No bells or whistles, just a great TV. Review by Bought it at Costco

We purchased this TV after doing quite a bit of research on the web. We were looking for a unit with outstanding picture quality. Sound quality was not an issue as we have a kickin' surround system already. We were impressed with the 37" Vizio we already owned so when we decided to upgrade our family room TV, Vizio was on the top of the list. It has been about 3 months now since we purchased the Vizio 47" and I can say we have had no problems and the picture quality still impresses me each time I watch TV. BTW-I recently viewed a friends Sony Bravia 46" he paid over $1000 for. I didn't say anything but our $589 Vizio is better. Vizio.....keep making this TV it's a world beater! Kent.

bought this TV on sale for 369.00 and I Love it! Sound could be better but if u add the Vizio sound bar its the total package. The HD is like looking threw glass I couldnt ask for a better TV near 50'' thats just as clear and detailed in picture as a SHARP OR SONY

Nice tv... don't like the sound Review by cubscop

This is my first Vizio television. The price was good. Set up easy. Picture is great. However, I do NOT like the sound. Called tech support and they tried to help but the sound did not change. The sound is like the speakers are in a tin can, not what I expected. Tech support suggested a sound bar.... more money?!?! Don't know if I will buy another Vizio.

Vizio, You're The Best! Review by thisISgreat!!!

Since May of 2001, I have had an extremely big and fat Toshiba 50'' TV. Since Black Friday was coming soon, I figured out "Hey, I NEED a new TV. I needed to replace this bad boy and get a new one. As I was looking through many places for a cheap TV, I then found this for the amazing price of $489.99 @ BJ'S (Thankfully, I was one of the lucky ones who go it)! This was my 1st large TV in a long time, and we found it very simple to install (after replacing the cable box I had, while fighting with Cablevision about what cable I should use). The picture blew my mind, it was unbelievable! The quality was of something I could not even imagine. The sound sounded legit and real and when I hooked my PS3, I finally found out what I was missing. This was the best purchase I have ever made! I also loved how easy it was to do anything, so I feel it was worth every penny I used. If they still sold it for this price, you should buy it as well.

I bought this tv from a wholesale electronics outlet. For the price, this tv is an excellent product. Previously I had a rear-projection tv, and this is a very nice replacement. Set up was very easy.

Amazing picture Review by Steve

This is my first HD TV. I researched TVs for about 2 months prior to buying and I can honestly say this was by far the best tv in this price range and size that I looked at. It was a 20 minute setup out of the box, I even hung it on the wall. Once I got the HD receiver put in (for free) the picture quality doubled and became what I had previously seen only on the Blue Ray player. The sound quality is beautiful even without the surround sound on and the picture is unmatched. Seriously. This is IMAX quality. My parents bought one and we even put one in our office. This marks month 6 since I bought it and I still marvel every single day at how good it looks. If you haven't seen true HD the best I can describe it is like sitting in the front row of the TV show you are watching as it is being taped. You can almost reach out and touch the people on the screen. As long as Vizio maintains this level of perfection I will go nowhere else!

My living room TV (hi-def CRT) had died and it is football season...OH NO! It took me a week of research to learn about what technology is available now that CRT is extinct. There are two choices Plasma or LCD. From my research, for my viewing distance of 10-12’ I should purchase a 50”. Wonderful…a 50” Plasma is within my budget; a 50” LCD is not. I identified all the vendors in my area that sold TVs, looked at the specs online and reviewed the MSRPs. The picture of Plasma screen is spectacular…superior to the LCD in a darkened room. It wasn’t till I ended up at a well-lit Wal-Mart that the glare on the Plasma rendered it un-viewable. Then over to Costco where the glare of the Christmas tree lights solidified my decision. It is back to the drawing board in search of an LCD in my budget. For my $600 budget I narrowed the choices to about two machines; a 42” 1080p 120Hz LCD or a 47” 1080p 60Hz LCD; an agonizing decision as I am plunking down a lot of money and striving to obtain the best value possible. Off to the store with tape measure in hand and watch some TV from my actual viewing distance. By far the 47” is more comfortable than, although not as sharp as the 42” but I think it will work. Several vendors have this model available for similar pricing and I chose the vendor with the free two year warranty. Let’s get you home. OH OH…I am not happy but I don’t have an HD receiver/dish; let’s call and get a free HD upgrade. After that installation (on a Sunday…happily surprised by the customer service) this TV looks phenomenal. Holy Cow! Great choice in screen! There is one caveat however and it is important to consider. CRT TVs came with speakers that sounded good as a stand-alone set. When you are purchasing these new HDTV sets what you are paying for is the screen, not the sound output unless you go expensive. Should you have a stereo or home theater system that you are plugging this audio through then don’t worry…but as a stand-alone TV the sound is muffled and weak. I use the TV for general viewing, mostly news, documentaries, and sports…no gaming. Football is fantastic, totally amazing at this size, clarity to suit my older eyes, and especially sharp on the replay. I would recommend this screen to those especially moving from CRT at this viewing distance with HD service as I can view comfortably with the window shades open or lamps on in the room and see all the wonderful detail. The kick is up and it is good.

I got this tv a week ago and it is really nice. Easy set up, great picture and sound. I recommend anyone looking for a great LCD tv at a good price get this one. I stood in the store for a long time looking at every set including the higher priced ones and this had one of the best pictures of all of them, and at a better price then most in this size.

We just bought this TV about two weeks ago. This is our very first HD TV and we are very pleased with our purchase! Great price, nice picture, and a great monitor if you choose to use it as such! We previously purchased a Vizio LED for our daughter and took it back because the picture was so bad. I am convinced that we simply got a bad seed!
