Vizio 42" 5.1 Home Theater Sound Bar with Subwoofer and Satellite Speakers

Most soundbars fake it 'cause they can't make it. With just two speakers (and sometimes a subwoofer), soundbars use tricks like bouncing sound off walls to emulate the surround sound that a real home theater system creates. It usually doesn't work.

The home computer is becoming more and more important to home entertainment and VIZIO looks to capitalize on this with the recent announcement of the availability of the company's line of personal computers. By combining its entertainment know-how with the power of the latest Intel Core processors, VIZIO intends to set a new standard for the Windows experience. The line consists of the VIZIO Thin + Light, Notebook, and All-in-One PC.

Calling on its HDTV background, VIZIO developed the PCs with contrast, image quality and viewing angles top of mind, giving PC users an experience that harkens to that of an HDTV. Combined with an NVIDIA Kepler-Class GeForce GPU, the HD display of the VIZIO PCs makes watching movies, gaming and streaming TV shows enjoyable. VIZIO Vs. Apple

Vizio has recently announced its new line of computers – a wave of sleek computers that are more than a little reminiscent to the products coming out of Cupertino.

We haven’t reviewed the unreleased Vizios yet, so we can’t judge their faults or merits yet, we can spec them out and see which computer has the most impressive specs at a similar price point. It’s important to note that Vizio has cheaper hardware on the low-end, but once you get to comparable models, it’s anyone’s game.

And finally, finally, finally, Vizio has fully unveiled its brand new line up of laptops and all-in-ones. The successful American TV maker announced its new kit at CES in January, catching my eyes with a set of beautiful, distinctive laptops and all-in-ones, and, as they promised back then, they have now unveiled all. This has want written all over it. Update: Rejoice: non-glossy, matte screens on the laptop.

Especially the all-in-ones intrigue me. I'm actually a fan of the form-factor, but few companies have ever been able to offer decent Windows all-in-ones that even came close to Apple's iMac. These new machines by Vizio seem to be the first - and it's done by a newcomer, not an incumbent. The only question remaining was price, and it seems Vizio has nailed that one as well.

Vizio, a company long known for making TVs, is officially throwing at least a few eggs into the PC market basket with the launch of a new PC line, including all-in-one desktops and portable computers.

Cnet reports that the new systems are mixing high-end components with slick designs, fairly reminiscent of Apple’s iMac. Their new models boast the current trends of aesthetic minimalism, including unibody construction, hidden hinges, and full HD displays.

Vizio is best known for making inexpensive televisions. But the company is getting into the computer space, and while its first laptops aren’t exactly cheap, they’re actually very reasonably priced by ultrabook standards. And at least two of the first notebooks from Vizio are ultrabooks, featuring thin and light cases and Intel Ivy Bridge processors.

Today Vizio finally announced its new lineup os Ultrabooks, laptops, and All-In-One PCs, trying to break into another mature market.

Vizio’s new devices all feature the company’s “undercut” design which looks like a riff on the “inevitable” design of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Like Apple’s new notebooks, Vizio uses the latest Intel Ivy Bridge CPU.

The company’s new “Thin +Light” Ultrabooks have similar specs to  the MacBook Air with Intel HD 4000 graphics and the aforementioned Ivy Bridge processors. Unlike the MacBook Air, Vizio’s “Thin+Lights” come with 14-inch and 15.6-inch displays.

At its grand PC unveiling event today, Vizio announced that it will be creating a number of "experience stores" that it will bring to a number of locations, including Microsoft stores, college campuses, and events like SXSW. Vizio says that it won't be selling products at these stores, opting to tease consumers with impressions of its new products. The effort is similar to those made by other electronics manufacturers like Samsung, which has opened its own experience stores in select locations, and Apple, which sells products in its own branded areas at Best Buy.
