I purchased my laptop about a month ago, and thus far has been nothing short of impressive. Let me start with the high points:
The display on this laptop is phenomenal. Full 1080p is a feature I have not had on a laptop before, and it is fantastic. Movies, Netflix, all look great. I find myself not watching Youtube videos unless they are in HD, because I know what this screen is capable of.
The computer is incredibly fast. Boots up in less than 10 seconds, every time. I don't wait to reboot my computer after updates because it takes nearly no time at all compared to previous laptops I've had that take 3-7 minutes. YIKES! Not only is the boot up fast, but it runs several programs seamlessly, and loads files extremely quickly. The solid state drive transfers files at around 20 mbs per second. When I copied my music library off my old hardrive it took over 30 minutes. When I loaded it onto the hard drive of the Vizio, it took no time at all.
Windows 8 took a little getting used to, however, now that I have my bearing on the operating system I work faster and more efficiently.
The sound on this laptop is pretty good considering it is a laptop. I still prefer to use headphones for a better quality sound but the speakers certainly aren't cheap.
This laptop is also incredibly light, thin, and beautiful. The casing is durable, simple, and there's nothing excess about it.
Now the low points.
You're not going to be shooting HD videos with the webcam on this machine. It is less than impressive. But who uses the laptop webcam for anything other than video chatting, in which case a low quality video reduces lag and keeps the system running smoothly. While the camera is poor quality this isn't a huge deal, at least to me.
Another minus, but not a huge deal, is the lack of a CD drive. While it may be a pain to have to go pick up a portable CD drive, its nothing compared to what you gain by not having moving parts in this machine.
The keyboard felt a little funny at first and took a little time to get used to. Once it loosened up the feel got better, but it's not quite as smooth or responsive as the other low-profile keyboards out there, namely, the Apple keyboards. The trackpad does incorporate multitouch, but nothing that really increases the productivity of the machine. There are no functions that do minimizing, show desktop, etc. The trackpad is also a little funky, but a mouse is a simple solution and this laptop does have bluetooth.
Overall, this laptop is phenomenal. There are some kinks that need to be worked out but for a super light and super fast laptop with a beautiful display it will do the trick for many types of laptop users.
