Customer Reviews
- Great picture after some setting changes Review by Happy
-
Since this is a new release, there's little to no reviews to be found anywhere. CNET, Home Theater... Amazon has several but nothing technical in nature. So, after much deliberation I went ahead and took a chance on this model. 65" was just the right size for our living room - the 70" Vizio was going to be too big. After unboxing it (easy access to the TV with the lift-off box) we got the stand mounted and set in place. It will require two people, not necessarily for the weight but the size. Went through the setup which was nice - made the choice for "home mode", got the Wi-Fi connected (the keyboard remote worked well for alpha-numeric entry but requires you to hold it in a very specific manner so it beams to the TV).
My first impression - this picture sucks. There was blooming around lettering on the screen, washed out areas on the left and right sides, letterboxes were pale gray and not black. So I fiddled with the settings, switched from DirectTV feed to Blu-ray. etc. Then, I hit the sweet spot and the picture changed from crappy to beautiful. I couldn't tell where the black letterboxes ended on dark scenes, fleshtones were perfect - you could pick out lint and threads on people's clothes from 15 feet away on the couch.
I still have some tweaking to do on the picture settings and I'm awaiting delivery on a Calibration DVD. The good thing is Vizio adds quite a bit of setting changes however it's also one of the more frustrating aspects if you can't get the settings right.
Don't be afraid to go dark with the settings - the LED screen will be bright enough when all is said and done.
As far as sound goes - get a sound bar or home theater system as the speakers and sound on the tv are horrible.(Posted on 5/15/13)
