- Great TV Review by Lonnie

I've only had this TV about a week but my experience with it so far is totally positive. This is my third Vizio but my first 47" TV. Setting it up was really easy especially connecting all my peripherals. The only had part was trying to figure out which audio RCA out was correct so that my external speakers could be adjusted when I turned the TV audio down with the TV speakers turned off. I should have paid more attention to the manual where it was clearly explained. The picture is fantastic. All my movies look better and watching TV is a new experience. I will say that the internal speakers in TV's of this type do not sound very good no matter what brand you buy so splurge a bit and and get a good external sound system for the most enjoyable experience. I love watching the Fiat 500 commercials on TV where the cars drive into the ocean and come to America. It looks like you are actually there because everything looks totally real.......just an awesome picture. Awesome TV............

- Outstanding TV and Service! Review by Nevada Mike
-
I bought this TV from WalMart, had a guy come to my place to mount it, and then two weeks later was horrified as I watched it fall from the wall and crash into the DVD player. Sam's Club told me to bring it on over and they'd replace it with a new one. So I did, and within 10 minutes I was on my way out the door with a new replacement TV.
HOW GREAT IS SAM'S CLUB!?!
Now, as for the TV itself, I simply could not be more pleased. I have absolutely ZERO complaints, issues, or irritations about this TV (except MAYBE its compatibility with "universal" remotes, but that may be the remotes' faults).
First, the TV looks darn good even turned off. Its well-styled and even looks like a quality unit. Once its turned on, it comes on instantly with vibrant and sharp colors. The sound is perfect, though I do prefer having it come through my home theater speakers...but that's to be expected. I am constantly blown away by the quality of the picture, and I've had it 18 months!!!
If you are considering an LCD HD, you'll never regret buying Vizio. And for the price? I can't imagine anything other TV making my TV time better.(Posted on 3/7/12)
- Great for the $$$$ Review by Mike
-
Had mine since January this tear and love the TV for it's simplicity.Having four HDMI hook ups is great. The picture is rated up there with all the other brands.Just glad I have a sound system to hook up to.If you don't the $99 Vizio sound bar at Wal Mart is definitely worth it.

- Cost Differential Analyses of HD Upgrade Review by Phil
-
Three years ago I finally got on the HD tv tech freeway and bought a 26" Sony of which the contrast ratio of 20,000:1 was far superior to that of 750:1 of all 32" hd's I looked at. I settled for quality instead of quantity, and it has been a wonderful tv.
When considering an upgrade to a larger size, going to a 32' was a small step and decided to go into the 40's; and the cost differential between the 42" and the 47" was incremental. Moreover, the intrinsic amenity of the larger size is immeasurably more gratifying. I knew that had I "settled" for the 42", I would have regretted not going the distance with the 47". In short, never look back in belaboring over cost, but instead look ahead in enjoying a better product. I promise you will not think about the short term pain of paying a bit more to yield long term maximum enjoyment.
I'm in my fourth day of ownership of my new Vizio 47" HD. The reviews of other owners has helped level my learning curve in adjusting certain settings, and am certainly comforted in knowing now that I can use a USB on the set for my digital camera; and after I find a RGB cable to attach my laptop, I'll be in business.
So far, so good. Thanks to all of you.

- Great Price, Good Picture, Less-than-Ok sound, Compatibility problems Review by ChuckLePard

The Vizio E470VL is my second of three HDTVs. I have a 6 year old Sony 42" 1080i DLP, and a six month old Panasonic 32" 1080P LCD. The price on the Vizio was great - at $699, it was far less expensive than any other 46-50 inch set I could find. The picture on my Sony and on my Panasonic are clearer, but the Vizio is brighter. Overall, I am generally happy with the picture.
I have two disappointments with the television. The first is the sound. A number of people have commented on their happiness with the sound. My sound has never been very good since the day I brought the set home. It is in fact so bad that my wife, our son and I often turn on the closed-captioning to understand what is being said, and we have turned off the few concerts we tried to watch because the sound quality was so poor. I am considering buying a sound bar to deal with this issue. I would like to have one, but it is disappointing to need one.
The other problem has been with the HDMI port compatibility with my laptop. My laptop has a DVI-out port, and I have a DVI-HDMI converter and analog audio cables that I use to watch Netflix streaming on the TVs. My DVI-HDMI converter works great on my new Panasonic and my six-year old Sony, but on my Vizio, the picture will look great for a few minutes, then will blank to a grey screen for about 10 seconds, then come back to showing the program. This happens constantly. I have tried several different cables, but this behavior occurs on all of them. Also, The audio-in on HDMI port two for use with DVI cables does not seem to work correctly with my laptop audio, even though it works on both of my other sets.
I am disappointed these features don't operate correctly, as I had hoped to replace my $90-a-month cable television with $30 High-Speed Internet, Hulu and Netflix, but these problems make it appear unlikely, at least as long as my Vizio remains my primary TV.

We needed a new TV after our 2 year old Panasonic Plasma died and we were given 2 estimates over $800 to fix. Such a bad experience we will not purchase another Panasonic product. Customer Service was horrendous! Purchased this TV at Walmart. Setup was simple and after turning off the ambient light sensor the picture was awesome. Barely fit in my shelving unit so side inputs were blocked. Used a short USB extension cable and can run photo slideshows. All in all an excellent TV and an excellent value!
