- to keep it simple... 5+ stars, 3 thumbs up Review by SOLD!!

Well i decided what i wanted to say and logged in to do so, when i read some other reviews much better worded than i could, and some were to the "t" the way i felt. a review by The Future Of TV states: "I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive. The 551XVT doesn't have bluetooth or WiFi or the Vizio internet Apps or the Qwerty Keyboard Remote. Keep that in mind when viewing their website.
My old TV was a Phillips 55" HD Widescreen Projection TV. Even though that was HD, it can't even compare to this. Not even slightly!!! The picture on this TV when watching 1080P is "sick", its so crystal clear. I actually kind of dislike it in a weird way. When I am watching a movie it feels like I'm standing on the movie set and watching them film the movie. Its feels like I'm watching a play. Everything is magnified, if an actor is a bad actor, they look 10X worse. If a set is fake and chessy, it looks 10X cheesier. Before this TV it was like watching a movie with beer-noculars on. Everything was fuzzy and blurry which made shows seem surreal. Now when you watch shows, its like your sober. As a big fan of 3D, the TV doesn't look like your watching a 3D movie. But because its so clear it feels like your on the set and everything has a nice depth perception that you dont get with regular TV's.
Anyways this TV is awesome, get yourself a BJ's Wholesale, Sams Club, or Costco membership and buy it. Dell and Amazon have it too. You will not find a better TV anywhere. I have looked at the Samsung LED's many many times and honestly this TV is better. Nuff Said!"
and sorry for posting that much but OMG it needed to be said again. This is one of the ...THE Nicest picture I've seen.
another reviewer gave a great comparison between the "big-dog" in the market and i agree there as well. this is by far, at this time, THE BEST VALUE for an undeniably top 3 picture available if not the top.(Posted on 2/11/10)

On Super Bowl Sunday I tuned on my 53" HITACHI big screen to watch the pre-game and instead of watching one image I was watching four ! I called my tech head buddy and he told me that the focus regulator probably went out, about a $500 fix. He said, after laughing for 10 minutes Costco had a great deal ($1,599.00 after a $300 in-store rebate) on a 55" LCD LED flat panel from VIZIO if I was interested. He told me if he was in the market for a new big screen, he has done the research and this would be the TV that he would buy. When it comes to electronics he has never steered me wrong.
So at 1300 hours on Super Bowl Sunday I was at Costco buying a brand new big screen! I was a hero amoung the guys that were shopping for beer and other goodies for the big game.
With help from my son and a few beers we got the TV hooked up and ready to go 45 minutes before kick off! The instructions for setup and for connecting the components were easy to follow. The HD picture is one of the best I have ever seen. This TV made the Super Bowl one to remember and thanks to VIZIO for making a great product! After working some more overtime my next purchase will be a VIZIO 42" flat panel for my bedroom! Thanks again VIZIO !!(Posted on 2/10/10)

When I first saw this TV, I said Wow. The Price is right and it is a true Picture and sound. I have a Sony wega and it isn't even close to it. I have to get it even if I have to charge it. I got it at costco At a good price and compared to others out there which are 1000 to 2000 more. Amazing quality, again the size 55 fits where I had my Sony. I'm a happy camper Vizio Thanks.

I bought this 551XVT TV fromSams Club on Thursday 02/04. They have it for 1597.00. I had to buy a Sams Club membership for 40.00 to get it, but it was worth it. If anyone is thinking about getting an LCD, get this LED instead. LED is the latest and greatest technology. LED is still just an LCD screen, but the backlighting can turn on and off is different areas to make the screen brighter or darker. This is crucial when you have a white color next to a black color. This TV has like 960 LED lights, that turn on and off in groups of 12 at a time for a total of 80 blocks. Think of a Light-Bright where the lights turn on and off 120 times a second. Not to mention the TV runs at 240 scenes per second. Its still a 120hz LCD screen, but it doesn't look like one. I have not seen hardly any motion blur at all, and when I did it was watching a low-def show. All the Hi-Def stuff looks perfect.
I did want to hold out for the 552XVT, but I'm sure that will be much more expensive. The 551XVT doesn't have bluetooth or WiFi or the Vizio internet Apps or the Qwerty Keyboard Remote. Keep that in mind when viewing their website.

- Amazing Quality Picture Review by jcurtis711

When I first watched this TV after easy hookup, the picture quality and detail was so good that what I was watching almost seemed like a digitallly animated show. However, it wasnt. I popped in a blue ray and wow!
I've never watched TV with this level of quality and I have 2 other LCD's and 1 other Sharp LED.
Love my Vizio!(Posted on 2/8/10)
- Wow!! Review by Greg

I am a diehard TV guy and sports fanatic. This flat pannel Television is everything that Vizio advertises and more. I removed the stand, attached this 55 inch monster to the wall, and concealed all of the cables inside the wall. The entire project took only about an hour. The result is a thing of beauty. When watching a sporting event in high definition, it feels like you are standing on the field. When watching a movie, it feels like you are at the movie theater. Enjoyed by the entire family. All I can say is WOW!!

- Call 911 I Stole this from Sam's Club! Review by Joey the Hammer

$1,200. I repeat. $1,200. That is what I just paid for this TV just days before the Super Bowl 44 broadcast.
In my room I already have a Samsung LCD 52" 750b series 240hz (not LED) hanging on the wall. Since I paid $2,400 for the Samsung in May 2009, I now feel like an idiot for not waiting (I couldn't wait for this Vizio 240hz to be released because Vizio Corp couldn't give me a release date). I knew the Vizio LED 240hz was coming so I didn't buy the Samsung with LED technology, and I liked the standard non-led Samsung to Samsung anyways.
I just put the Vizio on my dresser for a side by side comparison.
The LCD and LED/LCD are two very different pictures and the Samsung seems deeper and richer in quality. I am convinced the Samsung is a better TV picture quality even though the Vizio LED is a brighter picture.
The 240hz technology in the Samsung is SUPERIOR in performance as the Vizio is really 120hz with a LED feature added on that replicates the 240hz experience. Now notice that I said superior in PERFORMANCE, as far as viewing enjoyment the Vizio is superior in EXPERIENCE! Sometimes the Samsung is annoying on the 240hz mode and the adjustments are difficult and buried in sub menus, whereas they are easier to make in the Vizio presets, vs no picture presets in the Samsung for the type of programming you are watching.
So overall, the Vizio is bigger (55" vs 52") and the 240hz technology is more viewer friendly and the picture performance is brighter. The number one feature that makes me love the Vizio over the Samsung is the LIP SYNC adjustment!!! The Samsung has been driving me nuts for 6 months because the lips and the voice with direct tv are about a 1/2 second apart (sound first, then lips move.) Vizio has solved the problem I set it on 3 for lip sync adjustment and the problem is solved.
So head to head each tv has great features, but for the overall user experience and value, I choose the VIZIO as the winner!(Posted on 2/7/10)
- Outstanding Review by Guccia

We thoroughly researched every product out there, compared the quality and clarity with the competitors. Interestingly, we found the only two close (not as good) were the phillips 52" and the Sharp Aquuos 60".
We decided after studying the direction the market is leaning that this TV was the best choice, greatest value, and the sharpest image. The TV was simple to setup, and we were surprised with the ease that it synced up with FIOS. From the time we unpacked the TV and set up it was less than 30 minutes. This is our second Vizio. The first was the 52" plasma two years ago.

WOW!! I have never seen a television with better clarity or picture quality. Watching Blu-Ray movies in Full 1080p HD is phenomenal. Look no further. Any attempts to find a better TV will be fruitless.

- STILL IN AWE! Review by Pam
-
Let me say that I purchased this TV at Costco in early January after reading many reviews and looking at many units and I am still in awe at the quality of this picture! We have been watching satellite HD programs for almost 3 weeks and can't pull ourselves away. The TV installation was a breeze and the manual is actually very well written. I hooked this up with our Bose system and it's better than going to the movies!! Blu Ray DVDs and HD programs are all we watch now. We're even still mesmerized by all the nature shows!
Right now at Costco there is even a manufacturers rebate (which Costco honored even though we bought this TV over 3 weeks ago!), so you can get it for $1600 - which is a real bargain for such a great TV. Vizio rocks! I used to be a die hard Sony fan, but no longer! If you purchase this TV you won't be disappointed, only wondering why you didn't do it sooner.(Posted on 2/1/10)

The TRU LEDs of the VF551XVT are plentiful, and addressable by zone, for blacks like you've probably never seen on LCD before.
