Excellent TV Review by Chico

Bought this yesterday at Sam's and had it mounted and running before the kids got home from school and it has been a great hit. Picture quality, sound, ease of use. My only problem is the time it takes to start up and no external keyboard or mouse capabilities. But those aren't deal breakers. For the price, it is absolutely the best deal money can buy.

Beautiful TV - With some Network Setup Issues Review by GMP

We purchased the Vizio E422VA from Costco. It has a beautiful picture and very good audio. The one issue we had was setting up the WiFi against our NetGear WPN824N Router. Based on the resolution to the problem, the TV would not pick up an IP Address using DHCP. The tech at Vizio, who was very helpful, suggested putting in Static IP information, at which point the TV was able to connect to our WiFi using WPA2, and a password of 9 characters (mixed case letters and a number). (We have a number of other devices connected that had no such problem).

Now that is up and configured, I have to say it is a very good TV for the money, considering the picture, sound, and built in connectivity to NetFlix, etc....

For those with DirecTV, the code is 10178.

Great Tv Review by Tummy

This Tv is really good for the price I paid for it, compare to the other brands their prices are mad high and you get little for your money.

More than satisfied Review by Spark1033

Bought this tv planning on it being my scondary "lower-end" unit that's just used in my bedroom. Well, that was a waste of time setting it up there. It made my living room tv look like a yard sale reject. So, wen back to Costco the next day an bought another for the living room. I didn't even know about the internal Internet apps until I started to play around with it. I absolutely love the apps. I can listen to Pandora without having to plug in my iPhone or turn on a computer. I also love the Vudu app for brand new releases. The Netflix streaming is where the real selling point is for me though. I sure didn't expect all the features this unit has for just $550 (with a 5 yr warranty). I find it the first time I'm not taking up all the inputs. I have my HD DirecTv tuner, Blu-Ray, HD camera, and a 1Tb hard drive all hooked up, with room to spare.
Oh, for the basics, the picture can't be beaten until you spend about $1300, the sound is better than average ( yet I still highly recommend an external system for sound ), and the remote is fine. It does the job. Need Qwerty? Get a laptop!

Great T.V. at a Great Price! Review by KAB

After much research and comparison shopping, we decided on this Vizio E422VA. Got it on sale at BJ's for a great price (under $500). It was very easy to set up (and we are not tech savvy!). We are first time flat-screen and HDTV owners and the picture on this t.v. is beautiful. Looks amazing in our family room. Even the sound quality is good (speakers are on the front which makes a difference, I think). Lots of great features and functionality. Can't say much about the internet apps - that was just an added bonus - really just bought it to watch t.v. Suits our purposes fine - good quality.

What a great deal Review by AK

This is our second vizio- we have a 55" upstairs in the game room. Decided needed new tv for bedroom and have been looking off and on for months. Just picked this up today for 398.00 at Sam's Club. Came home and hooked it up (had to go buy an HDMI cable-could not get HD to work with coaxial from attuverse receiver-no big deal) once i had the right cable bam- everything on perfectly- wifi works well for what it is...if I want a key board I will just hook my laptop. The picture and sound are great. I kept going back and forth between this and a Sony Google (600 bucks- a good deal too) but I just could not justify another 200 -did not make any sense to me. And I am glad I went with this. Never had a problem with our other one and it is almost 2 years old. If you catch one of these on sale- grab it.

Vizio E42 Review by Edgar

I bought this TV 3 weeks ago in COMPUSA

The tv works fine, the video and sounds are pretty cool

The only thing that I dont like is the time when I'm changing channels

it takes like 2.5 seconds to make the change, (the screen turns black, then the image)

Can you guys tell me if you are having the same issue?

TV Goes Off Review by Bunbuns

Love the size of the TV, and the sound is great on it, but it will go off several times a day while watching it. It does eventually come back on by itself, but it becomes aggravating after doing it so many times a day.....Sometimes, it will mess up, where there is no sound, and it will do nothing, so it has to be unplugged, and reset, in order for it to come back on, and work properly...Is anyone else having this issue??

amazing value - who cares about the remote? Review by jgartger2000

i can't believe the complaints about the remote? this tv is fantastic! sure, if you bought the tv to post to facebook or twitter, you might need an alternative plan, but if you bought the tv to watch TV, movies or streaming via Netflix..my goodness this set can not be beat for the price. Crisp resolution on the picture with plenty of adjustable options. I am particularly fond of the movie/cinema video preset. The built in audio is also strong.

one thing i like about this set is, i hung it on the wall in my bedroom, and the only cable connected is the power cord and cable. the built in Netflix and WiFi take care of the rest.

only thing that would make this set better would be if it were bigger, and that isn't the manufacturers fault, it is mine. in 2012, I am going to go large.

TV IS GREAT BUT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE DONT LIKE THE REMOTE Review by NACHO

GOT THE TV RUNNING IN NO TIME. GOT ALL THE APPS RUNNING NO PROBLEM. MY ONLY ISSUE IS THE REMOTE! DINT CARE FOR IT TO MUCH! BECAUSE NO QWERTY KEYBOARD. SO WENT OUT AND BOUGHT ONE ONLINE COME TO FIND OUT IT DONT SUPORT THE NEW VIZIO REMOTE WITH THE KEYBOARD SO THATS A BIG BUMMER OTHER THAN THAT ITS VERY GOOD TV SET

Great value for the price Review by Joe

I picked this up at Costco, mounted it on a wall, and had it working in no time. I connected up to Comcast RNG110 cable box (via HDMI), and once I got things plugged in in the right order, everything worked seamlessly.

I later upgraded my wireless router (to a NetGear WNDR3700v2), and discovered a bug with the WPA password (passphrase needed to be shortened to 8 characters).

My two cons:

I hope a future firmware upgrade brings DLNA or some other mechanism to access my local networked library of music, photos and videos.

Hopefully the Netflix app will be updated to support closed captioning shortly.

I'm looking forward to the VIA Plus (google tv) models.

Vizio Review by Tech 1

Tv is perfect nice and clear, but the remote is awful I thought it would come with that keyboard remote. The remote that comes with this tv doesn't work well at all and doesn't fit the quality of this set.

Audio Popping Review by i003046

I already purchased a Vizio from Costco about 7 years ago and it's still running. Picked this model up yesterday and installed. Everything connected fine, colors and sound are great. I only notice one thing that was somewhat odd. When using my Series 3 Tivo and I fast forward or skip to the next 30 seconds in the program, I hear popping noise each time I advance the forward. Anyone have this problem with Tivo?

Love the TV, Hate the Remote! Review by solo

I picked this tv up a few weeks ago at Costco for $499. Great price, great tv but why sell a tv with internet capabilities and then skimp out on the remote? Especially when the VUR10 qwerty keyboard remote is out already and available for other models.

(Posted on 2/14/11)

Great, but... Review by Tim

Great tv, great app, great $499 price at Costco, but.....I can't get my directv remote (on HR24NC-100) box to learn to toggle off/on and control volume.

I have other Vizio tv's that this works fine on. Any ideas?

Good TV. Poor remote. Review by alex

The remote is very small and is not back lit. Nor does it have any favorite channel memory buttons. The TV itself is a great value but be aware that this TV does not have the capability to interface with vizio's bluetooth qwerty keyboard remote. Great TV but let down by a very poor design of the remote.

Great features at unbeatable price! Review by KS

Another Costco customer who got this at $499.95 (I believe this price is through 1.31.11), with two-year warranty included. It replaced a two year old Sony Bravia M Class, and the Vizio has superior sharpness and true colors. Four HDMI inputs are great, but I have it connected to a Denon AVR-990 receiver as a monitor. The Vizio Internet Apps feature is outstanding. The TV recognized my Apple Time Capsule WiFi immediately, and it was very easy to set up my Netflix and Pandora accounts. I prefer the Vizio interface to Roku XDS box. Vizio customer service tells me that Hulu Plus update will be pushed out in a week or two. I live in Southwestern Connection, and my Terk amplified antenna pulls in over 20 HD stations from NYC, NJ, etc. The packaging is very clever in that you undo four clips at bottom, and lift the top of the box up and off, making removing the TV very easy. The Yahoo weather app is great. and the TV guide app is essential, as I canceled DirecTV a few months ago, and don't regret that for a moment. My only complaint is that the buttons on the remote are very small, and the "piano black" finish gets smudged quickly. Unless you think you need greater than 60Hz refresh rate, this full featured HDTV with built in WiFi is a terrific value!

Awesome internet TV Review by Ole

This model is awesome for size and price. We live on a busy road and are using this unit in the bedroom which is next to busy road which is load. We can set the sound level to 22 it blocks out road noise and still sounds great. The wireless setup works perfectly with netflixs with our wireless N router, works as good as CATV. Good instructions easy to setup. We bought at Costco where you can't go wrong.

Great deal Review by Rutrag

I bought this set to upgrade from a Vizio VP322 (32" 720p plasma). I paid $539 for the unit including tax due to an instant rebate. I had no probelm hooking up an XBox 360, blu-ray player, and cable box using the HDMI ports. That picture was great. However, I hooked up a Wii through the component jacks, and the picture was awful. The white was excruciatingly bright and the text on the Wii's home screen was illegible. (This was on a Saturday.) Fortunately, once in game the picture was okay. The following Wednesday, I decided to use the optical out from the TV to see if I could streamline the audio hookups going into my receiver. While double checking that everythign still worked as expected, i was delighted to discover that the Wii homescreen looked as it should. I guess either Vizio or Nintendo (or both) updated their firmware to solve an apparent incompatibility issue. (The Wii looked fine on the older Vizio.) Using the online apps at first is a little clunky, and I actually found my univesal remore to general be more functional than the supplied Vizio remote EXCEPT when it comes to the online apps. I haven't gotten the chance to really play on the Xbox with it yet, but the demo screens for Halo 3 look awesome! Blu-ray and HD cable look good as well.

Love this HD TV with built in wifi and netflix app Review by Surya

Just purchased this from costco for $499. A full HD tv for this price? That's right, aswesome price. I can connect to my home WIFI and use Internet Apps that comes with it to watch streaming video from netflix. I can connect using ethernet cable as welll. Haven't tried other applications like radio, e-mail and live TVs. But, this is what I really wanted for a long time. With 4 HDMI inputs, I can connect my HP entertainment PC, blue-ray and other devices at the same time. Audio is very good but can be extended to dolby using external speakers.

Time to say bye bye to cable TV. I can subscribe to Netflix for $7.99 a month, a lot better than $50 for cable TV.

I wish the ambient light sensor was little more sensitive. It does not respond when I turn the lights on in my living room. The remote control is too smooth and has a tendency of falling off your hand. I also wish the TV could respond faster when I change the channel or press a button on the remote.

Great TV! Review by Mase2w

Just got it at costco this weekend (at the store) not online. This TV is sweet! It has the Vizio Yahoo Internet apps, which are ok, I wish there were more options and I wish it had Pandora. At the store, there was hardly any difference between the E421VA and this one (as far as viewing goes). The E421VA has a 120Hz refresh rate, and this one only has 60Hz, but it still has an excellent picture. The sound is actually pretty good, too! One of the best features is the Wifi and the 4 hdmi ports with the ethernet port and usb ports. Overall, it is a great buy and got it at Costco for $500 with a $80 instant discount.
