- Good TV but Review by Steve123

Overall I'm happy with this TV, but have a few complaints that come with the territory of a complaex computer based system. I ran the TV with Xfinity for 6 months, with ATT internet TV/Hulu, both wired and wireless, with two DVDs, an old playstation, and a laptop, and several antennas as input sources. All worked with excellent imaging and adequate sound. Adding a soundbar brought sound quality from adequate to excellent. My gripes are as follows.
It took a while to get the screen size right for all input sources. When the signal is poor (off the HD antenna) we sometimes lose sound, have brief blackouts, and even have had the system crash and turn itself off. The process for updating firmware appears very manual (via usb drive) and I have yet to find a firmware update. I have yet to find a full web browser app. Hulu would sometimes hang on commercials until I contacted their support for a change in IP addresses for the Vizio. Overall I am not disappointed with this purchase and would buy this TV again.(Posted on 11/18/12)

- LOVING IT! Review by Adria

This is the first LED flat screen we have owned, and I have got to say WOW! This TV is just about the neatest thing we have ever seen! The apps are a tad disappointing though. While I can check facebook (cool!), I can't actually get online to check e-mail (Yahoo), which would be a nice feature. Also, it would be great if you could connect a wireless mouse/keyboard to type with for facebook and other apps. The bluetooth remote is pretty nifty, but a little large to type on, since it is held like a slider phone. However, there are so many bonuses with this TV, the little disappointments aren't anything I can't live with. WAY TO GO VIZIO!!!!!

- Awesome Except for the Weird sound setup Review by klink

This TV has an awesome picture but the sound thing is just weird. My sound dial on remote doesnt work and it took me over 30 mins to figure out how to get the tv to even play some sound. But other than that this tv is da shiznit.

- My First HDTV Review by When2RNLove

I don't usually buy things site unseen, but there were no displays of this model to see in the store. Only other Vizio's, 42" and up, captured and kept my attention with an outstanding picture, and being on the thin side. The down side for me, I paid $698 excluding taxes, and at least the remote could have had a couple of led's for back lighting.
Viewing is no issue with blinds open or closed, or viewing from an angle.(Posted on 12/17/11)
- Good picture in daytime. Tinny sound. So so apps. One major issue. Review by acturisme
-
Picture 9/10
My apartment is very bright because it has bright white painted walls. This tv is easy to see unless the sun is hitting it dead on. Can't reposition the set anywhere else due to the way the place is built.
Sound N/A
The sound out of the set is tinny and very hi toned. Due to the limitations of the size of the speakers that will fit that's to be expected. Get a Dolby compatible system or a sound bar. I got the vizio sound bar to match and have no real sound issues.
Apps 3/10 I only really use the netflix and hulu featured apps. Those work very well. I share a DSL connection with several ppl in my appt. bldg. These services have very little trouble unless some jack*ss is downloading a large file.
The issue. The damn screen turns itself off at random if I'm using either of my game systems. Both my XBOX 360 and PS3 are connected via hdmi cables of good quality. Yet anytime the system shows a static image for more than a few minutes the screen goes blank. This is troublesome. It has even gone blank on me during a mw3 deathmatch. This needs to be fixed. I have looked for any kind of built in screen saver that needs to be shut off but cannot find any. I'll call vizio again to try to fix this but its not looking good.

Would get an A+ if the TV didn't turn Itself without warning to complete updates. Only happens about once every two weeks, but can be a major pain during sports and gaming. Also, some reviewers complain that this TVs speakers are not very good. It's only 1.8 inches thick, they can't fit anything better in there. Buy a soundbar ;)

- Overall a great TV, but... Review by DaveFromRI
-
The clarity and brightness of this TV blew me away after getting rid of my old TV, who's name of Samsung I won't mention. I'm well within the return-to-store time to decide to keep it or not, and after 3 days, I'm fairly certain I'm going to keep it...with some gripes.
1. The sound is screwed up:
a) The built-in speakers sound like tin-cans and twine. What's up with that?
b) External (amplified speakers) sound great, but the volume changes between
analog signal and HD channels is unreasonable. Granted, this be a problem
with my cable company sending audio too high, but this model has a built-in
volume limiter. Where the heck is it!
c) The built-in speakers have even volume levels across both standard and
HD channels. That surprises me, but it is what it is.
2. It takes 13 seconds to turn on. Geez, one can go get a cup of coffee in that time.
3. Nowhere (that I could find) does any documentation tell you that to "enter" (as in pressing an [Enter] button) a channel number, you can press the [OK] button. The last few days I had to wait several seconds while the TV decided whether I was done or not, but now I figured out I can press [OK], and move along.
4. App! Where are any good apps? I was promised by the store that I could surf the web and check email (via a web-based app). Where????
5. Imagine that it's late at night, you can't sleep, and you want your Vizio to lull you off to sleep land watching something boring like HLN (repeats every 30 minutes, which works well for me). But, you can't see the darn remote because it's neither lighted or back-lighted! Ugg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All and all, I would throw away all of my gripes except for the volume issue. I can still return it, and may call Vizio to see what can be done (the ability to do remote firmware updates is pretty darn cool).
If they can't fix it, this might become a returned item. I doubt it's a "setting" problem as I've tried all of them. Vizio could loose a purchase at this point...it's up in the air as to what their response will be.
Final review: Great TV if you don't mind tin-can speakers.(Posted on 9/20/11)

This is a great TV. It is our first Vizio and we are already looking for another one for our son at college. The pic is so clear and we watch alot of action movies. Motion stays clear. The apps are an extra we were not looking for, but have enjoyed them. Will definitely stick with Vizio in the future.

- Good Value- Nice Features Review by JT

I like the Vizio TV. No, it's not perfect, but I haven't found one that is.
First the setup. I was dreading getting it up the stairs and out of the box, but it is a very light TV, also very thin. Pull out 4 snaps from the side of the box and the top comes off no wrestling the tv out of the box. You will need large clear space to put the base on the tv and have it covered with something soft so you don't scratch the screen. Thankfully thumb screws are all you need to put on (no screwdriver) and that's it, you're ready to place it. See my note about network connectivity and updating.
The picture is clear both from a cable input and from the HD antenna. Both are clear.
4 HDMI inputs I thought was a lot until I started to look at what I had, Game, BlueRay, Tivo, and if I connect my computer with HDMI i'm out. But I don't think I'll need another, but it's good to have enough.
Really nice sound compared with my prior Vizio which wasn't bad, but this is so much more crisp. Some sounds (usually commercials I had to use to Tivo to hear again because I sounded like the sound wasn't coming from the TV, IE: Crickets, Sirens... cool)
VIA apps are ok, some are sort of silly (trying to create a reason for having them) I use Netflix, but Blockbuster and Amazon Video are also represented along with Hulu Plus. Give me choices. Some tech shows have their own widget so I can watch them from TV instead of PC.
Lastly, as a LED/LCD it puts only very little heat.... An LCD puts of substantially more and a Plasma can keep coffee warm with all the heat they put off.
The bad, or maybe just challenging. When the computer updates it shuts off without warning to complete the update. Network setup is challenging (I have a dual band wireless N router and finally just ran a ethernet cable because I couldn't get the wireless to accept the network password and authenticate with the router). If you want to change the VIA apps you'll need to read the manual to find out how to because the screen gives you no hint to press the yellow button to activate the feature.
All in all I really like the Vizio, I like the other Vizio we have. My prior HD (a plasma I really disliked because it put off so much heat)
