Great product, needs a little more to be perfect Review by Aquila76

So many great apps (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, Pandora, Rhapsody, etc.) make this a terrific all-in-one media center (minus bluray or DVD obviously). The only thing I could slight this on is there does not appear to be any DLNA support, which is how I stream media from my desktop in the living room. Not a deal-killer for me as it supports literally everything else I subscribe to, and if I'm desperate enough it's easy to connect a laptop to it and get the DLNA media that way.

Also, responding to the commenter who states this is not Wi-Fi Certified:
Not sure what settings you're using, but I can connect flawlessly to my router which uses WPA2/AES with a complex 24 character key using upper, lower, and special characters. It sounds like you may have the encryption type set to WEP. The TV definitely supports punctuation, spaces, etc. in the Wi-Fi password for WPA and WPA2 in either AES or TKIP.

Good until remote is gone Review by retcsgt

I really like the tv overall. The wi fi is outstanding, The netflix app is perfect, works like a charm. Like all the rest of the people, the sound they say is not very good, however, I have it installed in my 23ft. travel trailer and the sound puts us outside, to us, it is that good. As for the night light? my wife needs it in the middle if the night. The only draw back is the remote control, after 5 months it quit working and no buttons on the tv to control it, con, Now I have to copy the faded receipt and email it to them, hopefully, they are able to read it. And of course, I'm finally writing a review after 5 months, otherwise, I would probably not be writing one at all. OVERALL GRADE B++

Nice TV ... WiFi is NOT compliant Review by not.WIFI.certified

Picture - Great !
Sound - as expected for this size TV.

Wi-Fi Compatibility: This TV is *NOT* Wi-Fi certified ... As long as you don't mind relatively poor (but adequate) network security, you can use Wi-Fi as long as your network encryption follows three simple rules...

1) no more than 10 characters within the wifi personal key.
2) does not allow non-alphanumeric characters.... (contrary to the on-screen keyboard, and the WPA2 specifications)
3) does not accept HEX, only ASCII keys

Or, put another way: No punctuation, no spaces, no special characters, and ONLY 10 characters ...

Fortunately, Vizio does not advertise the TV as Wi-Fi Certified, only Wi-Fi compatible.

PS: Why no DLNA ability???

Good for console games but kinda limited for PC users. Review by Omega

Pros:
1. Economic for it's price and size.
2. Great video output for console games (PS3, Xbox360, etc) and blu-ray movies.

Cons:
1. Preset PC resolutions for both VGA & HDMI are very limited.
If you want to play old PC games on a wide screen resolution (ej. 1280 x 800), well your out of luck. It's either 1024 x 768 or less (4:3 or 16:9 but stretched) and 1920 x 1080 while hogging your CPU/GPU.

I have not idea why these resolutions are not available in the first place.
1280 x 600
1280 x 720
1280 x 800
1280 x 1024
1360 x 768 (It appears in the overview specs but it's really isn't available)
1600 x 900
etc

And no it's not my video card's fault because I tested my PC on another HDTV brand (same cables and settings) and I could easily choose any of the above resolutions without any issues.
Could they be added with a future firmware update?
I don't know, but it would be great if it were possible.

2. Average sound system.

3. You can't use an USB keyboard for the pre-installed apps on the HDTV.
The controller is too clunky for those apps.

4. You can't turn off the Wi-Fi on the HDTV for the apps.
Either I haven't found the setting or it's not really there.
I just do a factory restore and leave the apps at off to remedy this.

Love the TV! Review by trumatt

I loved the price, the apps, and WiFi on the model. The only thing is the speakers aren't that great. They could have put some better speakers in the TV. We hooked up some spare computer speakers and now it sounds great. Overall, the TV is worth it! I love it and I'm probably going to buy Vizios in the future.

Good TV for the price Review by MNbuyer

Recently bought this TV on sale for 249 at Target. I hooked the TV up in no time, and connected it to the internet with no problems. I played with some of the apps, and I'm excited to use these, especially the Netflix app. The picture quality is good compared to our old TV. I did play with the sound and turned OFF the true sound (as other reviewers noted) which did help the sound improve to a deeper sound. It's a small TV so don't expect cinema sound quality.

The cons of the TV are that the VIZIO logo stays lit in blue when the TV is turned on, and a yellow/orange hue with the TV is turned off. We bought this TV for our bedroom, so this feature is very annoying. I know what brand TV I bought, and don't need to stare at it ALL the time. I don't need a nightlight either. Further, there is a blue light on the wall plug in, so there are two lights lit at all times weather the TV is on or off. I don't like this light problem and have not been able to identify any setting changes to turn off the logo on the front of the TV. I did put electric tape over the plug in light, but am hesitant to put tape on the front of my brand new shiny TV. I guess for the low price, you are subject to a full time advertisement.

Bottom line is I would recommend this TV based on its quality for rooms other than bedrooms.

loves and dislikes Review by LL

We bought this tv for our RV at Costco for $199.00 mainly because of the apps. We loved the streaming Netflix and apps. What we did not like is the sound-like a clock radio-yes I went to the audio adjustments and tried different settings. It is really annoying that there are lights on the front of the tv and on the plug that are always on, even when you turn the set off. Do not care for the shiny black plastic that scratches easily and has to be dusted daily that many electronic/computer products have today. Back to positives all of the plugs are in the center of the back of the tv it makes it balanced with not plugs getting stretched when you turn the tv. It is very lightweight. While the case is shiny the screen is matte and easy to see in all light conditions, no glare.

We returned this tv and purchased the 26" model with apps it does not have the always on light polution problem, sound is somewhat better, has manual controls on the back (handy if you misplace the remote) , but has the plugs on one side of the back of the tv instead of center which it the only negative for us. We paid almost $100.00 more for the 26' which is bigger all around..

Except for sound we are very impressed with Vizio tvs. It is great that Vizio continues to upgrade the set automatically after purchase.

Terrific little TV! Review by RENE

This little powerhouse is terrific. The sound is weak in quality and power, but IT'S A LITTLE TV! What do you expect, THX? It's features and built-in wi-fi work perfectly, and it has a beautiful picture. I would highly recommend this gem. Nice job Vizio!

HDMI Connects to PC Review by Zeifer

This television is a great buy overall. I've had mine for over 2 months now and it's still working spectacularly well. A small drawback that I'm looking for a fix for is the tendency to blur small text that is either red or blue. But, I'm not sure if it was intended for this television to be connected a PC via HDMI. It certainly does work and work well, but if you have a usual need to read small multi-colored print, it's not for you. Overall rating 9/10

Need to be able to upgrade firmware via USB, it doesn't seem to have that option or updates on the site. Customer support is also A+

Awesome Picture-Ludicrous Sound Review by hobodriver

Purchased 1-2-11. My wife and I are in our late 60's and bought this for less than $200.
This TV replaced a 12 yr. old Panasonic analog TV. It is used in our kitchen and will be moved to the bedroom in our camper this Spring. Read and study the manual before you run the set-up. It wil save you a lot of grief. The setup ran smoothly. The picture is awesome. The internet apps also worked as advertised. The quality of the sound is a throwback to the old pocket trasitor radios of the 1950's and 60's; After adjusting the bass and treble, along with adjusting the mixer settings, there was some improvement but the quality was still lacking. Our old 14 inch Panasonic had better sound. Vizio has a product here that would be second to none if they would improve the sound quality. A flush mount would also be nice instead of the wall bracket supplied. We also plan to buy a new 32 inch HDTV to put in our 5th wheel this Spring for our primary viewing but will be looking for TV's with much better sound than what Vizio has shown us.
