- Impressed but worried Review by Iggy
-
We bought our 65" before Christmans through Walmart online. Was delivered first week of January.
First impression.....WOW!!!....HUGE!!!....WHAT A PICTURE!!!!!....FANTASTIC!!!!
Pervious to this purchase we had a 61" Magnavox rear projection so going to this 65" screen wasn't overwelming in sive, but the picture quality is outstanding.
Now the review....after owning this TV for a few weeks we are impressed with the picture clarity. HD programming plays very well. We don't see the problems others seem to see. well, the refective screen is a bit annoying. The streaming video from NetFlix plays great. We bought a Vizio wireless router for our wireless network at home. Seems to be perfectly paired with the TV. So far we have only played two 3D movies and they both were wonderful. Excellent picture. For audio we had previously purchased a VIZIO sound bar for the rear speakers. While the SRS audio is not 5.1 quality it palys very well. All I need now is a sub woofer.
Now for the worried part.....over the last couple days we experienced a problem with the TV. As we were watching the lower 1/3 of the screen suddenly had wide horizontal stripes. We were watching a blu-ray DVD and I thought something happened to the player but the wife said it happend before with NetFlix. Tried shutting the TV down and got no response. Then the TV shut itself down and the VIZIO name on the front TV frame began flashing. Remote control had no effect. Then the TV restarted itself and was working normally. Hmmm.........we'll see.(Posted on 1/22/12)

Purchased ours at BJ's Wholesale, $1700 YES $1700 there was an instant $500 rebate at the register. Had to buy it at that price. Pretty good TV, have watched some cool 3D stuff on it, still trying to get the Darks set right, but I think thats more me than the TV , Would recommend this TV.

- Great TV and price Review by Wezy
-
I purchased this TV after reading the reviews for Christmas 2011. One day I was in Wal-Mart in Norfolk, Va and the TV was on sale, under 2K. I did not hesitate. When family and friends walk into the room they just say WOW. I love the quality of the picture. When watching 3D movies, I feel as if I am there in the film. This TV just pops and brings everything to life. Thank you Vizio for a great product. This was my first Vizio purchase, and this will not be my last.
Once again thanks.(Posted on 1/7/12)
- THE BEST 65" LED TELEVISION ON THE MARKET TODAY! HANDS DOWN!! Review by pete5670
-
I would first like to point out that I have only had the pleasure of owning this set for about 3 weeks now, but these are my initial observations. .
The first thing that comes to mind when you walk into the room is, WOW. The sheer size of the screen is enough to make any man child drool, but the sleekness of the frame, simplistic but appropriate glossy frame, and 2 inch thick rear panel really compliment this monster of a television. Not only is she sexy and thin, but she packs all of the features you would come to expect from a brands top of the line offering, including dual band wifi connectivity, Vizio's own internet apps, LED backlighting, 5 HDMI's (Thats right I said 5!!) and 3D playback.
The picture quality of this set I found to exceed my expectations. This is the first Vizio set I have owned, previously Samsung, Sony, and Philips, but Vizio did not disappoint. The recreation of 2d images were crystal clear with colors that popped, and DEEP levels of black. Even though this television is an edge lit LED, Vizio has made great strides with this technology and combined with the 32 "zones" that dim areas of the screen to achieve great contrast ratios, what you get are outstanding black levels. For a screen with a 1 Million to 1 contrast ratio, these levels proved to be on par with the 25 million contrast ratio 65" Samsung on display at my local Magnolia store. 3D is equipped on this device, utilizing passive 3D technology. This is the first passive set I have used (Also the first passive set to hit the market by any brand) and I found this feature to also exceed my expectations and really made me fan of passive 3D televisions. No doubt do I believe this is the future of 3D tv, at least until they can make a large screen glasses free 3D television, at an affordable price. The image was bright, "crystal clear," and the depth, once configured correctly within my 3D bluray player, was spot on with what I had come expect from 3D play back in the home. I have to say that 3D effects very much vary on the source. Some 3D blurays have better 3D effects than other. I personally thought that "The Legends of the Owls" animated movie was AWESOME, and a real treat on the eyes. Best 3D Bluray I have seen yet, but looking forward to getting my copy of Avitar 3D in the mail. Over all VERY pleased with the performance of this machine.
Vizio's internet suite offers alot of apps for you to enjoy at the push of a button. Everything one could want including streaming 3D movies in HD from VUDU (Which gives you a free rental credit your first time). The only thing left wanting was a "You Tube" app, and that is been promised by Vizio to arrive sometime this summer 12'. For this reason, I gave the product 4 stars out of 5 in the Features section.
Overall the value for your money is busting out of the seams on this television! SO much premium packed into an affordable price tag. Yes, this set is still somewhat expensive and I know not everyone is going to be able to afford it, but for a 65" LED 3D television, THIS GOOD, the price is more than enough to swallow. I can't begin to explain how satisfied I am with this purchase. Was a little hesitant, just because it was a Vizio and never really heard much about them or had experience. Vizio, You have a new loyal customer in me. Believe me, I WILL be back for more. I hope this helps if you at all considering this television set.(Posted on 12/12/11)

I purchased this TV sight unseen from Sam's Club for $2499 after reading the reviews. I'm totally happy with it. The internet apps work great and the passive 3D is better than displays I've seen of active 3D with expensive glasses..
In response to Preacher36, the 3D can be turned off and 3D signals can be watched in 2D if preferred.
The normal non 3D broadcast picture is awesome as well. The screen is reflective of light, but it's not a problem in a dark room, and not a major problem even in daylight.
There is not another TV in this size class that comes close to the price of this one. For the price of other 65", I also have 3D as a bonus.
I have a Vizio 42' in the bedroom as well, and would not hesitate to recommend Vizio to my friends.(Posted on 12/6/11)

- Compatible with HTC EVO 3D... Yeahhhh!!!! Review by BT
-
I did many side by side comparisons before selecting this TV. I found that other 3D TV's of the same size were substantially higher in price with negligible difference in picture quality. It was nice that the TV came with 4-pair of the 3D glasses but it was even nicer when I found that the disposable theater 3D glasses are compatible. I had 20-people over for a 3D movie party. That would have been cost prohibitive with the expensive shutter glasses.
Blah blah blah. Read the other reviews for other features, I am moving on to the subject of viewing your own 3D movies and videos taken with the HTC EVO 3D (this may work for other devices as well)...
Items needed:
- An HDMI 1.4 or 1.4a cable (note: lower than 1.4 does not support 3D transmission)
- An MHL Adapter ( About $16 on Amazon. MHL = Mobile High-definition Link. The EVO 3D micro USB port is also a MHL port.)
- Your EVO 3D power cord
Directions:
1. Plug the EVO 3D power cord into the MHL adapter
2. Connect the MHL Adapter to the HDMI ports on the XVT3D650SV using the HDMI 1.4 cable.
3. Turn on the TV and use the jog dial or the remote control to change the input to the HDMI port you plugged into.
4. Turn on (or wake up) your EVO 3D and then plug the MHL Adapter into the EVO 3D. The EVO3D user interface should now be showing on your TV.
5. Use your EVO 3D to access your photos and videos. When you select a 3D photo or video on the EVO 3D, the XVT3d650SV will prompt you to switch the TV to 3D mode.
A final note: If you plug into the EVO 3D before making the other connections, nothing will display on the TV. Just unplug and re-plug your EVO and you're good to go.(Posted on 9/23/11)
- Vizio 65 inch 3D LCD Review by phil
-
I purchased TV from Costco
The TV looks great, I still haven't gone thru all the features.
The picture quality and sharpness is great both 2D and 3D.
Cons:
There is no slot for media card or flash drives, (USB jack 3 Nos for Technician Only)
No Front Input (Atleast an HDMI port would have been included in the front panel)
If you loose the remote there is nothing much you can do by using buit in TV controls.
The remote is too thick and bulky.
I could not find an RCA type jack input for video other than Component.

I am a pretty harsh critic of the televisions I own and this t.v is great! The blacks are a tiny bit purple-ish but it is not really noticeable. The 3D is beyond amazing though, all of my friends and I have been awed by it. Buying this TV was one of the best purchases I've made in a while. Only down side would be that 3D movies are 40 dollars, but hey, it is definately worth it! The TV switches automatically between 2D and 3D so there is no need to worry about that either.

- First of new generation of 3D TV's... GREAT!!!! Review by bello4
-
If you consider that this is the very first passive 3D TV to be launched, Vizio made an excellent job. This TV is by no means perfect, but packages the most important features i was looking for: - Massive 65 inch size - Theater quality 3D, by far the best i have seen in any 3D TV!! - Super affordable maintenance free passive glasses - Excellent 2D High Definition - Superthin for it's size - 5 HDMI ports! - Wi-FI, and the list keeps going, THIS IS AN IMPRESSIVE LIST OF FEATURES!! and on top of this the price is great considering the size. Yes, it suffers from clouding wich is normal for an edge lit TV this size, but unless you enjoy watching your screen with a permanent black image on it, you never notice it on regular viewing. If you insist on looking for flaws on it, you are going to find them (real or imaginary). Me, i just greatly enjoy this marvel. THANKS VIZIO!!

Purchased from Sam's Club. Picture is good, though blacks are not deep and tend to look purple and you always have to adjust the picture setting based on what you're currently viewing to maximize picture quality. The sound though, not sure if there's a setting that I missed, but it seems to fluctuate while watching certain things or when it goes to commercial.During a live broadcast is where I notice this most.

- 6/8 Love It Review by Carl007

This TV hassix of the eight features I was looking for:
1) Size
2)3D
3) Price-max $3500 avail. thru Costco
4) Internet built-in
5)Blu-tooth Remote Control w/slide-out keyboard-do not need to point at TV.
6) Passive glasses
7) DOES NOT HAVE FULL ARRAY LED DISPLAY -LIKE SMALLER VISIO 3D TV'S--WHY?
8) REFRESH RATE IS 120--MIN. FOR 3D-VERSES 480 FOR OTHER 3D VISIO TV'S-WHY?
I was looking for a min. 60" 3D when I heard COSTCO was trial marketing the 65" VISIO in Michigan.
I hurried to my nearest COSTCO store Saturday nigh. I paid a stranger with a pick-up truck to bring it to my home same night. [The box is 71" w x 44"h x 20" deep, 110 Lbs].
The next day I went to Best buy to buy a couple of 3D Blue-ray DVD's.
The 3D is awsome! I love the fact that it does not jump out right into your face- Much easier on my eyes not having to instantly refocusing from near to far!
I can'[t wait to get 3D-DVD's other than for kids. (I will never buy the political Avatar!).
I love the slide-out Blue-tooth remote-it's great not having to worry about pointing it at the TV.
I love Internet Apps buit-in e.g YouTube, TV Guide, Netflick and free- downloads e.g. Wired.
Only nusiance is that the 3D takes an extra step to activate using the VIZIO remote '3D' button--unlike my Sony where 3D that automatically detects 3D.
Picture is great in 2D. Bigger is better.

- Passive 3D!!! Review by NBTX
-
This tv looks great in the store, but I am patiently waiting on the 55" to be released - it's now the middle of March - bring it on already! (impatient American, I know)
I believe passive 3D on a tv through polarized glasses is the way all 3d tv's will be in a few years, once higher resolution screens are the norm. For full 1080p to each eye, you really need a "2160p" screen (aka the "4k2k" screen). This doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to do, especially if phone makers can put 1280 x 720 on a 4" screen! I guess the TV companies are trying to keep this bullet in the chamber for 2012 or 2013 models.
Vizio - bring out the 2160p passive 3d tv ASAP and shut down the only legitimate gripe of current passive 3d.
Thanks!(Posted on 3/8/11)

I have had several LCD TVs almost all Samsung and was a little leery about buying a Vizio. But the 2D Samsung 65" LED-LCD with less features was $3900 on sale. So I got this TV at BJ's wholesale club for $2999.99 and hoped for the best. Well I'm pleasantly surprised! The 2D HD picture is great, the colors are right on and the 3D is better than I had expected. All the features are great the built in wi-fi connected with ease, the widgets are responding faster than the ones on my 55" Samsung did. 2 of my 3D glasses were scratched, I called Vizio and they were very polite and prompt in sending me replacements. So I would recommend this TV to a friend looking for a giant LED-LCD TV, amazing how much bigger this is than my 55" .

Brought 65 inch 2 weeks ago at BJ's for $2999 (cheapest 3d out there at this size all others are at least $5500) overall I love the passive glasses and not having to charge them, the picture is great as well, the only problem I have is that in DARK scenes or when commercials fade in and out I get blotches of light on the upper right corner, lower right corner and the middle, it’s not a big deal but just curious if anyone else has seen this? Otherwise I love the LARGE SCREEN and the picture looks great. Vizio customer service is great; they will be replacing it regardless.

I purchased this set ($2999.99) along the Vizio's 3D DVD player ($169.99) from COSTCO on 1-29-11. They did not have one set up for viewing in 3D so I bit the bullet without seeing it in 3D. The TV does not come with a 3D DVD and COSTCO does not currently sell any 3D DVDs. I set the TV up on cable and was very impressed with the picture quality. Absolutely pristine picture quality in HD and very good in normal. Due to some time issues I did not look for a 3D DVD until this past weekend. I purchased a copy of "Resident Evil". What a trip. The set performed exactly as advertised. No flicker or other pitfalls of the 'Active" glass type sets. It actually comes with 4 sets of glasses, a considerable savings. I am impressed. Keep up the good work. I would suspect other brands will follow suite and produce 3Ds with passive glasses and I suspect Vizio will produce smaller models. Vizio has set the standard. If you are thinking about purchasing a 3D TV, this set is well worth the money. Yes is is big, too big for some, but if you have the room buy it, you will not regret it.

I just ordered mine. I can't wait for it to come in! To the people CLAIMING hollywood has given up on 3d: you guys aren't in the loop it seems. They have promised ALL animated movies to be in 3d this year without fail, disney is opening the vaults and re-releasing all movies in 3-d this year, PS3 is trying to make it a requirement for their system, the Nintendo DS is being released in 3D in March, HP, Acer, Compaq, Alienware, Asus are all makeing 3D computers this year. It's the standard, sell you VHS players and deal with it!
My only concern is that since it is passive shutter 3D, it is supposedly not capable of full 1080i while in 3D mode. I can't get enough info to confirm this or find out the max resolution it can display in 3D. Any info on this subject would be helpful.(Posted on 1/25/11)

- New 65" 3D Vizio Review by Ms.N@Texas
-
Just bought this t.v. 1/4/11 at Sams. And I love it! So far so good. Easy set up. I have been reading about this t.v. since the summer. I wanted a 3D viewing T.V. without the expensive glasses. I have a big family and could not afford glasses for everyone. We were able to watch a 3D movie with more than 10 people. The set came with 4 pair of glasses and we had some from the cinema. They worked well. The picture was clear and the 3D was just like the movies. We are still trying to get all the equipment to work on one remote. Have to use three remotes right now, Vizio, Cable & DVD/surround sound. Regular 2D viewing is great too. Thanks Vizio for allowing all of my family to see 3D movies at home!
We love it!

I attended '11 CES and had the opportunity to see this TV in person. Without reservation, this is the best 3D TV I have ever seen. It was better than samsung's, sony's, lg's, etc. offerings by a long shot. No "jumpy" feeling, cheap passive 3d glasses, minimal eye strain, and bright, vivid colors. It also appeared to have solid black levels and great contrast (hard to tell in a convention center environment). I can't wait to scoop one up.

The 3D technology is the best I have seen. I can view the screen from almost any place in my living room and still see the full 3D effect without blurring or flickering. I have tested 3D using a Sony PS3 playing GranTurismo 5 and Blu-ray 3D Resident Evil Afterlife. I purchased mine at Costco for a great price too. If you want 3D, get the VIZIO XVT3D650SV. You won’t be disappointed.

- Very Happy with this TV Review by Bp777

I bought this TV last week from Costco. The pictures are great in 2D and 3D. The 3D is greatly exceeded my expectation, it is just as good as those with the heavy glasses. You can not connect to UTUBE with the internet application. One component video input, more would have been better. Not sure about the return channel, it is not working for me. The sound does not return through HDMI cable from the TV back to your receiver. However, everything else are great, I'm glad I bought this TV.

- Glad I waited to pick up a 3D set Review by ttripp

I bought a 55" Vizio earlier this year after (with great difficulty) deciding that active shutter glasses were just not the future of 3D but only a stop-gap technology until the theater-style passive glasses would work at home. I'm SO glad I waited! Not only am I wishing that the 55" was a little bigger for the room I have it in, but the LED 3D technology with the polarized glasses is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for. Fortunately I have another room with the wall mount for my current 55" so this 3D 65" can take its place in the media room.
Very excited to get the online apps too (the XVT55 I bought was the model right before they came out with the Internet apps) so I can watch Netflix and Hulu Plus directly on my TV! Vizio is just ahead of the game; I'm sure this is going to be the technology that DRIVES 3D for all manufacturers and I can't wait to see this set in person. I may wait until the price on this comes down just a bit but I'm definitely planning on buying this.(Posted on 1/2/11)

I saw one today at Walmart. The pcture quality was great. I didn't have the oppertunity to try the 3D, but the 2D was absolutely beautiful. I'll be snatching this thing up next month with my tax return!

- Someone needs to read User Manual Review by MadDogVAQ33

Have not seen or purchased the set yet, but reading the first review I see the reviewer asked the question, "I wonder can you turn off the 3D on these televisions?" If you read the PDF format User Manual for the TV available on this site you find that you can select between 2D and 3D modes (and the correct 3D mode for the source). Simple enough.

I agree with a non 3D 65"... The last thing I want in my living room is a 3D TV and a bunch of glasses lying around. It's a fad, even Hollywood is giving up on it! On the other hand...a 65 inch HDTV, now were talking!!!!

- Nice TV from the spec. Review by sharpshark

It seems a very nice TV specially it is the first TV on the market that uses the non-battery 3D glass. I just wonder how is the video quality compare to other big names. Hope it does 2D to 3D conversion like some other 3D TVs. I will like to wait to have further test of this TV.

The is a very nice television. I have a 42, 32, and 26 inch all of them are Vizio. It would be nice to have one of these in a non 3D version. I wonder can you turn off the 3D on these televisions? Vizio, you are doing a great job in the television market. Keep up the good work and tell the people building the televisions they are building a good product that is making people enjoy their lives better. thanks.
