- Great TV at a Great Price! Review by victorpf

I replaced my old Polaroid with this new LED set. The picture is great an it is simple to set up. Enough inputs and outputs for most people. This set is about half the weight of my old set and uses about half the energy. The remote is very simplified [a plus] and the menu is easy to navigate.

- Pretty Good, some limitations, will keep Review by Sargamites

Bought this at Costco because the picture seemed better than other similarly-priced (low-cost) 32-inch sets.
Pros: (1) picture is good; (2) the sound quality produced by the internal speakers is surprisingly good and is loud enough to be easily heard in a good size room without connecting a separate sound system.
Cons: (1) no PC (VGA) input; (2) the composite video input is shared with the component input, so you may only connect one or the other, not both (I had an old VCR with only composite, and a DVD player with only component, so I could not connect both of them, but I suspect there are relatively few of you who are still trying to use old equipment like me!); (3) no printed usuer manual included.
I encountered one frustrating set-up problem because there was no manual (but solved it thanks to someone who posted the solution on the web): When I connected my DVD player using the component inputs, the picture appeared onl in black and white! After an hour of checking settings, reconnecting, and trying my DVD player on another TV (on which it worked perfectly, in color), I thought the Vizio was defective. Turns out you must select which type of signal is connected to the shared input in the "Input" menu, but the labeling of the items in the menu is misleading. You must select "AV" if you are using a composite input, and "Component" if you are using component connections. Unlike many other TVs with shared inputs, this one does not automatically detect what's connected to the shared input.
The design focus for this model seems to maximize video and audio performance at a relatively low price point by minimizing connectivity and other "bells and whistles" such as VGA and separate composite and component inputs.
Overall, I decided to keep it, because to get the additional inputs I wanted would cost another $100 for a set with similar picture quality.(Posted on 1/6/13)
