping into another time. Poeple walk into the room and are amazed at the picture quality, especially for sporting events. It was basically ready to go right out of the box with little installation required. If this is what we can expect from all Vizio products, I have no problem replacing all of my current equipment with Vizio.

I looked around for a good TV for a few weeks.Went to Sears,Best Buy,etc..Did all my homework beforehand.I even printed off the cnet and consumers reports and took them with me when I went shopping.I compared everything about every TV.I came back to Sams and bought this one on black friday. It was much cheaper than a Sony or Samsung for the same basic TV.Except this one has 240 and LED,which most of those did not.Easy to set up right out of the box.Great pic,amazing.Clear,sharp,perfect.I had read that the sound was not the best, but the soundbar under the TV is plenty good enough for me.No need to turn it above 25.Do your homework. Its your money.I did and am very pleased.

Barnone the Best TV out there! Review by C-Blok

I Purchased this TV to replace my 3 yo 56" JVC IDLA rear projection set. I had been searching for a set that was of equal size had no color shifting at angles, and was bright. I absolutely love the bright, vivid sets out there. I remember seeing a Samsung LED set at best buy and being impressed. After doing research I was sure that I wanted and LED backlit set with full array backlighting as opposed to EDGE backlighting. The full array sets were a little thicker but I dont care about that at all.

I originally read a C-Net review on this TV that hammered the off center viewing and decided to pass on it. However all other reviews were exceptional and for the price I kept coming back to this TV. Ultimately the reviews on this site sold me on a purchase. I was able to pick this TV up @ Dell for $1705 which I find to be an exceptional deal. Here are my thoughts after taking it out of the box and hooking it up (Which was simple with my receiver and Harmony 1000 remote)

OH MY GOD Stunned at the picture delivered would be a complete understatement. The LED backlighting makes this set completely amazing! The quality of the panel is unrivaled at this or ANY price point, and I mean ANY. I dare someone to show me a BETTER TV than this one. I have seen a lot of HDTVs and done a ton of research and this, at this point in time is the nirvana of LED HDTVs. I would also like to state that the CNET editor that said off center viewing was poor must have rubbed crack in his eyes before viewing this set. I can view it standing on the side of the TV and still be impressed. The litmus test was my Mother. You simply cannot impress this woman. She is the most negative, miserable person in existence. When she saw the set, her exact words were " Wow that is like looking through a window...I might have to talk with your father about getting one of these" That folks is all the review you need..TRUST me.

Vizio suprised me Review by JimmyD

So, I'm coming from a samsung 50 dlp that had a great picture for high def, and everything, and once my dad recomended a vizio because I wanted a new lcd led tv because I had read that they were great tv's he showed me this one. First I thought with the price being almost 3 grand cheaper than a samsung there must be a huge difference. So I looked and looked again, and came to the conclusion my dad was right you couldn't tell. So within an hour I had bought this tv for 1225, when it costs almost 2000 out the door. To all people looking for this tv it, shop no futher this is the one for you.

Absolutely Stunning Review by xforceguy

I have been wanting to get an LED for awhile now and my friend recently bought the 551. I have been over to his house so many times now watching blue ray movies and football in HD. I can honestly say it blows the socks off the competition. Another friend has another brand and I can definitely tell a difference. I currently have a DLP that will soon be handed down to my kids because as soon as the 552 is released for sale I will have it. Hopefully my Costco gets it right away. I just cant wait until I have this TV installed. I noticed Dell has the 551 on sale right now for $1799, so kind of tempting to just get the 551, but really want the wifi enabled TV.

Latest Update! These units will arrive in the USA at the end of January 2010. Worth the wait but hurry up, Please!
Great TV's, amazing quality.

Very impressed! Review by DRock

I've been waiting on this TV since I heard about it in June while shopping around. Decided to wait longer until the 552 internet connected comes out but couldn't wait to see this in person. I've looked at several high-end LED setups and I must say I am impressed. When comparing this unit to the other LED units in SAM's this one was clearly the winner. I'm still waiting on the 552 since I stream most of my content but seeing the 551 in action really has me itching to get one. Great work VIZIO!!

The Best TV ever!!!! Review by joday9953

I have owned a lot of TV's in my life but this TV is the best by far!!! It's like your sitting next to the people on screen. If your looking for a HD TV look no further... VF551XVT is the best !!! My wife hates to watch TV, says it is a waste of time but she sat down to look the new TV over and watch two bluray movies before she went to bed... I think she's hooked.

Awesome!! Review by EE

I've been eyeing this TV for the past few weeks at Costco. Finally purchased it on Black Friday to replace a dead Mitsubishi 50 inch I bought about 9 years ago that was also 1080. What a diffrence in picture!! I would recommend this LED to everyone!! Especially at the price of $1899.99 at Costco. Samsung wants $3500.00 for the same LED. Who cares that the Vizio isn't 1.5 inches thick!! It's basically ready to go out of the box. I would however recommend that you use the HDMI cable from your cable or satellite box to the TV. It makes the picture look almost 3D. Stunning!! Sound is great as well. I haven't challenged the volume capability yet since 20 seems loud on the control. Do yourself justice if you are looking for a big screen LCD LED and BUY THIS TV!!!

***Excellent Review by 85berli

Well let me start out by saying I have researched T.V.'s for a little over a year. I compared Price, LCD,Plasma,LED and Combination. Looked at color, size and Features.
After months of reading reviews and searching ads I finally made a decision to purchase the VIZIO VF551XVT 55" TruLED LCD Flat Panel HDTV.

Remember most people will always comment on the disappointments but not many usually comment when they are happy. look at the positive comments..
If you are looking for a 55" Television you better take your truck or borrow one and find one at Vizio, Sams, Dell, Costco before they are gone! This T.V. is incredible. great picture clear focus no blurring during football, (HD). Easy to install easy remote and Menus.
Once you have a set like this hard to watch an old LCD, or tube Television. High definition on this set makes most images appear 3-D.
Thanks Vizio for a great Set will purchase another!

Vizio VF551XVT Review by Bob

Purchased the Vizio VF551XVT from Sams a few days ago. The TV comes fully assembled with the stand. The box it came in was one of the easiest boxes to get a large item out of than I have ever had before. Just release four plastic clips and the box just lifts off. Hooked up the tv in minutes to my ATT Uverse system and it worked great. I did have 3 scattered dead pixels right near the top edge of the screen but you have to really look to spot them. The picture especially on HD channels is crystal clear and has great detail. Tuned into the Time Machine movie that was playing on a movie channel and the detail of the time machine with the gears etc. was fantastic. Can't wait to get a Blu Ray and try that. I personally like the lower speaker system and it works well without a sound system installed. I went through the menu and setup screens but for the most part it works very well with the default settings. I would recommend this LED model and the price is really good compared to other LED models out there.

Phenomenal! Review by Couch Potato

After seeing the commercial I shopped all the TV’s in all the home theater stores and big box electronic stores before I dropped the coin on this TV. I’ve owned bigger and much, much more expensive units including a $6,500 HD projector upstairs and I must say this is by far the best picture I have ever had in my home. My standard channels, and DVD are amazing and the HD satellite channels and Blu Ray are absolutely miraculous. With this picture and a modest home theater surround accompanied by a powered Sub Woofer, it is just like an IMAX experience. No joke!!! I just can't say enough about this TV. Go see for yourself, the picture sells itself.

AWESOME Review by stacy girl

I just purchased this TV 11-16-2009, I have never seen any TV like this one. This was my first time to have an HDTV. I have seen other TV's in HD and there is no TV that can even compare to the VIZIO LED HDTV. The picture and the colors are unbelievable. The picture is so clear, it feels like you are watching the movie in person rather than on tv. I would recommend this tv to anyone.

Awesome! Review by BennyED

I purchased this TV without actually looking at it based on the rave reviews. I previously had a 40" Samsung and was not expecting this TV to be so HUGE, but its awesome! Set up took maybe 10min tops and it looks amazing. I cant wait to hook my xbox360 up to it once it gets back from being repaired. I know its going to be sweet. Thanks Vizio for making such a solid product for so much less than the competitors!

Fabulous tv worth every Dollar!!!!! Review by Sandtrapper

Wow is the true word for this Vizio 55" XVT, did lots of research and found that Vizio
outweighed all of the more expensive tv's. Went to my local costco and found that in side by side viewing the Vizio was by far the clearest picture out there, also went to
a video store where lcd and led with the same and similar size cost much more for less pictre quality.

Hellagood Review by Billy Womack

This TV was super easy to set up and the picture is out of this world. We were watching Spongebob within minutes of opening the box. We have a large living room yet the volume is only on 10. The sound bar is awesome and it distributes sound evenly throughout the room. My daughter has made a secret fort out of the box and is coloring the inside. What a great purchase for the whole family.

Even my wife noticed the difference Review by RXCALVO

Replacing a Philips 52" (120Hz). You can tell the difference right away, even my wife noticed the difference. Without much adjusting the TV is almost ready out of the box. Less than 10 minutes connecting and tweaking to my preference and SHAZZAM! Magic thru the window!!! What a great product, I know eventually Vizio will have something better, but this is hard to beat. Highly recommended.

best tv for the money Review by jrou

This is the best tv I have ever watched. I bought it for dell for $1900 and got the blue ray player from wal mart, and the picture with blu ray is unbelievable. Haven't compared it to the samsung or the sony but why when this set sells for $2000 less with just as good or better picture and quality. I have 3 vizio's a 26" in my sons room, a 42" in my bed room and my new baby the 55" led in the family room. Oh yeah while I'm wriiting this might as well tell you the blu ray player is another great buy.

The best LED so far Raving fan. Review by Riptide

I have been looking at the LEDs for a while. I noticed pixilation on the Samsung 55 when it was playing a blue ray at the shop. Other abnormalities the longer I watched.

I decided to hold off on LED.

I saw this TV and it looked great so I bought one for my Mom. I waited 2 weeks than I bought one for myself. I was playing a 63' DLP and it was big and beautiful but I had. to buy a 200.00 bulb every year. I crank some pretty long hours playing console games. I thought the screen size would be too small compared to what I WAS USED TO. Not at all, the resolution makes up for it and along with being able to adjust accurately and easily for room lighting conditions.

First thing I noticed a near 3D effect when playing a blue ray. The picture jumps out and grabs you. The depth of field seems so much more accurate.

The presets on the picture will make you happy right out of the box. And yes the blacks are really black. I’m curious to see what the video files come up with on the custom settings. I am using all the pre sets and it looks great.

The gaming is fantastic and, I have yet to see any pixilation on bright scenes or explosions, and NO motion blur or delay. The detail is fantastic I can see things in the games I never seen before at 1080i. Some of the scenery in these games is extremely beautiful. It looks like a whole new world. The color and detail is beautiful.

Last but not least, the best onboard sound I have heard on any flat screen. This is one of the main reasons I bought it for my Mom. I find myself watching programs and media at a sound level of 14-24 with clarity and effect. If you want big sound maybe a 40, games rarely over a 28-34, norm. about a 22-24.
Musicals on blue ray (Phantom, Cats) are fine on 36-40 I am using” flat” setting more than any other, and classical. I do not care for the other settings.

Overall I think it is a FANTASTIC value. This motivates my purchase more than anything. There is a difference in “a good deal” and a “great value”

Unbelievable Quality!!! Review by BenHen

I'm extremely impressed with Vizio's new creation. The picture is amazing. In fact, my girlfriend says that it looks "too realistic". The colors are awesome and the 240 Hz feature definitely helps with fast movements. I have owned the 47" Gallevia, which I thought was awesome up until I got this new Vizio home.

VF551xvt Review by Butch

I purchased the 551 at my local Costco. As soon as I plugged it in at home I was amazed at the picture quality. The black levels are true and whites are whiter. My main concern was energy consumption. It runs cool compared to my old tv. I love the LED technology. The sound bar has excellent sound quality. I have trouble hearing voices and with this sound bar they come through loud and clear. I love it. I waited 5 months for this TV to come out and am very happy I bought this one. I will definitely get the BlueRay player and the extra sound system to go with this set. I play a lot of video games. They are beautiful on my new 551 Vizio. Get one! You won't be disappointed.

Great set for the price Review by ochilton

Great set for the price. My old TV went out and I decided to get an LED LCD TV. This set is $2300 to $2800 less than the Samsung or Sony with the same features. I love having 5 HDMI inputs and am using all of them. On HD content the picutre is great but on SD content not so good. Picture is bright and color is great and the screen uniformity is even from corner to corner.

Overall it's a great TV and it meets California's energy requirements for 2013. Being green is good for the planet.

STUNNING! Review by JHawkman

I purchased this TV after carefully reviewing all other LED HDTV's out there. I have a Phillips plasma, a Samsung LCD and now the Vizio 55" LED. The Vizio absolutely blows the others away! The blacks are perfect and the backlighting set just right out of the box. Total set-up time from box to the stand and working was less than 15 minutes and that included auto-programing cable and dish hook-ups. I have never reviewed a product before but was so impressed with this TV I thought i would let others know. You will love it!

Near Perfection with Amazing Black Levels Review by IowaTreeMan

I generally do not review products, but couldn't resist passing along the great performance of Vizio's new 55" LED TV. The picture quality is simply amazing in ALL lighting situations. We have had several different flat panels, including other Vizio products, and this is by far the best HDTV I have ever watched. I have never been pleased with the black levels on LCD TV's in dark rooms. With other HDTV's the black areas never really look black. But with this new model from Vizio, and its' ability to turn off the LED backlighting in dark scenes, black parts of a movie actually look black!

Very impressed! Thanks Vizio.
