Product Review (submitted on October 25, 2010):

I purchased this television to fill two roles in my home office; a secondary monitor for my dockable work laptop and as a small television for watching network television, local news, etc. I've recently connected it to my desktop in addition to my laptop, with each one using an HDMI port fed from the DVI ports on my notebook dock and desktop video card.

VM230 makes a great monitor, sporting full-HD 1080 resolution. The color is very crisp and clear. Whether I'm using it for web-browsing, watching videos, running music visualizations, and running work related applications, the images are sharp and rich. I can easily switch between using it as an extra monitor for my laptop or desktop by pushing the HDMI button on the remote to have it toggle.

Television viewing is great as well. I mostly watch the news and a few local HD networks. I don't use a cable box or converter, just the RF feed right into the TV. The image is responsive and very clear, with little to no ghosting. Shows are very detailed and very rich.

The only cons of the television are the sound, which many people have complained about. Tweak some of the settings, including turning off SRS and it will be great. This TV isn't designed to reproduce home theater quality sound, especially for a 23" screen size. For where this TV is ideal (bedroom, office, kitchen), the sound is adequate and does well. The other complaint is the slow channel changes.

It would be nice if this TV would automatically shut-off when there is no signal. I've shut a computer down as I've walked out of the house and come back to find the TV still on, wasting energy.

I'm upgrading the firmware as I type this, and am curious to see how it improves the TV.

Overall, I'm very happy with the TV and would recommend it to people considering buying it.
