i purchased this tv the 4th wednesday of october 2009 the picture quality of the tv is awesome accurate colors across the grey scale blu-ray especially my favorite, Avatar looks vibrant and colorful and games look incredibly realistic and the motion is very natural but that also depends on the content sometimes you can get motion judder like on the older progressive commercials very satisfied i have even talked people into VIZIO at my local wal-mart and they have loved them i dont even work for wal-mart and they should give me a commission lol

I bought mine on black friday 2010. I had another tv that I was planning to buy after doing a lot of online research. Got to Walmart and they were sold out of just about everything tv I wanted. I told one of the people there to find another Vizio as a last ditch effort and they ended up coming out with this one. I am truly happy with the choice. I love the picture and sound quality!

I've had the SV420M for about 9 mos now. It's been problem free and has fantastic HD quality and clarity. When a channel is truly broadcast in HD, the entire screen will be filled with the picture, and it's amazing that at times, there almost seems to be 'depth' in the overall picture. I believe this is due to the fact that the sharpness & clarity of the image ( person or thing ) focused upon, is in contrast to the slightly out of focus images behind them. Pretty impressive. What sold me on this TV was not just a lower priced 120HZ unit, but the quality of picture when compared to other units in the store. Fiddling some with the sound option menu selections creates a fairly full sound without external speakers. HD cable movies & channels look fantastic as well as high quality DVD media. If you're looking for real value, I think Vizio's got the market. The picture honestly rivals top tier units.

THIS TV IS LITERALLY THE BANG FOR THE BUCK I GOT IT FOR 558 FROM WALMART B4 THE BLACK FRIDAY GURUS BOUGHT THEM ALL OUT. CRYSTAL CLEAR PERFECT PICTURE PERFECT SOUND, AND CAN COMPETE WITH COMPETITORS. THE FLAW IS THAT THE REMOTE HAS TO BE POINTED DIRECTLY AT THE SENSOR ON THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE TV NOT AT THE SCREEN OR THE TV I MEAN DIRECTLY AT THE CORNER. AND IT IS NOT MANY OPTIONS ON THE REMOTE EITHER, YOU HAVE TO ACCESS THE MENU TO GET TO THINGS LIKE ZOOM CHANGE PICTURE SETTINGS, AND THERE IS NO PIP BUTTON EITHER.

I bought the tv from Walmart on line and bought it for a steal - 488.00. I did buy the extended warranty along with it. Ever since I took it out of the box I was amazed by the picture quality and streaming. I recommended this tv to my friends and family. I do recommend it as it is the best buy for your money.

I purchased the Vizio SV420M about one year ago. I will have to say that to this day I have not yet gotten it calibrated, but I left it on the "out of the box" settings and I will have to say that it is so crisp and so clear that I am amazed at how great this T.V. is for how cheap it was. The only two problems that I have are the auto dimming of the picture during dark scenes and the auto dimming of the sound during quiet times. Other than that, this is the best tv that I have ever owned. I recommend this tv to anyone! My brother n law bought this tv off of my recommendation and he loves it as much as I do. I just recently bought the HD soundbar and wireless subwoofer and it got rid of the auto fading of the volume part. An A+ VIZIO! I am a VIZIO customer for life!!!!

I just bought this yesterday from Wallmart, I was looking at a 42" LG, but for the extra $90. I decided to go with the 120 Hz and am very glad that I did. I replaced a 32" Westinghouse and this is so Superior to the W it isn't even comparable. I also rented a 40" Toshiba and it also cannot compare to the Vizio. I simply can't believe the Chrystal clear picture and no distortion when objects are moving due to the 120 HZ. All I can say is "WOW, what a TV.

I originally purchased the vizio vo420m for $598 and pretty happy with it. Then I saw the sv420m open box at walmart for $598 and couldn't resist the 120hz claim. Let me tell you it is a Night and Day difference when it comes to the smoothness of moving objects with in the picture. I would highly recommend any one who's considering a less expensive model to save up for this one or an even better XVT model. Smooth motion is what the technology is called and it makes hdtv much more real. I have yet to watch a Bluray on it but I can only imagine how crystal clear and smooth the picture will be. And that's exactly what we want right?! Virtual Reality!!!!

Purchased a 38 and liked it. but it had a line down the side and would not go away. Returned it back to Walmart without a problem. They were out of the 38's and purchased the 42. What a break for me... the picture is almost as if I am looking out my window.

Just bought this TV tonight open box for $550 from Walmart. The only thing I don't like about it SO FAR is that I went from a 50" TV to this 42" TV (smaller than I'm used to) and it didn't come with a remote (open box). But for what I bought it seems to be a pretty killer unit. I've had a 42" 720 plasma and a 50" 720 DLP. Both were good sets but images on this TV just "pop". You watch some movies and the images almost appear 3D. Pretty cool. I do wish it had a higher refresh rate. Being a fan of SPEED I can see where it lags just a little bit when the video is moving around a lot. But that's why you spend more and get the 240hz

I got this tv yesterday at wal-mart for 748.00. I was amazed at the clarity and color of the picture. I bought a 32 inch last yr and when I hooked this one up (in less than 10 min) I couldn't believe the difference. the people in the picture look just loike thery are in your living room. I commend vizio for making a great product and I would recommend a vizio to anyone.

Well I just set evrything up and man was i blown away.. I got mine from wally-world(wal-mart) $800.35 i paid tax included... There was a samsung 40 inch(Picture was clearer) but it was outta stock.. But as for the vizio man pic quality is sharp... I already own a 38 inch LG and the vizio just blows it out the water.. Great T.V. 4 n-e use and a great price.. even though it's a recession this is a must have!!!!!!!!!!

With the 50,000 to 1 Contrast Ratio and the 120 refresh rate this TV is a gem to watch movies and playing video games on. For the $748 price tag (at Wal-Mart) you'll get a ton more then you payed for. I connected my PS3 to this TV and WOW!!! the Blu-Ray movies on this is Awesome the picture and sound and clarity is perfect. Playing games on my Xbox 360 is pronominal if anyone is fan of gaming, you'll love this TV. You'll not find a better TV for this price.

Local pub put in new 42" VIZIO about 2 months (WOW) what a picture drove my wife nuts going on and on about the TV. Last week end she did taxes Sunday she said if I wanted a new TV to go ahead. Monday morning out to Walmart we went I was on cloud 9 went with SV420M better model than the pub . Glad I did from box to watching TV about 10 minutes. SOUND GREAT, PICTURE FANATIC, SETUP A BREEZE, ready for Sunday.

This is my Flat Panel TV, and it is great. It took awhile for the tv to recongize the PS3, but I can over look that. The Blue-Ray playback was great. I read a lot of reviews that said the sound was poor, and it is not true the sound is great.

VIZIOdefinitely a brand that is sweeping the nation with its INCREDIBLE products. I got this tv as an early christmas present during the black friday sales and I tell you, I COULDNT WAIT TIL CHRISTMAS! I got that box open and hooked the tv up so fast, my fingers were a blaze. I love this tv and as everyone else says, "I will buy nothing less than VIZIO!!!" This is an amazing tv and there is not one bad thing I could think to say about it. Great job VIZIO!!!

I am way past pleased! Very easy setup. I had a 50" projection TV before in this space and the vizion 42"HD really surpasses that. All my XBOX games seem like i'm playing them for the first time. The combination of the 120hz and the 50,000:1 contrast is a outstanding. The only thing I would add is a quick plug in for a set of headphones seeing i'm sitting in the middle of the living room. Other that that it's well worth the money!!!

I just bought this tv yesterday at Wal-Mart and I couldn't be happier! This is my second Vizio-the first one was a 37" that is now in my son's room. The 37" is a great tv also, but is 720p with a 60hz refresh rate, and I just can't believe the difference between the two. I never imagined I would ever see such an amazing, life-like picture on any tv! I wouldn't buy anything but Vizio in the future as I am very happy with both tv's. You can't beat Vizio's quality/value, so don't even bother shopping around for other brands. Wal-Mart is the place to go to buy also-you can't beat their prices. I got the 42" for $720.00-price tag said $797.00, but if you ASK, the manager can take 10% off for you. My wife used to work at Wal-Mart, so we knew this going in. When it comes down to it, any store can drop the price for you, all you have to do is open your mouth. If they don't want to reduce the price, go to another store... simple as that. Bottom line is, if you're looking for a fantastic tv at a great price, this is it!

This is a great product, great colors, and clarity.
Meets all of the posted specification.
Remote is very straightforward.

Tried to but one from Dell, but they did not deliver the unit,
refused to answer e-mails, and phone calls.
I don’t know why Vizio even deals with Dell.

Had to get mine at Wal-Mart.

Bottom line, buy one but get it from Target or Walmart and save yourself a boatload of time and stress.

Next going to get a 19” or 20” Vizio for my RV.

Thanks VIZIO, I am a satisfied consumer.

Wow !!! Great pictures, amazing clarity and sounds great although I run it through my home theater system. The television sounds great useing it's own speakers as well. This is my second VIZIO and I am not disappointed. The first a 37" is going in my son's room. The VIZIO experience is awesome no need for Sony, Samsung or other big name companies this VIZIO more than holds it's own with the big boys and offers the best picture quality by far.

I did TONZ of research! For value and everyday use, this is amazing! We love movies, and are avid X-Box and PS2 users, and we think this is great! We mostly got it for our 7mo daughter... TV is bad, we know, but she loves Sid the Science Kid. This TV is amazing the further back you sit from it. Great TV for 8-16ft away. We got ours at Walmart for $759 with tax and everything. Set up in less then 10min with hooking everything up!

This TV is GREAT! The picture is incredibly clear, no blurs. The only advice I have for anyone wanting it is to go buy it at WalMart. Same TV but sells for $797 versus the $999 tag on this site. That's what I did!
