I recently purchased this as a referb. for about 40% of the original retail price. The picture is incredible. The full array LED gives the TV a wonderful rich picture. Its not the sleekest TV out there, but who cares. Most people want performance not style. Great picture, Great performance, Great price, Great TV.

- Best TV I ever bought, even with slight drawbacks.. Review by Bo
-
Bought this TV in Sams Club about one year ago. Setup went great. The picture is phenomenal thanks to the LED backlighting. Vizio was on target with this technology, as many other manufacturers have now gone there. As far as picture and sound quality go, this tv is the best I've ever owned.
Of course, with good, there is always a little bad. There ARE a couple of issues with the set. First, there is no closed captioning. I don't know if there is SUPPOSED to be or not, but my daughter prefers watching TV with the words on the screen. We haven't really been able to do that since getting this TV (except when we're watching DVD).
Also, certain channels don't seem to play perfectly with this TV. There are like 5 or 6 channels that always displays what appears to be one scan line of static at the very very tippy top of the screen. You only notice it when you look right at it, and once you start watching the amazing picture, you forget that it's there, but it IS there. I'm assuming this is an anomaly though. I searched around to see if anyone else had any problems like this, but couldn't find where anyone had. We bought the extended 2 year warranty from Sams, so if it gets any worse over the next couple of years, we may take it in, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. It's literally ONE scan line at the very top of the picture. And again, only on a handful a channels do we see it.
3 or 4 years ago, if you would have asked me if I'd spend a thousand bucks on a TV made by a company called Vizio, I probably would have told you HELL NO! But the picture quality and sound really spoke for themselves. We only saw one set with brighter colors and more intense picture, but it was one of those super expensive Samsung LED sets with the glossy screen. I told my wife, while the picture may look really great here in the store, it probably won't when we get it home and put it next to the window. The matte finish on the Vizio means no glare!
All in all, it's the best electronics purchase I've made in a while, well, that is, until about two weeks ago when I strolled into Sams and saw the 8" Vizio Tablet computer for 200 dollars! I went ahead and bought one, even though I had already ordered a Kindle Fire from Amazon. The Vizio blows the Kindle out of the water! You HAVE to respect a company that starts with half a million bucks and within ten years has such a large share of an industry that, for years, was exclusive to a handful of albatross companies. America! What a country!(Posted on 11/27/11)

I bought this tv from Sam's Club after searching for 3 months for the best of the best. I compared television over & over to no avail & I got an amazing deal for it $1099.00. It has a great picture & amazing sound. The sound also gets better with the sound bar. This product deserves a 5 out of 5 stars but I must deduct half a star since picture & picture doesn't work with HDMI. Also I must mention that I purchased this product more than 18 months ago (today's date is 4-30-2011) but I still compare televisions just to see if I will find a better deal @ but I still cannot. At least for like televisions priced from $800-$1,500. Most television around that price range have 60mhz or 120mhz, but not this one. The 240mhz is what sets this tv apart any other tv with that many mhz are outrageously priced.
So get this television's serial number & find it you will not be disappointed!!!! No other brand can hold a candle to this spectacular television(Posted on 5/1/11)

Simply put, just awesome… I’ve had this TV going on 3 months now and I simply love it! I did a lot of comparisons with Samsung, Sony, JVC, etc… and this was the best picture that I found. With the 240 HZ, there’s no blur.
If you don’t already own it, get it! You’ll be glad you did…

Im BigT, I live in Wiscosin USA, I did allot of research on this TV I was happy to find out that the person who started Vizio, use to work for Sony TV, I learned that this gentleman was due for a promotion, well I dont need to go into details look it up. Anyways this LED TV has won top model for the last 3 years in a row consumer reports says it all. So I bought this LED TV 47", I love the picture, the true color is unbelievable, will not give off allot of heat, the only problem I had is the sound.....thats no big deal I bought a surround sound system so I have no worries, My DVD player is also Vizio I love everything about the product. If you don't thinks so, only one way to find out go to the store and purchas a Vizio product and I can guaranty you will be posting something yourself.
Thank you Vizio for a fine product(Posted on 11/3/10)

I shopped for the 47" (apps) for about 2mos. waiting to get the best deal. I did, $1075 w/shipping on e-bay. (patience) This is my 3rd flat screen and by far the very best is Vizio. It is rare to have a problem with this set but after continued nightmares from other "tech-support" sights, (i.e.Dish,Att,etc) I find it very refreshing to deal with Vizios' tech support. They are very helpful, explain things clearly, don't rush you, nor make you feel like its a dumb question you are asking. If they don't have the answer right away, I found they take your number, research the problem, then call you back with the solution to your problem. Besides all that, the quality of this set is far superior to any others I've seen at the stores.

Shopped for over a year., finally pulled the trigger. Nothing out there compares to this set , specs-vs-price point.. Ordered thru Sams Club ,had delivered to home , UPS.
Box was pretty much destroyed , thought for sure TV would be in pieces too. To my relief , no visible damage and installation and start-up went without flaw ! Whew !
Initial thought was ... and bullet proof too !
Instructions and TV inputs well laid out. Pretty much plug and play with any components arrangement. Sound is excellent but went ahead and ordered the Vizio Soundbar with Sub anyway..turned out those are very hard to find right now.
Highly recommend this set !(Posted on 5/26/10)

Our 5-year old DLP TV finally gave up the ghost, so we did a lot of shopping and researching for a replacement. We finally settled on the Vizio XVT472SV, even though it didn't quite match the apparent picture quality of other showroom sets. Quite simply, we are simply blown away by the picture, the ease of setup, and the overall quality of this TV! It is absolutely true what many say about the showroom images; once in our house and slightly calibrated, the picture quality is beyond compare. Picture quality is so sharp that sometimes I'm not sure if I'm seeing real people or computer-generated images! In my mind, you cannot find another HDTV with this level of quality at such a staggeringly low price!
Setup was a breeze. Attaching the DirecTV receiver and BluRay player were easy as well; from box to up and running in under 30 minutes. The remote is fantastic; the QWERTY keyboard is a nice addition. It would be nice if it were illuminated, though. Built-in Wi-Fi is fantastic; I connected to my wireless network in less than 1 minute.
The VIA Internet apps are a nice addition, although we really only use Netflix's streaming video. The addition of Pandora would be great.
The bottom line: If you are in the market for a new HDTV, the Vizio XVT472SV is a must-have!

This, after a two year search for the perfect television for our home, was my purchase. I am constantly amazed at the quality of this television on a daily basis. had a few problems initially setting it up. but, with a new DVR supplied by my cable co, we are rolling along beautifully.I truly recommend the purchase (if within your budget) of a blu-ray player. when I purchased mine I made sure I purchased one with internet capabilities. WOW. now i get free music with PANDORA, order movies fron NETFLIX, also has a range of other options as well. (netflix is an additional 8.99 a month).but well worth it if you watch a lot of movies, and you will, if you did"nt before this tv purchase. the cost of netflix is no more the cost of a few late fees on movies you rent at the movie rental stores. in short beautiful television for the price you can"t beat it. I looked at all the big screens out there this was by far the best one for the money. costco for $1200.00. it lets you do an array of calibrations to optimize the full range of high def capabilities. but the blu-ray player with a regular dvd is awesome, a blu-ray disc,FORGET ABOUT IT, it"s unbelievable. highly recommend this set.

Had my 47"(without the apps) for about a month now and I have to say I am really impressed with this unit. For the longest time I was set on purchasing a Panasonic Plasma for my next TV, but seeing this Vizio next to the Panasonic at my local Sam's Club. I switched! The picture is beautiful(amazing brightness with vivid colors), the set-up is tremendously easy, the sound is not bad either. My surround sound makes it that much more enjoyable. My PS3 games look absolutely spectacular, as well as, my Blu-Rays and DishHD. I love the PIP(Picture-in-Picture) feature and the remote capability. Out of all the televisions I have purchased over the years, I've finally got the one that will control my surround sound and its features. My wife was a little skeptical at first because of the low price(she was thinking cheaper quality), but once I got it home, set it up, and had the HD going, she was blown away to say the least. Now she wants to put the 47" in our bedroom and get the 55" for the living room. I'm down with that. I strongly recommend this TV just as I strongly recommend the Vizio brand. Thanks Vizio, and keep pushing forward.

I have been shopping for a year for a flat panel TV, everything from LCD to Plasma, 42inch to 65 inch, Samsung, Sony, etc (I have owned mostly Sony's in the past) and knew the moment I saw this one, that it was exactly what I wanted. Brought it home, had it up and running in a matter of minutes and was amazed at the picture quality and sound. Many of the scenes actually appear as almost 3D. I bought this one at Sam's Club and it was an amazing price as well. Time will tell, but so far this is the best value for the money anywhere in the market.

- Top of the line. Review by Bill

My wife and I purchased this TV at Costco yesterday and are very happy with the picture character, versatility, and craftsmanship it embodies. As a professional videographer shooting videos in HD, I want my work to be displayed with the highest possible picture quality so that every detail and color captured by my expensive professional HD camera will be reproduced faithfully. This TV fits the bill. My latest project involves shooting beautiful nature landscapes in Southern Utah and this 47 inch Vizio model's picture is so clean and clear, with vivid colors so true-to-life, that I have to honestly say watching my videos on it simulates the actual experience of really being there.
The sound quality of this model is also excellent at reproducing the wide spectrum of natural sound effects featured in my videos.
After searching for over a month to come up with The Best HD TV to showcase my work, I feel I have succeeded by choosing this Vizio Flat Panel HDTV over the others available. I am very pleased!(Posted on 3/8/10)

Me and my guy picked up my tv right in time for the super bowl ! I'm the proud owner of a 32" inch (my first vizio) and DEMANDED that my true big screen would be one too !!! put the 32" in mybedroom and it didn't take my guy more that 20 minutes to get the 47" out of the box and proudly sitting on my mantle in the living room! the best thing it doesn't over power the room and just adds to it...! had to have a VIZIO after seeing the commerical about it being LT TV!!

First a word of caution: Be aware that you can be confused (mislead?) by the product model numbers- - SV472XVT and XVT472SV -- are not the same unit.
My review is on the XVT472SV. What a great unit. From box to watching in less than 15 minutes. The color is fantastic without doing a lot of fine tuning. The most realistic sound I have ever gotten out of a TV so much so that I have delayed my purchase of a sound bar. Programming the remote was a snap.
While VIZIO is not exactly a household name brand today it will be in the near future. I recommned this unit 100% .(Posted on 2/12/10)
- Blown Away! Review by Paulm

I have been considering several flat panel tv's. I considered others that were bigger including Sony and Samsung models. They lacked the cutting edge technology you'll find with this set (at same price). I am amazed and very satisfied thus far! It's true that what you see on the showroom floor is much different than what happens once one gets their tv set up at home. It is relatively easy plug n' play setup. Tv is fairly light with easy to understand menu/command functions. The picture is amazing and the sound comes in really loud and clear. I don't doubt the quality of other manufacturers' televisions but you wont find technology like this at or near the same price!

A beautiful picture, blackest blacks and brightest of highlights. I have big glass patio doors, and the daylight doesn't effect the picture. Even Standard 480i looks real good. The sound is the best I've heard comming out of a LCD tv without external speakers.
Internet Apps is kewl, but I can't understand why Pandora and Facebook is missing? Even Samsung includes Pandora on their otherwise more limited choices. Netlix is there though, so there is always something worth watching.
Set up is quick and easy. Set is light enough to be moved by most people. Lots of inputs. Can't wait to put in a BluRay and a sound bar.(Posted on 2/6/10)

My Wife and I just got the TV last week and we are very impressed. It isn't bulky at all and was light enuff for me myself to carry. We also can't stop watching blu rays on it! The colors are very vibrant! The back part of it has a lot extra inputs too. We were able to use our ipods, hook up our CPU, and use our PS3 with more inputs to spare. The sound quality is great too but the only thing it was missing was bass. If your not a stickler on that, then it won't matter because either way your going to love everything about this unit. Honestly, we recommend it 100%!

I've had my new TrueLED 47" TV about two weeks now, and it's terrific! The picture and sound are awesome, and set up was so easy! The Qwerty remote is easy to use, and it controls the FIOS box quite well.
The internet apps are ok. What's missing are Facebook, and the ability to actually connect to the internet with a browser of some sort. I really hope that's coming soon!
If you have the opportunity to get this TV, do it! I was considering a 40" Samsung before I got this, and I thought the Vizio was a better value, especially with all the goodies you get for participating in the survey.

I've only had it one night, but so far I'm impressed with what I've seen. The setup was remarkably easy. Though the manual said a setup app would start as soon as I turned on the TV, it didn't. However, configuration was pretty straightforward. I paired the bluetooth remote in 15 seconds, I was able to get the wireless internet started within 1 minute. The longest part was inputting the very long password I have for my network, but it was made immensely easier since the qwerty keyboard is on the Vizio remote. This same task took 3or 4x longer on my Wii and I had to repeat it twice since point and select is so much slower. The picture is very bright, the contrast is excellent and the sound (especially the mid and tweet) is respectable for TV speakers. I haven't run bass heavy battlescenes, but I'm sure any shortcomings can be overcome with external speakers or soundbars.
The apps load fairly quickly. The Yahoo news app needs more fleshing out since I can't see much more than the headline, so it's mostly a tease. The weather and stock app are ok and similar to iPhone apps of the same kind, I hope they can add Pandora at some point. What would be nice is a good sports app that you could do player stat or story searches while a game is on. Netflix app is what I really wanted and it works pretty well. Search would be nice, but you can workaround it by setting your instant queue on a computer beforehand. I was able to watch HD movies over wireless internet without having to buy a Roku, PS3 or Blu-Ray player with this capability.
The other impressive thing was programming the Vizio universal remote. I was controlling my cablebox and DVD very quickly with no 4-5 digit code entries. It would be nice if the remote was illuminated though.(Posted on 1/28/10)

If your looking for a new t.v., this is a must have. It looks great, has the best features, with an unbeatable price. I got my directly from the factory, since I don't think it's out yet to resellers. Awesome customer service, I think out of the Dakota's somewhere. Anyway, have had the television for about 2 weeks and love it. The apps aren't as fast as they would be on a computer ( loading Rhapsody for example), but this is not a complaint by any means. Can't wait for more apps to become available. I think if you get this t.v. you will not be disappointed.
