- Great picture - annoying screen control Review by BruceH
-
We have had this television for about a year and a half. It has a great selection of inputs and even allows you to stream data to a USB thumb drive or hard drive to pause live television without the use of a PVR (kind of works like a PVR). If you want to wall mount it, the curved base stand comes off but the base pivot mount is permanently fastened to the television. It does not look bad being mounted so you do not have to worry.
The picture is great quality. Sometimes you have to play with the screen settings to fill the screen with the image depending on the format of the source material you are watching.
The sound is tinny out of the box but you can adjust it with the built-in EQ to make it useable.
The one problem (and only problem that I have come across) is the on-screen pop-up menu display that pops-up when you place your hand near the built-in proximity sensor. Apparently this thing can sense you 15 feet away as it continuously pops-up over top the program you are watching. Very annoying. One other person said this only happens when you use the HDMI input. With component input, the pop-up menu stays off until you wave your hand in front of the television.
Lots of settings to tweak the picture. Great TV for the bedroom or kitchen. Just don't use an HDMI source, only component or less.(Posted on 12/27/11)
- like TV, but have menu problem Review by bobk
-
TV is great. Extremely great for price.
We've had it since Nov. 2010.
A couple of problems though:
1) Menu on screen pops up on its own. Seems to happen after TV has warmed up a bit. Menu pops up on lower left of screen, covering a few inches. Stays up for maybe 30 seconds, then drops back down. Sometimes it happens enough to be annoying.
2) Remote buttons sometimes require repeated presses to get response.
Again, overall TV is great. Problems are minor.

Bought two of these tv's December 2009. Noticed after watching the tv's for about an hour the sound woud go into an echoed garbled sound. Turn the tv off and then back on it was fine. Called support a month or two later and they said I needed to buy a external Fat32 drive and down load some software because it sounded like a power influx issue or something like that. Things happend and I now just got around to getting an external drive. Downloading firmware and hope that fixes the problem. Nothing but good things to say about the company, I also bought a 55" LCD couple years ago and that is why I bought these two. Great customer service, I just wish they would have sent me a preloaded external drive early on to fix there problem.

- Fills All My Needs Review by Kevin
-
I purchased this television to fill two roles in my home office; a secondary monitor for my dockable work laptop and as a small television for watching network television, local news, etc. I've recently connected it to my desktop in addition to my laptop, with each one using an HDMI port fed from the DVI ports on my notebook dock and desktop video card.
VM230 makes a great monitor, sporting full-HD 1080 resolution. The color is very crisp and clear. Whether I'm using it for web-browsing, watching videos, running music visualizations, and running work related applications, the images are sharp and rich. I can easily switch between using it as an extra monitor for my laptop or desktop by pushing the HDMI button on the remote to have it toggle.
Television viewing is great as well. I mostly watch the news and a few local HD networks. I don't use a cable box or converter, just the RF feed right into the TV. The image is responsive and very clear, with little to no ghosting. Shows are very detailed and very rich.
The only cons of the television are the sound, which many people have complained about. Tweak some of the settings, including turning off SRS and it will be great. This TV isn't designed to reproduce home theater quality sound, especially for a 23" screen size. For where this TV is ideal (bedroom, office, kitchen), the sound is adequate and does well. The other complaint is the slow channel changes.
It would be nice if this TV would automatically shut-off when there is no signal. I've shut a computer down as I've walked out of the house and come back to find the TV still on, wasting energy.
I'm upgrading the firmware as I type this, and am curious to see how it improves the TV.
Overall, I'm very happy with the TV and would recommend it to people considering buying it.(Posted on 10/25/10)
- Great HD at the price and style Review by BP

Love the Razor then and stays cool through out the day. Better picture quality than a 720P. This is a replacement for a 12 yr old Panasonic 25in TV. Better picture than any other TV with any brand name the same size or bigger 720P and 1080P.

- Buying another one. Review by Bob

I use this tv at our breakfast bar. It is connected to a high def cable box and to the hdmi output of a small desktop computer. Does a fantastic job as a TV and as a Monitor. Thin design, great styling, great picture, and considering its thin profile, the sound is ok. Not Home Theater quality, but who would expect that in a set this thin. My only complaint, is that the menu screen pops up on its own. Have a feeling it may be caused by the computers wireless keyboard and mouse. Am now looking at a 26 inch one to do the same thing, but in the computer room.

- Very Good TV Review by KeithK

I ordered this TV from WalMart online and received it about a week ago. I plugged it into my DirecTV box and I must admit, the overall picture & sound quality of both HD and non HD channels is very good.
It's a very slim TV, so it will fit nicely on a shelf or the dresser in your room.
The remote control is small and has a nice quality feel to it (I hate remotes with thousands of buttons. This remote is NOT one of those).
The only additional thing that I decided to do was purchase a VESA-Compliant monitor stand for it, which allows me to rotate the TV easier and raise it up or down for viewing comfort while in bed. The stand provided only allows you to swivel the TV's angle up or down.
The stand I bought was (it works well with this TV):

It's a good TV, folks.(Posted on 8/11/10)
