Bought this for my folks to bring them into the modern flat screen HD era. While it's not a Smart TV, adding a WiFi BluRay player (with Netflix, HuLu, etc) makes it close enough. The TV was a great price (at Walmart), throwing in a new value priced BluRay player was a no brainer. Has enough HDMI inputs and assorted other connections for most ordinary viewers. Sound is not earth shattering, but it's decent (better than I expected) and quite fine for the price point on this TV. Hook up and set up very easy. Very happy all around, a great way to bring someone that's been missing the LCD flat screen HD experience up to speed (all for about $700 including tax and a new DVD player)

I just bought this TV last night because my nine year old 32" Sony Trinitron tube television wouldn't come on anymore. I had been looking at flat screens for years but have never decided on buying one because all of my old tube televisions were still working. I still have a Panasonic VCR television from 1999 in my bedroom...Anyway, since my Sony went out I started doing research on flat screen TV's and could not decide which one to buy. I talk to some guys at work and Vizio was one of the suggested brands along with Samsung and Sony. I went into Walmart and was looking at the 46 inch Samsungs. One was a LED smart TV and the other a LCD. Then I looked at a Sony. My girlfriend looked to the left and saw the 50" Vizio for the same price as the Samsung LCD. After comparing all brands, I decided to go with the Vizio because the picture quality is comparable to Samsung and Sony. The price was right and I liked the auto-adjust for the room lighting. Not knowing about newer televisions, I was a little disappointed to see that there was only one component hook up. I had started to purchase the sound bar blue ray DVD combo set but didn't because I still have my old DVD player that still works. I was looking to hook up all the components but will wind up buying a hub for video games...I did buy the Philips sound bar and subwoofer because I've been used to surround sound from my old Sony. I have yet to hook up the sound bar because I have no other choice but an optical hook up. There is no extra coax for external hook ups and my sound bar doesn't have an HDMI hook up. Other than that, I love the size and picture quality of my new television.

You will keep smiling about this product! Vizio makes great products and has excellent customer service that is there to patiently help you get it up and running, if you happen to miss anything in Vizio's clear and helpful instructions. I missed that the HDMI connection at satellite box was loose. Vizio rep helped me figure that out quickly. I felt valued as a customer. I have other Vizio products that have me sold on the Vizio brand.

I bought this tv to replace a 32" cheap lcd. This TV has a great picture. I do have it connected to HD cable, so I am sure that helps the picture look good. I have a Vizio sound bar with wireless subwoofer connected to it. This combination has made watching tv GREAT!! I bought it today, so my review is based on just a few hours of watching.

Went looking for a new slim line TV, did my homework and asked around and people recommended the Vizio brand. I was not disappointed. Picked up a HDMI cable that did not come with the tv, connected it and made the picture even better. Sound is a little "tinny" but may pick up the sound bar but overall, a great purchase for the price. Would highly recommend.

This TV replaced a Sharp 37" tv that was an outstanding TV. The Sharp was to small when it was wall mounted, so we did our homework and went with the Vizio E500AR 50" TV. Smart move because it looks GREAT!! Also bought the Vizio Home Theater Sound Bar VHT215. WOW what a combination! You cannot go wrong with this pair!!
