I've had my Vizio E420VL 42" LCD TV for almost 3 years now and I absolutely love it! The picture is so good that it looks real! I run the picture setting in the menu on Vivid all the time and it has a absolutely beautiful picture. I receive unsolicited comments from friends and vistors on how great the picture is on this TV. I'd buy it all over again in a heartbeat! Also, the 120 hertz refresh rate is especially noticeable on video games and movies when the picture quicky pans right or left with clarity and no blur at all! I would highly recommend this TV to anyone! It shows the best picture I have ever seen on a LCD TV! I love it!

I have a flatscreen for my computer, but this is the first TV version. Friends talked about all the hassles of set up with their flatscreens, so I was worried. What? No hassle with the Vizio! Followed the directions 1, 2, 3......presto! Great images, good sound quality.

Now I am thinking of adding some speakers.

Bought the E420VL and the VSB210WS sound bar with wireless subwoofer @ the same time.Definately fills our home with a great picture & sound.Have also played music & videos from laptop using HDMI cable.So simple.Had to buy 26" VIZIO LCD for the Kenworth I drive with same sound bar /sub combo.I would recommend these combos to everyone.The 42" HDTV & sound bar ran about $876+tax.

Great First HD TV Purchase Review by bubba gse

I was shopping for a tv that was about mid-level price range. Since this was my first HD TV, I was concerned about spending the bucks and being unhappy with my purchase. This TV put my fears to rest. In fact, I enjoy this TV more everyday I own it. I'm not into the technical end, I just know this TV is fantastic. I originally purchased this TV because my wife is vision impaired. My goal is to eventually repalce every TV in my house with a Vizio.

My brother, who is a techie recommended Vizio. It is what he has, I lived with him for 2yrs & watched it. So when I moved, at first I was looking for a Sony, but Vizio is what I watched so I brought a 32" for my bedroom. I'm am very pleased, Jeff didn't steer me wrong & waiting after the holiday's I got a great buy. I'm not a 3D person & I didn't want all the other unnecessary (to me) bells & whistles. I was happy that Vizio doesn't make you have to get all of the unnecessary (to me). Next is the livingroom! Thanx

After searching around at our local walmart we came across this tv it was a great price,
$598 and im glad to say we purchased this tv its great.
Its not just good showing on movies or other things but it is excellent
on videogames PS3, Xbox 360 its good online no lag the picture and sound quality is unsurpassed.
Just two speakers puts out more sound than my uncles philips with 4
10 watt speakers and its just a great tv and any one looking for a Hdtv this is it.....

This is a great TV and I was able to get it at a great price. I loved that I could hook it up to my PC using either the RGB input or any one of the 3 HDMI inputs. My only wish is that it could go into sleep mode when the PC turns off using any one of the 3 HDMI inputs. Other than that 1% defect, this thing rocks.

I recently received the Vizio 42" as a birthday gift. I really like the picture and its easy to set up and operate. Im not much of a techie, so that was important to me. Its simple to trouble shoot and figure out where all the connections for my WII/Playstation goes. Although, I have to puchase a seperate adapter to plug everything into, the price of this TV at Wal Mart was reasonable, in my opinion. I am satisfied todate!

Let me start by saying that this is a damn good TV. The picture is amazing, and the sound is pretty good. However, if you play any first person shooters like call of duty, steer clear. The input lag is outrageous. Before getting this TV I would get 20+ kills with deaths in the single digits, and now with this TV its the other way around. Not for online gaming....

I recently bought a Vizio for the first time after checking a number of reviews in this size range. My first purchase of an E420 vl had to be returned due to a significant distortion in one band of of the picture. The exchange went easily and the picture on the new unit was fine. In fact, it's breathtaking in color, clarity, and sound. Setup was a breeze. It took less than five minutes. the price was outstanding. My next HD tv will definitely be a Vizio.

this is our 2nd Vizio TV, our 1st is the 37'' model , luv it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we just recently purchase this one at walmart, great picture. did have to fine tune/adjust the color, brightness & tint etc.( would recommend to do this when watching a cartoon, because of all the colors!!!). the sound will go up loud for no reason esp on commericals , but overall it was at a good price compare to other models/brands. the picture once you adjust the color right is AMAZING !!!!!! the people look like its 3D at times & so clear. we look at happy feet the movie -the color was fantastic !!

WHILE LOOKING FOR A NEW FLA T SCREEN AT WA MART WHERE THEY HAVE ALL THE FLAT SCREENS IN ONE BIG LINE. IT WAS EASY TO SEE THAT VIZIO HAD THE BEST PICTURE. I TOLD MY WIVE TO LOOK AT HE PEACOCK IN THE CORNER. SHE DID AND PICK VIZIO AS THE BEST. WE THEN STEPPED BACK A LITTLE DISTANCE AND AGAIN VIZIO WAS PICKED.
LATER WHEN WE GOT IT HOME WE FOUND THE SETTING UP WAS REALLY EASY.

Purchased a Sony 40 inch 60Hz LCD TV. Had it for 1 week and returned it back to the store. Picture was cloudy with halo around images, even with an HD Satellite receiver. I was very disappointed and was going to exchange it for a Samsung 40 inch 120Hz, although it was more money, I wanted to be sure I would get a TV that would produce better images.
Had my mind made up on the Samsung..UNTIL I saw the VIZIO 42 " 120Hz in action that was on display for a lot less money. I stood there for a few minutes comparing the 2 and I was totally blown away by the clarity and color of the VIZIO. It didn't take me long to change my mind sine it was 2 inches bigger and cost a lot less than the Samsung. I purchase it and once home I had it set up and running in less than 15 minutes.
My husband and 2 daughters were totally amazed at the vibrant picture and clarity compared to the Sony. My youngest daughter, who is now in college, asked; “Mom, can I take this back to college with me"? Momma said; Fat chance! LOL! She also made the comment that the images look like they could walk right out of the TV (so life like). I am very pleased with my purchase and savings which I decided to purchase the extended 2 year warranty for just $65.00. What a bargain!

I bought the 42 60hz a couple of days ago and had a problem with the picture flashing on and off during the first two minutes after I turned it on. I took it back and got the 120hz model and am very pleased with the picture and performance. I have two other LCD Tv's , a LG, and a Hitachi. This makes them look cheap and I actually paid more for them. I replaced this one for a 42" Philips I used to have in the den.... What a piece of junk that one was it put out so much heat it would drive you out of the room.

Just replaced our 50 Hitachi rear projection TV I purchased on 1999 for over $1500. I never thought it had a bad picture but when i put them side by side with my 42" VIZIO the truth had never been so clear. I am currently pleased with the ease of use , NET FLIKS looks great coming through the Wii and Directv looks better than ever. Bring on the football season.

We bought our first Vizio today. We have a Sharp Aquos...I love this TV. It took a long time for my hubby to get me to buy a new tv. I am totally satisfied. I mean OMG!!!! I will be a Vizio customer for years to come. My next one will be the LED Vizio, just a bigger size. We bought a 42" today. I also like the remote...I like the fact that I don't have to press input it is all spelled out for me..I press HMDI and it goes to that input and then I'm playing the PS3!!!

This tv is really quite incredible! When one factors in cost and performance, I really dont think this tv can be beat.
I purchased this tv for my mom, and she about fell on the floor after it was all up and running. The picture is incredible, and it sounds great as well. As a matter of fact, on her old tv (a Phillips) watching DirecTV, she had to have the volume around 50. With the Vizio, it's more around 30!
Everything looks great on it. Xbox360 (yeah, she's a gamer!) DirecTV, BLU-Ray, DVD...you name it, and it looks excellent.
The only negative I can think of is that in comparison to my Vizio (XVT37) the remote is lacking some features, but its nothing really...just different to what I am personally used to.
My mom loves the TV, and says the picture is so good, its like watching 3D!!
Bottom line IMO is that this is an excellent all around TV. I highly recommend it!

This is the second Vizio we have bought. This is replacing the 32" plasma we had the bedroom, which still works just gave that one to our daughter. Picture quality is awesome and sound is fantastic. We have a 55" samsung 240hz led 3d tv in our living room and honestly i don't notice a difference in picture or sound between that one and the vizio.

After setting up my first vizio for my mother-in-law , she cannot see very well at all , she said she could make out much more then she saw with her old TV . While going through the set up I found it hard to look at our old set so we decided to buy another . Now that we have a wonderful set to view I will be getting another set for our bedroom as well as our guest room in the near future . They are in my opinion the better of all the other sets we viewed . Each time we went to walmart my wife could find me in the Electronics section looking over the TV selections and we are looking forward to many years of viewing pleasure .

I originally bought the 60hz version of this model last night and when I got it home I noticed this low hum or buzz in the speakers. It was really irritating so I decided I would return it and see how the replacement did. I ended up getting the 120hz instead and couldn't be more delighted. Unbelievable picture quality and the sound is awesome too (no hum or buzz). This is my third vizio, all of the others are still working great so this is a nice addition to my inventory :)

I have to add that I bought this at Walmart and after getting the replacement I realized that the first one I had was probably returned by someone before as the repacking was not quite right and the remote already had batteries installed. A tell-tale giveaway. Shameless by Walmart to put a defective product back on the shelf.

This is our first HD TV. I had been reading review after review and the Vizio products stood out among the rest. A friend of mine had told me to stand back 30-40 feet from the display televisions and look for richness and clarity. WOW, Vizio beat them all on every size. The price was excellent!

This was the first flat panel HD LCD TV I have purchased, and I was amazed at the picture quality on HD programming and movies.

A lot of people stay away from the non "big name" brands, but when comparing them side by side in the store, this TV actually looked better than similar featured TV's that cost hundreds of dollars more.

I paired it with a Vizio blu-ray player and I have found a new love of movies. The picture is absolutely crystal clear and perfect with an HDMI connection.

The TV takes a little bit to setup, as there are quite a few options to go through, but after about 30 minutes of toying around with them, it turned out to have a perfect picture for my entertainment center location.

The speakers are better than some of the other models, nothing to write home about, but for general TV watching, they do the job nicely. For movies, definitely a decent receiver and speaker system to get the proper sound to match the perfect picture.

Only downside is the cheesy remote, but a decent universal remote will take care of that without much effort.

I will continue to support and buy Vizio products for many years after this first impression. Keep up the great products.

It set up very easy ,but like one of the other reviews, I had to fine tune the brightness and the contrast. Never heard of VIZIO before, but I am a true fan now. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. GREAT PRICE and VALUE compared to Sony, and Samsung for comparable units.

Either I've been out of the market for LCD TVs for a while or this E420VL I just picked up is an incredible deal. I had DirecTV installed last week and my older 36" 720p HDTV just wasn't cutting it. I found this tv and bought it purely based on buyer's reviews. I had never even seen a Vizio, much less this actual model. I am very happy with my purchase and the reviews given this set are all accurate. I'm amazed at how high def tv looks. It reminds me of reality tv or raw footage. Movies don't look the same anymore, its just really cool.

Very happy and definitely a Vizio fan.

I have to admit two things.

First it took me some time to dial in good brightness and contrast settings, but once I did it made a huge difference.

Second, with digital cable some or most of the programming is broadcast in bad quality, so at first I had the wrong impression of the tv.

I already own a 32" Vizio which is great, but this tv is fantastic. Last night I happened to turn on The Green Mile on TNTHD, and even in 1080i the picture was incredible! Not only is it sharp to the point that you can see all of the marks on faces, but with the proper content I feel that the colors are very natural and lifelike on this model. I can't wait for football season, and can't imagine how clear Blu-Rays will look when I get a player.

At this price, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Vizio E420VL.

So far so good. Was going for a Sony or Samsung as well but the look of the picture was so similar as well as the specs. SO I saved a few hundred dollars. I do not have HD Dish (yet) but the picture thru the standard DISH is good. I only wish I knew how to set something so the commercials volume did not knock me out of my seat then have to turn back up for the shows. My old OLD SCHOOL Tv was not nearly that noticeable. It probably took me about 15 mins to set up. (Not counting the hour it took me to tear apart my old entertainment center. Someone forgot to measure before shopping.

I am a technology challeged person, so my 14 yr old grandson set up the tv for me. He showed me each step as he did it. I timed it and it took 14 mins. That is from the time we took it out of the box to completely sitting and watching a show. I think I may have even been able to do it myself.

The clarity is great, the menu easy, and the sound is clear.

The only thing I would have liked is a longer cable cord to anchor the tv to the table I have it on..

We were planning to buy a new TV fairly soon and were looking at either a Samsung or Sony - but then I walked into my local Costco and saw the display of Samsung's, Sony's, & Vizio's. And there was one unit which just stuck out - the pic on the Vizio E420VL was equal to the LED's & vastly superior to the other LCD's. And the cost was much lower than the others.

The refresh rate & contrast make the picture flow so smoothly that watching motor sports is now a wonderful thing. The sound is comparable to the units w/ surround sound systems at friends homes.

We are very happy with our choice and highly recommend this unit.
