Fantastic TV Review by ladidi333

We have purchased many Vizio TV's since they started manufacturing them and have never been unhappy. We have bought for gifts and will most likely never buy from any other manufacturer. We have been so happy with the quality and the ease of operation and the sharpness of the picture. Would recommend Vizio to everyone.

usb Review by movieman46

I'm so happy I bought this TV. However I wished I can watch movies I have on USB flash disk/HDD. Apparenty it can play photos and play music but not any kind of movies. No mpeg/AVI/DIVx can be played on the USB. Looking at the user's guide it just shows that 3 USB ports are just for maintenance. I wonder why a TV needs 3 USB ports for maintenance. I'm sure they designed this TV to support other type of media files but they just haven't developped the software. If anybody knows how to play movies on USB disks please reply and let me know.

Minor annoyances Review by fjord83

I want to start out by saying this was an AWESOME buy, especially since I got it on sale at Target for $1200. However, my first complaint is that I can't use the Facebook app. My log in email is apparently 3 characters too long. My biggest complaint though is that after about a month of usage, my TV will turn itself off after a matter of seconds (varies each time), at which point I have to unplug my TV and hold in the power button on the side of the screen for 30 seconds. After it's plugged back in I have to wait about another minute for the VIZIO display to stop flashing. Once I'm up and running, all the information on my apps have been erased so I have to input all that information back in again.

Again, though, this TV was DEFINATELY worth the money and a great buy. Just wish these minor glitches would get fixed with a firmware update or something.

Good / Bad Review by J.J.

Nice TV with some neat new options. Looks great on my ceiling mount in the corner of my recroom. One BIG drawback is the TV's inability to allow picture in picture (PIP) if you plan on using a HDMI cable to deliver the picture. For this reason alone I would not buy this TV. It really makes me mad that my 55" can't handle PIP. Such a waste.

Replaced our 2 Stolen Vizio's with 2 Better and cheaper ones! Review by Angel

I'm in the Army and we move frequently, we have been at our present duty station only 4 months and our rental home was broken into. The only things stolen were our 2 Laptops and our 55" and 26" Vizio LCD TV's. Our insurance company quickly settled our claim and we went shopping for new TV's. Needless to say we bought another 55" and 26" TV, not only were they cheaper than the ones that got stolen they were better and were LED TV's to boot. The M550NV is loaded with tons of features and has an amazing picture and outstanding sound quality. We couldn't be any happier with our purchase given the circumstances.

Great viewing product Review by lmichael

After the self guided help screen, setup of my new Vizio TV was as easy as baking a cake. The picture on this TV is outstanding. I can't believe that today's technology can project such a vivid picture from such a thin and stylish piece of furnishing. The sound coming from this product is also amazing, turning the volume up can blast you out of your chair with no distortion., A great buy for the addition to my home entertainment.

Worth the wait Review by federalist 10

had to wait weeks for WalMart to fulfill the online order and ship direct, but it arrived undamaged. Great shipping box.. Setup and operation easy. Worked great on cable..and switched to Dish...picture not as sharp with Dish. However, WiFi for NetFlix is great...no glitches, hiccups, etc. Performs AS advertised. Worth the wait for WiFi model...and pleased we didn't buy a cheaper model without WiFi.

We would buy it again. No regrets so far....after 2 months of operation. NOT one issue or complaint. Great product!!

AWESOME!!!, No WiFi problems even with the router 25 feet away! Review by Cori

This T.V. is AWESOME! Got it mounted on the wall last night, razor thin with a low profile mount puts it about an two inches off the wall. I was a little hesitant to buy based on other reviews about the WIFI connection. My router is on another floor and at least 25 feet away, the signal/internet connection is very strong. The other reviewers must have some sort of problem with thier router, mine works great! The remote is super cool with the QWERTY keyboard slideout. Easiest setup and was able to control all my devices with this remote (even Dishnetwork box). I also purchased an Insignia 55" LED for the same price ($1,299) about a month ago for my man-cave. If you are comparing the two the VIZIO is far superior to the Insignia; I have considered returning the Insignia and getting another VIZIO. I haven't signed up for Netflix yet but I can't wait to see how movies look on this T.V.

Excellent Buy Review by Randy

Purchased this TV at Sam's club for $1300 and it was the best TV purchase we have made so far. Everything we own is a Panasonic, but after our 55" Panasonic LCD went out for the 2nd time, not to mention how the lamp only lasts a few hundred hours, not the advertised 10,000, we decided to look around for another brand. Did a lot of research on this company and am extremely happy that it is an American company, and these TV's are assembled in America. Can't say enough about the picture quality, and the wireless setup went like a charm. It immediately picked up my wireless router which sets about 20 feet away from the TV. Setup for our home theater system, gaming system and Direct TV was the easiest I have seen. As mentioned by others, the sound quality could be a little better, but since we have a home theater system, we don't really notice it. Have I mentioned it is an outstanding picture??? We are using HDMI cables so I'm not sure what the quality would be if you are using analog cables. Good job Vizio.

awesome picture but a couple of cons Review by azteck

i just bought my vizio m550nv 2 days ago the set up was apparently easy it was done for me the picture will blow you away by far the best picture i have ever seen on hd tv i have a sony and i thought that was a great picture for the money this tv cant be beat however there is a couple of cons the set has internet capabilities i thought i would be all set as i have a wireless router and they told me thats all i needed however my router is about 45" away which is too far for me to connect to the internet 30" max for a good connection the other little glitch is there is a speaker on the rear of the set so if you m ount it on the wall it vertually makes that rear speaker useless don't bother looking at other sets you will be wasting your time buy it and beleive me you won"t be dissappointed the looks razor thin fantastic picture and great price make this tv a great buy

awesome picture but some glitches Review by azteck

just connected my vizio m550nv today it's all the reviewers say it was and more awesome picture never saw a tv like this one tv is sharp looking razor thin and easy to set up there were a couple of things that were a negative and that i was never told the picture in picture is there but not there you have to connect it to a splitter going from the receiver to another piece of equipment such as a dvd and then connect to the tv i think i'm not a technicle person so i guess i'll pass on the pip the next thing was i thought you just had to have a wireless router to connect to the internet wrong again my router was at least 65 " away which made it not being able to connect no net flix for the time being but i can solve that problem by bringing an erthenet cable from my router to the tv one other thing it doesn't effect me but if your going to put this tv on a wall mount their is a speaker in back that will make it vertually useless i have it on a pedestal for the money picture and looks do yourself a favor and buy it you'll never regret it iknow i only had it one day but the tech service is fabulous i took out the extended warranty only because i learned my lesson enjoy it

Sony who? Review by Chopkill

When I first wanted to buy a new T.V., Sony was my first choice. Everything I own is Sony, (PS3, a Blu-Ray player, and a Bravia home theater system) but my friend told me I needed to come check out his Vizio. After seeing the picture, I was truly blown away. Then he told me how much he paid, I couldn't believe it, I was sold. The setup was a breeze, and the remote paired with my other devices with no problems. The sound from the T.V. is a little "tinny" but that's why I have a home theater system anyways. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, you have a customer for life.

Greatest Buy Possible Review by Duke

I just finished going through my process of setting up . It is the slickest manner I have ever been involved with.

The more I learn about VIZIO the happier it makes me, everything is so easy from setting up to adapting to my other viewing compontents.

Plus the support personal are very helpfull in answer my questons.

My plans now are to buy several other supporting products they make.
Plus a smaller VIZIO

YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH A VIZIO TELEVISION

Amazing Picture Quality Review by apat

This is the first HDTV I've we've ever owned. We purchased it the day before Superbowl 2011. We didn't buy it just to see the game in HD; the timing just happened to work out that way. We did our homework beforehand and found this to be the best value by far. My wife and I are avid sports fans. We like to watch PGA Golf, MLB baseball and especially NHL Hockey. The golf courses on televised PGA tour events is breathtaking. The aerial of Peeble Beach in California jutting along the Pacific ocean was stunning. When watching an NHL Hockey game you feel like your right there in the middle of the action. I would highly recommend this TV. If your in the market for a HDTV of this size, do yourself a favor and check this one out.

Big fan of Vizio products! Review by David

Simply put this is the best value in the current market for HD flatscreens. I have had several High-definition flatscreens and this one is my favorite. I had a plasma that lasted 3 years before dying and costing more to fix than I could by another one for. I also had a very problematic 55" made by a Korean company that starts with an "S". (I don't want to point fingers but...) Their customer service was the worst on 2 separate products that I owned and had problems with. When I was in the market for a new tv this Christmas the first requirement was that it wasn't from that particular manufacturer. Almost everywhere I went they tried to push those on me first. I wanted 55" or larger and LED and true HD and WIFI and at least 3 HDMI inputs. I compared the picture quality of everyone I could find that met those requirements. I don't care about specs like refresh rate and pixel density or whatever hogwash they throw at you. I want to know which one LOOKS the best to me. The M550NV LOOKED the best to me by far and as good or better that ones costing far more like the Sony. Which had a great picture but cost a great deal more. There was a football game (read action video) playing on all of them and the Vizio looked as good with 120mhz as the Sony did with 240mhz. I have also purchased a smaller Vizio for my bedroom and the Vizio wireless HD router. Both great products. I highly recommend the router to go with this tv. I use the Netflix app to watch movies streaming and I have a HTPC (home theater pc) connected via HDMI and watch movies from that as well as surf the net and it works fantastic.

By far the best TV I have ever owned!!! Review by Ibardo

To have a 55 inch Razor LED TV for $1300 is a absolute steal!!!!! Whether you are watching movies(standard or blu-ray) or playing PS3, the picture quality is above and beyond other TV's that cost 50% more!!
Please do yourself a favor and save the money and buy this TV over the other companies that charge a lot more.
You won't be sorry!!

Keep up the great work Vizio!!!!!!!

Have'nt seen one better! Review by Rob

Just bought the 55 in Razor and it is awesome. This is my second Vizio and knew this is what I wanted. My son has a 47 inch and was telling me about how good these tv's are. He said he did all the research and that Vizio was the good one. I thought about the research I did on my first Vizio. I was standing in a Sam's club and I looked at all the tv's and the Vizio had the best picture and the best value. Research done. Kid's!

A Must Buy !!! Amazing Review by Joe

This is my second Vizio TV... My first was a 32in LCD years ago. I was worried when I first bought it as I didn't really hear of the company before, but I wanted something that was not going to break me. I was so happy with it; I bought this 55" LED for my upgrade. The picture is great, and it will not break you. I'm big on movies and games, and wow... I now have high expectations of Vizio as a company and they deliver. I would recommend this TV and This Company to anyone. It just shows you, if you build a quality product you will build a great reputation for doing it. I am a Vizio customer for life...

Good for a few weeks Review by Jrod

This tv looks amazing, as the others have said. The video smoothing makes it look like your looking through a window. Best picture I have ever seen. Blows my dads plasma out of the water. (altho he has never had any tech problems as I am having below).

I had the tv for about 3 weeks and now some horizontal black lines appear when somethign fast happens on the screen. If I turn off video smoothing the problem goes away. I will be contacting tech support about the problem tonight and see if the support is as good as the pictue.

I am sure this is a rare problem and will be resloved.

Great TV, but... Review by stealth94rt

I love just about everything about this TV. Picture, sound, setup and price were all fine. I am using this TV in conjunction with the new Vizio XWR100, which seems to be well-designed and a breeze to set up. The only thing I'm not happy about is that, although the TV is WiFi enabled, it cannot receive the highest-speed 5Ghz wireless-n signal (or at least that is what I've been told by Vizio tech support). They told me that I would have to move up to the next model.

As a result, I find that Netflix is a bit "touchy" - sometimes it connects fine, other times you have to restart it before you can browse any movies. Once the movie starts streaming, it seems to be fine. Also, before you tell me it's my network, I have other WiFi devices in the house (several PCs and a Wii) that browse and stream Netflix without any problems.

I think it would be nice if Vizio would state this somewhere in the product advertising, so the consumer would know in advance and could make a more informed purchasing decision.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Review by Gary

This is our third Vizio and it replaced our 50" Sony. I love this TV! We have had it for about two months now and the wireless WiFi is great. Streams Netflix in very high quality and the Directv Hd picture quality is amazing. Friends can't take their eyes off it. Way better than the $2500 Sony it replaced. I highly reccommend it.

Incredible TV! Best Value! Review by Bullitt

I'm not sure you can even call it a TV, its more like you are looking out a window. Amazing picture quality, that is so real its hard to get used to at first and can almost make sick during high action flicks, however you adapt quickly and wonder how you ever watch TV before.

It was easy to set up. You are guided through each step and are immediately watching TV or surfing the apps. The apps are a little slow and the navigation a little clumsy, but let's face it, you are surfing Facebook, Yahoo videos etc. from your TV wirelessly. The sound quality of the TV itself is poor, but easily fixed with a home theater system. The TV is razor thin. I wall mounted my TV with the Vizio motorized tilting mount. It’s impressive to watch the TV lower itself automatically when it receives the power signal via the optical port. However the TV's HDMI inputs are not ARC (audio return capable) even though they are the latest 1.4, so now you have to use the optic cable to return TV sound to your receiver, which is taken up by the mount. I installed an optical splitter and now have both tilt and audio back to my surround sound speakers.

Other than the sound quality and not being ARC capable it’s impossible to complain for the price. This is definitely the best deal out there.

Amazing Review by Bri-Definition

My not-so-tech-savvy neigbors' 10-year-old 50-inch rear-projection gave out so they asked me what to replace it with that would look good and not break the bank. I did some research and found that the M550NV got really good reviews, so I recommended it to them. They bought it and since I owed them a favor, I did a full mounted installation.

The wall-mount installation is easy, but there were a few small hiccups. (1) The manual isn't very clear on how to remove the TV stand. There's a small screw in the back of the stand that just holds on the cover. After you remove it, there are 4 more screws to remove. Once they're off, lift the TV up and pull straight down on the stand to remove it (It's a 3-person job if you want to be really safe). (2) The mounting holes on one side of the TV line up directly with the power plug. If your mount has long vertical brackets, make sure that you position the brackets so that they don't interfere with the plug and also measure the wall-mount height with the brackets mounted in the correct position. (3) The component and composite connectors stick straight out the back instead of straight down like the HDMI connectors. They can interfere with some wall mount brackets. I was able to mount the TV 1-inch off-center to prevent the wall mount from interfering with the component video connectors. Of course, this will vary with different wall mounts and may not be necessary at all.

TV setup was also really easy. I had it on their network and logged-in to facebook in under 10 minutes after first powering on the TV. Widgets responded much faster than the Samsung and Sony TVs I played with a few months ago. Going through the inputs and naming them was also intuitive. The remote with the hidden keboard works well and it also controls other components like a digital cable box (worked great on a Scientific Atlanta box). I'd recommend being careful with the remote if you don't have carpet as it doesn't feel like it will withstand many drops on a hard surface.

The best part was watching the HD channels on digital cable. My neighbors couldn't believe what they had been missing. I was amazed by the picture quality. It's so much better than I expected for the price of this TV that I decided to write this review. Note that I'm not new to HD. I've been developing software for high-definition A/V chips for the consumer electronics industry for 7 years and I occasionally do semi-custom home-theater installations.

The TV's design is very nice. I wish the bezel were thinner, but it looks like Vizio used the extra width on the sides along with the extra overall thickness to pack in better sound quality. The sound it quite good compared to other thin edge-lit TV. A good tradeoff.

Another obvious advantage of this TV is its low energy usage, and maybe more important, how little heat it puts out. Some TVs will noticibly heat up your room, but this isn't one of them.

Other thoughts:

This TV would be nearly ideal for using with an HDMI upconverting A/V receiver where the only connections to the TV are the power plug and one or two HDMI cables. On the other hand if you don't have an A/V receiver, the lack of multiple analog inputs (component and composite) might be a problem. Consider that you might have to upgrade some of your components if you have more than two that don't have HDMI outputs.

Finally, it's becoming trendy to mount thin HDTVs flat on the wall like a picture frame. Given the design of the power plug and the analog inputs, it won't be practical to mount it closer than about 1 inch from the wall even if you buy cables with right-angle connectors.

Amazing! Review by Ronnie

The t.v. is the best I have owned yet. The picture is so clear and the screen is so thin I have had people tell me it looks like a Picture frame not a tv, and I have had people tell me it looks as if the image is being projected on the wall. It dims and lightens depending on the room which is great, and I love the quality. For the size more than 120hz would be great but im okay with what I got for the price! Overall, great tv, and great quality. I love it.

Downfall: Fingerprint magnet. I need to hold it by the sides to get it up on the wall and well its full of fingerprints and its like the older ps3 surface where when you clean it, it scratches it a lot. I am afraid to clean it because it will scratch i up

By Far, The Best TV Ever!!! Review by DV

The setup was very simple, it found all of my channels within about 7 minutes. The wireless setup was done in 10 seconds. In about 10 minutes, I was watching the most amazing picture on a TV I have ever seen! The picture is so amazing, it almost looks fake. And, by fake, I mean that in a good way. It's like I'm actually looking out my window on a clear beautiful day, and seeing all the detail in person! Sports are my thing, and I love this TV on any sport. It's very smooth in transition of frames. The 120hz is awesome! No pixelation, just smoothness throughout. Blu Ray is sick!!!!! Unbelievable!!! If you have to pay full price for this (which I see it at Walmart right now for $1298 everyday price) you will still be paying half of what a Sony or Samsung costs for the same size LED TV! I've seen the Samsung, Sony and Vizio 55" LED 120hz TV's all next to each other. The Vizio blows them away! The Samsung had a great picture, very smooth on sports, and very nice vibrant rich colors. But, it was $2100!!!! Get real!!! The Sony didn't have a great picture. Blurry, pixelation on sports. That was an immediate disqualification for me! And, it was $1800!!! The Vizio is the winner! Trust me, I'm a huge electronics "geek" and I know my stuff. If this was a crap TV, I would say so. Listen to me...YOU WILL LOVE THIS TV. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED ONE BIT!!!!

Here is my list of Pros & Cons for the TV. I'm not biased, I'm for real.

PROS:
Ultra Thin.
Lightweight.
Extremely Awesome Picture. Very smooth. Dark blacks, bright whites. Blu-Ray is unbelievable!!!
Nice black glossy finish to match my audio equipment.
3 HDMI ports in the back, and 1 on the side.
2 USB ports!!
The remote is incredible. It's like a slider phone with a full keyboard for typing. And, it's bluetooth, not infrared!!!
VIA (Vizio Internet Apps). You can get on Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, Weather, etc!
The fact that all of my family members have drooled over this TV, and they can't do anything about it but go get their own.

CONS:
The sound is average. The speakers are on the side of the TV, and go from the top to bottom. Not a true surround in my opinion, but still average. There is also a speaker on the back of the TV, which if you have it wall mounted like I do, it's a waste. Just go buy a Vizio Sound Bar, like I did and you will love it.
Not really a con, just wish it was 240hz, but for the price, I can't complain.
Before I wall mounted it, the stand it came attached to right out of the box was a little flemsy when it was on my table during setup. If you have children, or someone bumps it, it could fall over. It does come with a steel braided strap to secure to the wall in case of an earthquake or someone bumping it, but if you can, I would wall mount it. Costco has a remote activated wall mount, which is also made by Vizio for $99. It tilts up and down for your viewing angle at the touch of a button!!! Love it!!!

Other than that, nothing really bad to say at all about this TV. I've had it for almost a month!

Bottom line is, if I had $1298 to spend on a TV, no doubt in my mind, I would get this TV. If I didn't already have a Samsung 50" Plasma in my master bedroom, I would be going to buy this TV for there. If I ever need another TV, or someoen asks me to recommend a TV to them, it will be a Vizio. Whether or not, it's an LED or LCD or Plasma is up to how much they want to spend. I just purchased 2 Vizio 26" LCD TV's for my kids' rooms. I have pretty much been sold on Vizio's. And, you can always find them at Walmart, which is right around the corner from my house, so I'm not having to travel across town or out of town to get a great deal, and have it boucing around in my truck. YOU WILL LOVE THIS TV!!!!!!!!

M550NV It's the best Review by Dawg

This is my 3rd big screen and it is better than any of the past TV's. I am so proud to have this TV. It is about as close to being there in person than I could have imagined. This is TV at its best.

remote issue Review by Russ

Just got this two days ago to watch the World Series. Love the picture and everything, but I keep getting a message stating that the battries are low... two sets of batteries in two days? Is this an issue, do I have a defective remote?

Amazing in every way Review by RccrazyBill

This is my 3rd big screen TV and by far the absolute best. I also have a Sony ($2300) and the Vizio has a far superior picture. If your thinking of getting one go buy it!

Can't Imagine a Better TV for the Price! Review by Bobby

The 120hz (adjustable with Real Cinema and Smooth Motion Effect) will blow you away! Watching Blu-Ray Discs on this TV will change the way you view movies. The 120hz effect can take some time to adjust to, but once you do (and you can always turn it off you are crazy) you will wonder how watched HDTV without it.

The internet connection works flawlessly, whether you are running wireless or ethernet, and there are tons of preinstalled and ready-to-download apps to include; facebook, twitter, my yahoo, etc.

The audio could pack more of a punch, but if you buy the Vizio soundbar, then you are set with a premium HDTV and Sound System for a lot cheaper than inferior products from bigger named companies.

Love the features Review by neospectrum

My wife surprised me with a Toshiba 52" LCD HDTV back in January. Since then I have had to have Geek Squad out 4 times, twice to replace parts. Now it is at a service center for, in my opinion, one last try to fix it.

We were planning a dinner and wanted to have our TV in place, so researched quickly and found this Vizio. Right away I was impressed with the features but figured the picture would suffer as it isn't as expensive as competition with similar features. I set up the tv last night and I can tell you this I am hoping the Toshiba cant be fixed.

I love the features on this TV, Netflix is fully functional, unlike some internet capable appliance which only allow you to see whats in your instant que.

Regarding the picture, I can only speak to about 3 hrs of viewing time, but the picture via Netfix was amazing. I plan on making my wife watch a BR movie on it to convince her we need to keep this awesome buy.

I will caveat my review with this. I am not as picky about picture as some, I can tell you the picture is as good as the Toshiba, but the blacks could be blacker. However, I have not adjusted the picture at all and have just now read the manual and plan on playing with the settings.

Hope someone finds this beneficial.

pull the trigger !! Review by the assman

do not hesitate, pull the trigger and get this bad boy !! insane picture quality !! my biggest fear, was the set-up, and how to navigate the hd menu and internet widgets. this is as simple as it gets !! it took longer to unpack, than it did to actually power up and connect. compared to what is on the market, this is a great buy. other brands of the same size, do not have the internet capability and are priced the same. my only regret.....is that i waited so long.
this is one hell of a buy !!

Outstanding Buy!!! Review by Nelly

We opened the TV and start setup. I connected both my blu ray player and bose sound system with ease, the TV will program the remote automatically and guide you through the steps. I set up the internet through wireless Wi-FI and I was browsing Yahoo in less than a minute. The picture is super awesome - clear HD all the way! My regular TV channels look great, too. This is a great move for me! Vizio M550NV is highly recommended for anyone who is looking to upgrade into a LED TV without hurting your budget. Best price and super performance!

Awesome Product Review by RawDogg

Pros: Vizio internet apps, size, thin, inputs, features, beautiful, Wifi, slide universal remote, weight.

Cons: non working USB ports, Poor Speakers.

"I purchased Vizio 55" Edge Lit LED LCD HDTV Model#: M550NV. I never knew a Television could show such a great picture. The picture is rich with colors, deep blacks and sharp as a tack. I also love how thin it is. Extremely easy to setup and it is very customizable. Menu is pretty simple once you get used to it. Not a big learning curve there. The remote is very cool with a sliding keyboard for typing on screen.

I love that fact that I don't need to buy a HD Package from my local cable company, nor do I have to buy an antenna to receive HD programming. I use my basic cable line and it picked up over 150 channels with half of them in HD.

I also bought a Vizio Blu-Ray Player model VBR231 and a Vizio Sound Bar Model VSB210WS. I bought the sound bar because the TV speakers have no bass at all. I'm set like a Fat Cat for the NFL Season.

I'm thinking about purchasing the 42" model for my bedroom.
Two problems...the 3 USB ports on the back are non functional & the speakers are weak. They need some Bass. The 3 USB ports are for future use as stated by the Vizio Tech Support rep. they stated the TV will be updated via the web to make them work in the near future (I hope)

All in all I could be happier with my purchase (I just with wished the USB ports worked & the speakers had just a little bass)"

Fantastic TV Review by Invictus

We purchased this last Saturday at a local members only warehouse club. We had planned to purchase a different model, the Vizio VF552XVT 55" TruLED™ LCD HDTV, and I checked online to see if the club still had it. They showed it available online and locally, so we packed up and went. My wife and I were blown away by the picture quality when we first saw it back in June or so. We went to the store, and there were none of what we were looking for, so we deliberated and went with the Razor instead.

All I have to say is "Wow!" It doesn't matter what we throw at it (figuratively speaking), it displays it flawlessly. I can't believe the difference between it and my 32" Vizio we upgraded from, and I thought the 32" was good! The difference between 720p and 1080i is amazing. I don't even have a Blu-Ray player hooked up yet. I'm just watching my cable company's HD programming, and watching movies on a higher end Sony DVD player with full HD upscaling.

In comparing what I remember of the other TV we wanted to get versus the Razor, I want to say that the picture quality is better on the Razor, but we could not do a side by side comparison, so I have to rely on my memory. I have never seen movies so clear, and the TrueSurround actually sounds like surround.

The internet apps seem to work ok, but on the third day we had some issues. There was a software/memory glitch directly associated with the internet apps which froze all functions of the TV, and it could only be unfrozen by unplugging it. The TV became completely unresponsive when the VIA button on the remote was pressed. The problem was solved by doing a full reset to factory defaults. Had to set the TV back up, but nothing to really complain about. We don't really use the apps anyway. This minor quirk does not bother me in the least, so it doesn't affect my opinion of the TV. If it keeps happening, then it will be time to talk to Vizio.

I would definitely recommend this TV to any out there who are looking for one. You will not be disappointed.

As an added bonus, this TV was about $250 cheaper than the one we had planned to buy. We are doubly pleased with this purchase.

Great Buy! Review by RealMc

I would argue, if I was the marketing director for Vizio, that I want a Sony on each side of every one of my TV's. I was able to look at the 55" Razor, side by side with a Sony.

No contest. Hands down a superior picture and sound. The difference was staggering. If I was the Sony rep, I'd make sure my resume was in order.

Vizio M550NV Review by Bulldog

I have a room that has a lot of windows, after careful consideration of the glare off the screen the two top brands left standing was a Sony and a Vizio LED M550NV. Every store I went to the Sony was not as clear as the Vizio. At first I thought it was a simple setup problem and that Sony TV's needed to be adjusted. I found simply put the LED Vizio is a much better picture then the LCD Sony. After getting my M550NV home I found the colors to be extremely accurate right out of the box. The blacks seem blacker and the whites seem brighter then any set if have seen, I believe this has to do with the extremely high contrast ratio that Vizio incorporates into this model. I am really pleased that I did not get the Sony LCD TV for lack of picture quality being the main reason. I think that the Samsung and LG picture quality is good as well, but the glare and reflections off the screen would drive me a little crazy. I don't like to watch myself watch TV. So in the end I am very happy with my purchase.
