I bought it around 6 months ago, the image is good and the 3d too, I use it to play Xbox 360 and ps3, also to watch hd movies and I don't have any complains, but It would be nice if it could convert 3d from 2d like my all DVDs.

- A true high-performance bargain... Review by HiPo Steve
-
As a custom electronics industry veteran of more decades than I care to remember, I have seen and calibrated many great TVs & projectors. My son and daughter-in-law asked for a recommendation for a high performance but low priced smart TV of approx 50" for their just-purchased first home. It turns out that the Living Room where their new Home Theater system would live has lots of windows - so daytime reflectivity was an issue that eliminated many contenders with highly reflective screens (not always considered, but very important).
After extensively researching & viewing the contendors, the choice became clear - Vizio's M3D470KD with local dimming was the surprise (to me) winner. I was there when it arrived and connected, set up, & calibrated the set myself. There were absolutely no issues; everything worked exactly as it should, including Netflix. Picture quality for the price was stunning. The screen is not matte, but reflectivity was controlled and not distracting, more than acceptible for daytime viewing with blinds open.
My only glitch was not being able to get the discrete Power ON & OFF IR codes from Vizio for the Harmony remote control. Since my time at their house was limited, I just used the toggle Power IR code. While this will probably result in occasionally having the TV out of synch with the other components, I hope to find the codes elsewhere and fix this on my next trip.
Otherwise I thought the TV's performance, operation, build quality & appearance were remarkable for the price and recommend it highly. (Note this review is for the KD version only; the more recent KDE model lacks the local dimming that makes this set such a champ).(Posted on 3/26/13)

- I am very pleased with this TV Review by Marc
-
I just received this from amazon since it was 50 dollars cheaper. I hooked it up and set up the tv with all the picture settings. Then I downloaded some apps and they downloaded pretty quick my cousins older vizio took its good old time. The picture is stunning I played some video games on my ps3 and then watched some blu rays. It does have faults since the speakers aren't the loudest and most crisp speakers but I'm planning on getting a surround sound system soon so ill get back to you on that one. Overall it is a very good buy I also have a sharp 55" led and this one blows it out of the water. I will now see vizio as a contender.

- Problem with netflix app in this model Review by Ana
-
The picture on this tv is stunning! 3D picture is awesome! We own two Vizio TVs, but on this model, we are having problem with running Netflix, and both technicians from Vizio and Netflix had tried every possible way to fix it and still cannot get it work with this built in netflix app to load the movie from Netflix. So to watch movie from Netflix, we have to run it through Roku. All other apps work. We are hoping that there would be a way to get it fixed, because on the other model we have (M470SL) Netflix works great plus showed up with the most updated software/firmware.

- Total Visual Satisfaction!!! Review by SRT
-
In January of 2012, I walked into my local Costco Store in search of the best deal on a 37" T.V. and was taken on by the "on floor salesman" about my choice. Suddendly I was in front of my 47" LED Smart T.V. and couldn't believe the picture quality in front of my face. I was standing there wishing that I could get the same picture quality at home as I was seeing at the store.
I made the best deal on the set, which by the way on sale, and purchased my extended warranty and away I headed for the house. A couple hours later my set was up and running and suddenly my wife exclaimed at the picture quality of the new set. The 47" size was overwhelming to start with, as we had a 36" set prior to that, and watching the picture and all the fine details of things we have never seen before was pleasing as it gets watching T.V. period! I suddenly was aware of real HD and normal T.V. picture qualities. I looked forward to my programs that are filmed in the layest HD technology and watched these shows in amazement for the first time. My wishes of similiar quallity from the store to home was actually bettered at my home.
For the good part is the fact that 8 months later my Vizio Smart T.V. has run as good as it gets. I was a little skepticle on the flimsy remote, with key board at first, but it has endured in new condition until now. The nightly programs that I watch are always amazing to me and the set virtually draws me into the scenes everytime I watch a program. The 3D movies I own "pop" out of the screen in a fantastic display that I never believed existed in any T.V. set. My Vizio Bluray player entertains me like nothing I've ever watched at home in any situation. All of the apps work as described and the smart side of the set is just that and "More"!!!
So if you're on the fence trying to make that right choice ... Let me nudge you over the edge a bit and get down to your local Vizio Dealer and finalize your choices of size. We're talking an American Company here ... American workers assembling these wonderful sets and the best company service that you can dial up .... You will be pleased to speak and listen in perfect English and a very knowledgable technician will step you through any problem you may have. "Yes" ... It's the total package in television sets and I couldn't be more pleased. I come from the Sony World as a permanent fan of there products for years and I now enjoy even higher quality in my recent alliance with Vizio ... You can experience the same, I have no doubts.(Posted on 9/9/12)

Black Friday of 2011 I bought a 42" 3d led lcd by Vizio, I was very impressed with that TV up until the point where it wouldn't turn on at all. Got home From work that day and called up Vizio, Great people on the other side of the phone, all of them spoke English! They then offered me the same TV, I said sure. The next day they called up to inform me that they did not have that TV anymore and would like to offer me this one. (M3D470KD) I told them i needed to research it before I pulled the trigger. Spent probably 5 hours researching it and come to find out it hadn't even been released to sell yet, but everything looked good, called them up and pulled the trigger on it right away. I have been amazed by it since I got it back in May, I play a lot of Xbox and watch a lot of movies and no complaints at all in either department. The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did was a Bluetooth remote, my first TV (that I replaced) had a Bluetooth remote. But my solution will be simple, buy that internet app box, I want the internet browsing anyway. All in all this will be my TV for a very long time (given nothing happens to it), and i have no complaining to do about that.

- Unbelievable Clarity...3D is excellent!!!! Review by Coolhand
-
I must admit...I am a shopper...I looked in the box stores...did online searches...read review after review...and for the price nothing comes close to the M3D4470KD. Prior to this purchase I owned a 37 inch LCD Oliviea. There is unbelievable difference between the two sets. I purchased my Visio 3D LED LCD 47" at Sams...Price is somewhere around $200.00 cheaper than MSRP. After my son in law saw the clarity on my Visio set he told my daughter that my Visio was much better than his Tosihba 55'' LED LCD 3D that he purchased at Sears. I highly recommend this set to any and everyone. And in addition to all the great features of the set...there is oodles of Apps that come installed and ready to use....GREAT TV FOLKS...you won't be disappointed...I am one happy camper...

- High Quality - Low Price - what else could you ask? Review by ArmyLifer98

Ordered this online through Costco. Box arrived damaged and could see that screen was 'warped' through one of the 'holes". Refused delivery and called Costco a couple hours later. Refusal was already on record. Credited back in 3 days. Found this in stock at a local Costco and purchased it there. All good!
Television is fantastic. Clear, bright, and sound from the built-in speakers is good enough for the smallish den. But.. like Tim from "Home Improvement" - more is better - so also purchased the VH510 Sound Bar with subwoofer and satellite speakers. Do go get the Optical cable to connect it to the TV. Audio is beyond sweet.
The Vizio Apps are good. But haven't used any but the Yahoo! and Weather apps so far. They operate well enough on the built-in wireless but I can see that I'll need to run a wired link there for the optimum experience. Wanted to be able to browse the internet from the TV as well but that is not an option for the Vizio TVs yet. Perhaps a later firmware upgrade. So paired this up with a new Samsung BD-EM59C which has a true browser - and again, works with the built-in wireless but really needs a wired connection for a good experience.
The only area that I need to look at adjusting.. though my wife likes it just like it is! - is that the 240Hz gives everything a super 'smooth' feel. It gives an almost unreal quality to everything that is displayed on the screen. I'd read elsewhere that there is an option to disable it.. I just haven't found it yet - nor looked too hard. It DOES give old black and white movies a far cleaner look and feel. But for me, when watching regular TV it is a bit distracting.. not that it doesn't look clear and crisp.. I don't know how to explain it.. it is sort of like everything has a sort of "afternoon soap opera" appearance.
The TV remote is great. Fat-fingered though.. so actually wish it was a touch bit larger to make using the keyboard easier. The keyboard is only so-so.. sometimes have to press a key multiple times to get it to take. Might check and see if it will take a USB Keyboard and mouse... the Samsung says it can - maybe the TV will as well... that could be interesting capability. The only real lack for design is that it cannot control the Soundbar even though that is a Vizio Product as well. A welcome option would be a "universal" controller from Vizio that was designed to manage all their products with a couple extra "other" devices allowed.. i.e.; TV, DVD, Soundbar, Universal Wireless Switch, AUX1, AUX2. Let it be computer programmable such that you could select the Vizio products that you have and it will configure the controls accordingly. If you have a soundbar for instance.. it will turn that on when you power on the TV. The "Input" button would allow you to select the TV inputs or the Soundbar inputs as needed. Integration for the most common Cable Box options (Channel Guide, Play, Pause, rewind, OnDemand, etc) would be great. I'd happily take single larger remote control to avoid having 5 of them - and would pay the premium it would cost.
