VIZIO is coming out with a $1,000 50-inch set this year that will be its smallest and cheapest UHDTV this year equipped with high-efficiency video decoding, or HEVC. That lets the TV pump out the endless river of colorful pixels using a data stream with more information packed into it.

The company plans to release an ultra-high-definition 120-inch LED television that will raise the bar in visual and audio technology.

And televisions, in general, are becoming supersized.

“Three or four years ago, a 55-inch TV was considered huge,” said Matt McRae, Vizio’s chief technology officer. “Today, we consider a 55-inch TV to be medium-sized.”
